If you are looking for a hair transplant clinic that provides amazing results, then look no further! Dr. Blake Bloxham and his team are just incredible! I have been battling with hair loss since my early teen years due to the constant pulling of my hair by tying a Sikh turban (traction alopecia). Dr. Bloxham is an expert at treating all kinds of hair loss - including the widely seen genetic hair loss/male pattern baldness. This was my first cosmetic surgery (in fact, the first surgery in my life), and it could not have gone any better! Dr. Bloxham excellently provided all the answers to my questions and made sure I was doing well every step of the way. The rest of the team were so wonderful as well! Everyone is so intelligent, kind, and professional; I truly had a phenomenal experience here at this clinic! I highly recommend this clinic to my friends, my family, and anyone else looking to get great results! Dr. Bloxham and his team really care about providing results, care about what is best for the patient, and are very ethical; they do not try to empty out your wallet as some other clinics do. Moreover, this was a life changing experience for me, and it is all due to the immensely skilled Dr. Bloxham and his immensely skilled team; I am going to be so much more confident with my hair being restored! I am very excited and looking forward to the end results! I will post my final results on here once I get there. Just recently I had a small FUT procedure of ~ 670 grafts done with Dr. Blake Bloxham of Feller & Bloxham in NY. MY donor area is pretty much played out after many hair transplants. This is likely my last dance with hair transplants. I’ve had 8 previous FUT procedures with some really inept and/or morally-bankrupt doctors and limited technology— I began in 1984. Many of these FUTs led to poor results, significant scaring, and the need for remedial work. This is my second consecutive FUT procedure with Dr. Bloxham. I’m hoping it will turn out as productive as the last one a few years ago ( I can’t recall how many grafts that was ). That procedure was largely focused on the front/mid-scalp areas, and I was really pleased with Dr. Bloxham‘s skill and his kind and generous nature. Anyway, here’s my pic of crown area after Day 6. Most scabs had fallen off at this point. Grafts are small singles and some doubles I believe. Scar not shown, but healing well.
I’ve always had a high hairline that I wanted to be brought forward and after researching into it came to Dr. Bloxham and booked my surgery at the consult. The surgery went well according to doc, but we’ll have to wait to see the results and as a woman, I’m going to have to wait even longer to see the hair grow to catch up to the rest of my hair. I must say the team at the office was wonderful, Stephanie, Diamond, Bebe, and Bella were fantastic today. I just hope everything grows in as we hope and it wasn’t all for naught!!! Updated on 23 Jan 2021: It was an FUT transplant not FUE. They cut the strip of skin from the back of my head, stapled me up, extracted the hairs and then re-implanted individually and some in groups of two into my forehead. Updated on 23 Jan 2021: I always had a very high hairline / big forehead and I thought this would be the best way to bring the hairline forward / down. I read an article on daily mail about dr. Bloxhams practice and saw good reviews so I figured yolo let’s do it.
Great experience with Dr. Bloxham! Anyone considering hair transplant surgery on the East Coast should consult with him. I first started looking at hair transplant surgery around 5 years ago. I live in New Jersey, and one name that keep coming up was Dr. Feller. Life happened, I got busy, and I decided to put the hair transplant off for a while. Things calmed down around a year ago and I started focusing on the hair loss again. It was something that had plagued me since my late 20s. I always thought I looked 15 years older than I really was, and this feeling never went away. The timing was finally right so I decided to start looking again. So I looked up Dr. Feller again, and found out he had partnered with Dr. Bloxham in the time since I last researched surgery. I started watching the videos the doctors put on Youtube, and really liked what Dr. Bloxham was saying about strip surgery (the surgery I was considering). So I scheduled a consultation to see what this new partner was all about! Dr. Bloxham was great during the consultation. He was friendly, knowledgable, and very easy to talk to. We spent around 45 minutes going over results from his other patients he thought would be similar to mine, and also drew out the hair transplant plan. He recommended the strip (also called FUT) surgery as well, and I liked this because it is the method I was comfortable with. I left with a good gut feeling. I saw two other doctors in New York, but one only did the FUE surgery with a robot and the other doctor could not move as many follicles in one session. I thought everything over for a few weeks and decided to schedule a procedure with Dr. Bloxham. The plan was to use 2,500 grafts to give me a new hairline and fill everything in the front and middle of my scalp. This is where I had been missing hair since I was a kid, and I could not wait to never see this bald area again! I went in on the morning of my surgery and was greeted by the doctor. We took pictures, drew on the same plan, and prepared for surgery. While we were going over everything in his office, his surgery team started showing up. I couldn't believe how many people showed up for just my surgery! He told me that he was using a team of 7 technicians for my surgery. He said that he always uses big teams for his surgery, especially for the strip surgeries. This lets him move a lot of follicles in a timely manner. Apparently all of the technicians are trained specifically by Dr. Feller and Dr. Bloxham, and the two head technicians have 20 years experience each. The surgery itself was very easy. Dr. Bloxham is telling the truth when he says it's a boring day for the patient! You are awake and sitting or reclining in a chair all day. He says most people sleep or use their phones, but I wanted to know what was going on the whole day so I was chatting with Dr. Bloxham and the technicians the entire time! It was fascinating seeing them work. Like clockwork! Everything went very smoothly, and I was done by around 4PM. Dr. Bloxham took more pictures and video (a very common theme throughout the day) and told me the work looked "beautiful." This is sort of his catchphrase. And it takes a true hair transplant lover to look at my head after surgery and call it beautiful! Dr. Bloxham went over all the after surgery instructions and gave me his cell phone number in case I needed to contact him. There was a little bit of discomfort the first night, but it was pretty much gone by the next morning. I was very careful washing the new hairs for the first few days, but Dr. Bloxham said it all looked great when I came back to get my staples removed 10 days after surgery. Dr. Bloxham explained how the hair transplants grow, but told me that he really does not evaluate until the 6 month mark. Everything came in and grew as he explained, and I could not believe how quickly 6 months went by. I went back to his office for a check up at 6 months, and he was very happy with the growth. He told me patients forget what they looked like before the surgery, so he likes taking pictures at 6 months and comparing them to ones he takes the morning of surgery. He put them side-by-side and I could not believe it! I forgot (probably on purpose) what my hair looked like before, and was so happy with where I was now. I'm going to go back and see him again at 12 months (this is when he says the results are done), but he sent me the comparison picture he put together during my 6 month follow-up. I'm going to attach it here so everyone can see how far I've come. I really recommend hair transplant surgery to anyone sick of their hair loss. It has been a life-changer for me. I also recommend that anyone considering a hair transplant on the East Coast should consult with Dr. Bloxham. He did such a great job with me, and he also made a scary process very comfortable and easy.
A week past and pulling through. Thank you Dr. Feller and Dr. BloxHam for your compassion and giving me hope for a better day and for helping many others. The office staff are awesome starting with front office Kathy who went above and beyond from expediting my procedure appointment to promptly communicating with me via phone and email. Humbled to meet Dr. BloxHam for the first time, because during 1st procedure I didn't get to see him at the clinic. I arrived at the clinic around 7:40 am took me a while to get a taxi due to snow conditions. Dr. Feller was already there and he greeted me and told me to hang around and to make myself comfortable watching T.V or use rest room. As usual feeling at ease around Dr. Feller and feeling you are truly in trusted hands. A few minutes later, Dr. BloxHam came in and I had never met greet me by name. Dr. BloxHam so kind and caring throughout the procedure he would ask me if I feel pain. Dr. Feller did procedure in the past so he can relate to my pain, but shockingly I felt that Dr. BloxHam was very much understanding to what I am going through. The hardest part is the first anesthesia needles but soon after you start to feel numbness. Thanks to all the technicians Kathy, Bella, Stephanie, Cynthia, Rosa, Lucy, and Beljinder. The staff were so caring to the point that I was afraid to express pain because they will go above and beyond, because I wanted to get over the procedure. Even if I told the technicians please keep going they won't listen. They'll rather call the doctor to administer more anesthesia this way I don't feel pain. 1st procedure about a year ago Dr. feller gave me his direct cell phone number to call him if anything anytime. This procedure Dr. BloxHam went through the post procedure care with me for the second time as previously I was informed by technician Kathy. Dr. BloxHam provided me with his direct cell phone number. Is been a week since my procedure and going through the healing process. I am glad I found the doctors and staff I trust and I can't thank them enough. I told my friends two surgeon took care of me and they are family. They misunderstood thinking that the two surgeons are literally my family, but to me they are my family. Updated on 23 Feb 2017: At 730am on Wednesday February 8th, 2017 was my procedure. Dr. BLOXHAM was already there. He greeted me and I felt so comfortable to return to family. I came back to the doctor who I trust and trusted with my life. Dr. BLOXHAM is a blessing, very caring, compassionate, and humble. Words can't express how I feel and I am sure those who been through same procedure understand how greatful we are. In 2014 after a consultation with Dr. FELLER I chose him over another surgeon, because I knew I found home. Dr. Feller is great, kind, very understanding and the staff are very nice and caring. Those who are undecided I strongly encourage you to make change in your life and don't settle. Don't give up in something you want to change. YOU CAN make the change . I strongly recommend Dr. BLOXHAM to touch your life. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Thank you Dr. FELLER, Dr. BLOXHAM, and staff: Stephanie, Kathy, Bella, Sam, Baljinder, Bj, and Lucy you all are a blessing.
Tarek, You can continue using both minoxidil and finasteride after your transplant -- assuming your clinic agrees and you are side effect free. You will need to temporarily stop the minoxidil immediately after the transplant while the grafts are "anchoring." This time period varies between clinics. I tell my patients they can resume rubbing minoxidil on the scalp at 10 days post-op. The finasteride can be taken normally without any "stopping periods" before, during, or after the transplant. Hi BH, At 5 months, a hair transplant is only around 30% "matured." This means you still have new hairs that have not yet penetrated the scalp, and the hairs that have are still thinner and exhibit different characteristics compared to your native hairs (they may be more wispy, wiry, curly, etc, at this point). You still have a lot of maturing left, so no need to worry at 5 months. Try to monitor your progress, but don't make any official rulings until the 12 month mark. Dr Bloxham
Voris, I do not believe creatine leads to hair loss. Male pattern hair loss (androgenic alopecia) really comes down to genetics. Either your follicles are prone to hormonal hair loss, or they are not. There may be some mitigating factors that can "set off" the loss a little sooner; however, any hairs you lose were genetically programmed to "fall out" eventually. And I don't really believe creatine in-and-of-itself will "set off" the loss. You need to speak with your clinic about re-starting the creatine. All clinics have slightly different post-operative instructions, and you must follow your doctor's instructions "to a T." Hope this helps! Dr. Blake Bloxham
Should be just fine. However, make sure you discuss this with the clinic that performed your FUE. Most clinics have their own set of specific guidelines, and you want to follow these instructions "to a T." Happy growing!
