I've had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Lahmann. He's there to answer any questions and is very helpful through the whole procedure. He was in my room at 6am the day after surgery to check and see how I was doing
I was sleeved on 7/14/15, I have lost a total of 65# so far. The problem I have is being nauseated all the time. The Dr gave me zofran but it doesn't seem to work all the time. At time just the thought of food makes me feel like vomiting. Is anyone else experiencing this? How are you dealing with it? My Dr only allows protein and a 1/2 cup of veggies so far...so saltines are not an option.
Friends advised me to go to Dr Lahmann because of the great work he does. I was seeking a major change. I've struggled with my weight all my life. I've tried diets, excercise and even appetite suppressing pills. And I've failed at all of them and I didn't fail from not trying. I would lose a little weight here and there but whatever I did it always seemed to come back. I'm now at my heaviest at 390lbs and need to have this procedure if I want to get healthy and stay and the job I love. Updated on 16 Mar 2017: I'm 6 weeks post op and I'm down 73 pounds. I couldn't be happier with the results so far. Ive experienced some nausea here and there but nothing major. I had severe nausea the day of and the day after surgery and some severe pain. That all subsided within a few days and I was only on pain pills for 5-6 days. I've had a little difficulty eating here and there. I still drink a protein shake here and there for breakfast to get my protein in. I just started adding vegetables in 2 weeks ago and in another 2 weeks I can add some fruit in. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an option for losing weight. If I had to do it all over again tomorrow I would without hesitation.
Wasn't even considering this. One day I was on the hospital web site to pay a bill and noticed an ad for bariatric treatment. Started researching and went to a seminar. Originally was considering the balloon but after doing further surgery decided to do the sleeve. This program seemed very good with a lot of support after surgery. Took months to get all my testing done. Was originally scheduled for 1/31. Had to reschedule so I could get cataract surgery done before my eye doctor left the country for three months. Now scheduled for 3-6-17. Have my pre-op seminar and bloodwork on 2-14 and will find out more details and get more questions answered about what to expect. Can't wait to be able to buy regular size clothes! Needed a new winter coat and some new pants for work but put it off. Wearing the oldies. New summer clothes! Updated on 20 Feb 2017: Start my pre-op diet tomorrow and go to sign consents with the doctor the next day. Went to the pre-op information class last week and got a lot of details on the procedure and time after. I need to get to the store today. Got rid of everything I won't be able to eat and need to finish stocking what I need to eat. I was surprised to see some people are on a total liquid diet prior to surgery. I am on no carb calorie restricted: two protein shake meals and one meal of 4 ounces of protein and 1/2 cup of veggies. I have been cutting down on carbs for the last several weeks to wean myself off of them. Need to get the house in order so I don't have to worry about anything when I get home. Updated on 22 Feb 2017: Went to sign my consults today. Dr. is very personable. Got my blood thinner syringes for when I get home and my narcotics script filled. Went to Costco and stocked up on good meats for the rest of my pre-op diet and more protein shakes. Cut the meat into 4 ounce servings and put it through the Food Saver. Looking up recipes to make meat and veggies extra tasty since I will be eating such small amounts. Want to get the house extra spiffed up so I don't have to do much other than laundry and dishes for several days after getting home. Next I need to figure out what I will need to get from the grocery store for my meals after surgery. Got some Biotin since that is supposed to help prevent hair loss. My hair has already thinned just from the aging process. I don't need to lose any more! Looking forward to buying new spring/summer clothes. Updated on 4 Mar 2017: Surgery is Monday, March 6th. I am terribly constipated and hemorrhoids are raging. I have to get this in check before Monday. I can't go to surgery already having problems. So much I wanted to get done this weekend and I feel awful. Updated on 8 Mar 2017: Had my sleeve done Monday 3-6. When they got me up to move into my bed I thought "What have I done?" First day/night was rough with getting in and out of bed to use the bathroom. Home today and feeling much better. Still quite a bit of soreness on the left side but know it will get better every day. Don't feel like eating at all but know I have to. Taking it one day at a time and know in a few weeks I will be able to eat regular foods. Received great care from doctors, nurses, and nurse assistants. Updated on 25 Nov 2017: Twenty-seven pounds to go for normal BMI! Can't believe what a blessing this has been. Life is so much better. My senior years are going to be much better than they would've been without the surgery. I've gone from a size 2X to medium. Put myself in the poor house buying new summer and now winter clothes. Compliments galore on how I look! I've been told I look 15 years younger. Feel 20 years younger! I was at the chiropractor's office the other day sitting in the waiting room. A man walked out and said, "Don't you look pretty sitting there!" I sensed he is the type who flirts every chance he gets but he made me feel good. I think the ad for the bariatric surgeon's office was meant to come up on the hospital web page when it did. Otherwise I wouldn't be where I am today.
