Dr Volshteyn is an amazing doctor! He is extremely thorough, skilled, and patient. I would recommend him to anyone looking for help with lipedema or any plastic surgery. He is knowledgeable and doesn’t try to push you into anything you don’t need
Doc is great most of the time. Office staff is a problem. Needs more office staff. Manager lacks empathy ,compassion and urgency. Spoke with several other patients who have same complaints. Receptionist who answers phone is always polite and professional. However office manager treats patients as a burden
I suffer with lipedema - a fat disorder where the fat cannot be exercised or dieted away (it's debilitating and most often leads to disability). So the only treatment is liposuction. I have had the 1st of 4 surgeries with Dr. Volshteyn to address the lipedema...he did the knees to ankles area on both legs...removed about 20 litres of fluid (liquified fat) which is about 40 pounds! AMAZING...I am still in recovery, but I am about to move without the feeling of dragging sandbag legs... I'm looking forward to the rest of my surgeries as I have never felt better in my life. Dr. Volshteyn is an excellent doctor - caring...helpful...willing to go the extra mile for his patients.
My husband is 6 years younger than I am and I didn't want to look older - and now I don't!
They were very good about the right diet before the surgery, be sure to follow it.I did a breast lift and upper tummy tuck and If I were to give any advice I would stay one night in the hospital for comfort instead of keeping my friend awake with my needs.Drink tons of water and do nothing for a week. low salt soup was my friend. Also I did the oxygen chamber after and that help beyond belief.
I have always Accepted and liked the way I look.... and taken care of myself to be the best that I can be... Exercise, healthy diet, positive thinking... So, for me it was only natural to want to take care of myself cosmetically... and I just wanted to thank YOU Dr. V for making me look just like ME only healthier and a few years younger... I am one month from being 61 years young, so why should that stop me from feeling pretty and healthy?... Dr V. YOU understood JUST what I wanted to have was a natural look and that sometimes less is more... and the quick lift was just the thing for me... along with my eyes... YOU really know how to do it, and I feel just "ME" but... a little bit more glamorous! Lucky ME! Diana .....
I am very happy with my results, it does take a little time to heal but then again good things come to those who wait. My friends and family really are very supportive with my "new " me and I cant say enough good things about this place. I am planning to have a little bit more work done down the line on other areas that bother me and I cant wait to save up.
Two years ago I had tummy tuck and breast reduction performed by Dr. Vohlstyn. While I am happy with my breast reduction the tummy tuck am not happy with results, I have " dog ears" on both sides which are very uneven. While Vohlsteyn was still in Reno I told him I was not happy his reply was I gained wait and rest of care was put in the hands of his assistant. Am now in the process of finding someone to redo what Vohlstyn messed up. Needless to say I am going to a lot more careful in whom I choose this time.
I had the Quicklift procedure 8 months ago. Along with a cheek and browlift. I have been unhappy from the moment I woke up. One cheek was pulled up to my side burn area and there was a deep lateral sweep from the corner of my mouth going up to my ear. The other side of my face was barely lifted. I understand the drawbacks of the mini-lifts. My doctor states that the Quicklift is a modification of the Macs lift. More manipulation is given to the SMAS muscle. He compares the results to be almost as good as a full facelift. I am very unhappy with my Quicklift results. My face whole face is now asymmectrical. My doctor thinks I look great. I don't like the face that I have a hugh lateral sweep on the left side of my lower face and sagging skin on the right side of my face. He is willing to lift the right side with an incision around my sideburn. Pulling up in that area does lift my face....He also want to inject lipo-dessolve into the lateral sweep to flatten it out. I don't think this will work. Updated on 2 Aug 2009: Updated on 6 Oct 2009:
I chose my procedures based on my budget and my expectations. This was my first time having an elective procedure and I am very glad I did it. I will be doing more in the future to slow down that thing they call "ageing gracefully."
If you are otherwise in good shape, and you have leg pain that is not easily explained, if you have easy bruising, if you have a weird or unusual sensitivity to touch, there are chances you might have a lipedema, even if you were very slim. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to treat it. Eventually, most ladies decide to either live with it or have liposuction. If you are thin, vaser assisted, Lipedema liposuction can be beneficial in improving your symptoms. Please remember that Lipedema is a lifelong disease, and with any additional hormonal changes, you may experience significant changes and even worsening, even if you have liposuction.
That's a lot of questions packed into one. Let's take them one at a time. Congratulations on losing weight. Another side of congratulations on being able to keep it off. Unfortunately, you will experience laxity of the size. Vaser is designed to loosen up fat tissue prior to liposuction. Vaser by itself does not remove the fat; it just liquefies it. Then we perform traditional or power-assisted liposuction to remove it. I do not see that Vaser explicitly tightens the skin. It can help some, but this is not a primary function of Vaser. There are better devices to tighten the skin. Most likely, if you do not use that power device, you will have to live with looser skin. The cost of liposuction can vary from $20,000 to $30,000 for Lipedema. Usually require more than one surgery. Some surgeons will do five or six if they operate in their surgery center. The surgeon who does high-volume liposuction, like me, can usually accomplish that in two surgeries. A lot of patients who have symptoms can have their procedure covered by their insurance. I provided a link to our website below. Happy to help you if you're interested.
Dr. David Amron, from Roxbury Clinic in California, is a very experienced Lipedema dermatologist who performs liposuction surgery. However, he's not the only one. Dr. Jaime Schwartz in California is also performing a lot of liposuction surgery, and he is a plastic surgeon. Dr. Gutowski is in Chicago; he's a plastic surgeon performing liposuction surgery also. I perform liposuction surgery in New Jersey. And I am a board-certified plastic surgeon. The technique of liposuction in Germany is different from ours. However, I cannot tell you that it is much better. Liposuction surgery for Lipedema does cost more because it takes significantly more time. However, in our experience, lipedema can be covered by insurance, which is what most of my patients get. So if you have commercial coverage, desire to have it done, and endurance to go through the Lipedema preauthorization process, we're happy to help you also.
This is not an easy question to answer. We are still determining what lipedema is. We do have theories. In the United States, based on the work of Dr. Karen Herbst, we believe that lipedema is associated with lymphatic system malfunction. If that is a primary problem, the fat abnormality is secondary. On the other hand, not everybody shares the same opinion, and some people believe that the problem with fat is primary. If the fat is abnormal, transferring to another area would not be safe. Technically, the procedure can be performed, and if it's unsuccessful or causes additional pain, it can also be sectioned off later on. I don't think anybody will give you any medical clearance to do it safely. At this point, you're taking a risk. If this risk is acceptable to you, then you do it. If it's not, you don't.
Lipedema rarely starts in the arms. Remember, lipedema is not heavy arms or fat accumulation. Lipedema is increased pain, increased bruising, and hypersensitivity. Women with arm involvement usually complain of being unable to even check blood pressure because of pain and discomfort. That is not what I get from your post. I congratulate you on losing 70 pounds with weight loss surgery. If indeed you have a lipedema, the treatment is usually a combination of liposuction and skin excision. Some other skin tightening procedures can be performed using energy devices, but the results may only be partially predictable in lipedema patients.
