It really doesn’t get much better than Dr. Benjamin Cooper. My case has been complicated and he agreed to take me on as a patient after 2 difficult rounds (and many surgeries) of attempted breast reconstruction AND after being told by another surgeon no one in Delaware would help me. Glad I didn’t give up andntake that advice any many surgeries it just wasn’t happening. What makes him Delaware’s best plastic surgeon is that he always has a plan. He seems two steps ahead. My left side made it clear it just wasn’t going to cooperate so together we agreed to focus on the right side and remove the expander from the left side and leave it be for as long as it needed to heal. Yes, very devastating but he made it clear it wasn’t hopeless. I’ve always taken pride in my figure and explained to him how I wanted to look given I am a bit bottom heavier and he has done a fantastic job at keeping me loving my body even though I’m down a breast. He is an example for others surgeons for sure. There was a point where I thought it was going to be a total wash. He has operated on me 7 times since May as I just mentioned we had some complications that weren’t anyone’s fault but what sets him aside is that during one post op visit in November he took one look at me and sent me for cultures and he was spot on that i had a systemic infection. I was admitted the next day into the hospital for a week. I had little to no symptoms other than fatigue but having so many surgeries, fatigue comes with the territory. He was on it. It could have been worse had he not followed me so closely. I am able access to the portal and reading his note from that day shows how much he pays attention to everything. If you are in Delaware or close by do not pass over a consult with Dr. Cooper. His attention to detail is like no other and the fact that he seems to care on a serious level (but has a funny sense of humor) and stating the facts without freaking you out is priceless. He welcomes questions and spends whatever amount of time needed with you. His staff is probably the nicest I’ve ever dealt with and given my issues I’ve dealt with many. I don’t think 5 stars is adequate. I’d give much more if I could. I know we will be successful and we are already halfway there. Updated on 31 Mar 2019: I refuse to let the fact that I have only one breast ruin my summer and my beach/vacation time. I don’t want to rush into fixing my left side as I’m exhausted from surgery and I don’t think he does either, so I’ve found a bathing suit that won’t make me look odd given I only have one breast. Not sure if mentioned earlier In review, Dr Cooper took fat from my stomach and put in my chest to round out the right breast and cushion the left breast and while I’m not quite summer ready, I will be very soon. Updated on 4 Apr 2019: Saw Dr. Cooper today for a 4 week post op follow up. All is well thank goodness this the longest I’ve made it with a prosthetic since it all fell apart(round 1) Today he took a quick peak and is pleased as I am with breast and my PERFECT stomach. I can’t say enough about how amazing it looks. Painful but worth it because he added it to my empty left breast area which felt like skin in bones prior to the fat going in. I’m down 8lbs since surgery but that’s probably because I haven’t been eating well. I was so many continuous antibiotics that I got oral thrush. This is the 3rd time having it in a year. Antibiotics wipe out the bad and the good. Keeping it real when I say my mouth is seriously hurting. Saw my primary who called in nystatin to be taken along with the diflucan I’ve already been taking. Other than that small setback we are officially in a holding pattern until the left side is ready. I will need serious prayers for that. ???????????????????????? Updated on 6 Apr 2019: So I hate to jinx it but my right implant has made it a whole month. I think he said I may need another round of fat transfer (OMG underestimated how painful lipo was) but we’ll probably hold off until it’s time for my problem child left breast is ready. It’s crazy that prior To my mastectomy all 8 lumps I had were in my right breast and now my left side neverwants to cooperate. Here is just a couple more pics. I do think my breast is still a bit swollen. All the swelling from the lipo and water retention has subsided from my stomach and he did an amazing lipo job to get the fat. My waist is smaller and my stomach is perfect. I’m very happy and it’s been a long time since I was this happy. Updated on 22 May 2019: So we are now in a waiting game. I got an infection that was successfully treated as an inpatient at the end of March. Not sure if I covered that in my last update. Thankfully with 19 IVs the vancomycin did the trick but my arms are still scarred up. I have been seeing the doc weekly and infectious disease as needed. I saw him last Thursday and he will see me back now in three weeks. I asked about getting scheduled for my left expander because we are coming up on a year of me being without and he won’t touch me to the fall. He is worried with my extensive history of infections, it’s too soon and I’ll be facing another. I felt like someone punched me in the gut. I’m currently on unemployment because I lost my job, of all times, and the doc knows that. When I left the visit he said I need to get a job and exercise. Don’t think I’ve gained weight. And i now have begun exercising. Not sure what to do about the job thing......
I have always had big breasts; I blame my father's genes. His side of the family are filled with big breasted women. I began wearing a bra in the second grade (C cup) and they have grown (until a year ago) as I aged and gained weight. I decided to get a breast reduction when I couldn't bear the back and neck pain anymore. I was very skeptical since I thought my insurance wasn't going to cover the surgery. Fortunately, they flipped the whole bill and I just had to cover prescriptions and post-op garments (sports bras and gauzes). Sidebar: If you're getting a breast reduction, buy sports bras that zip in the front. Great deals at Walmart. Dr. Benjamin Cooper was my PS, and he did a great job explaining the whole process. The time between my consultation and the date of SX was relatively short. The day of the surgery I was prepared and anxious. For some reason whenever I have to count down from 10, I always get the giggles. It's great being put under with happy thoughts. Soon after I was woke in the recovery room. One thing I always tend to do is wake up from anesthesia hysterical, I don't know why it happens but it's always the same. Usually when that happens I have to be sedated. So hopefully when I get my BBL I won't have to worry about that. Anyway, I had to stay overnight in the hospital for observation and then I was sent home. Three days after the breast reduction, I felt the worst pain of my life under my armpits. It was the lipo, lol, and it was my first time getting it done. I didn't expect it to hurt so much but it was awlful. So I popped some painkillers for the next few days to minimize the pain. During my recovery, I didn't heal properly under my left breast. I split back open and it left a horrible scar after it finally healed. But after all was said and done I couldn't wait to wear no bra and have my breast all perky. The best part was not having to go get my bras online from Lane Bryant. I can go into any store and buy a bra for cheap. No more $40 bras for me!!! Overall, I would recommend the breast reduction especially if you want to relieve neck and back pain and stop overpaying for bras. Good luck to anyone considering the procedure. Inbox me if you want to inquire more about the surgery. I'll upload photos later. Updated on 2 Nov 2014: Before and After Pics Updated on 2 Nov 2014:
So I'm 23 a mother of two and was very flat chested and had issues with my mid section. Had my surgery Wednesday morning I've been in extreme amounts of pain but dr. Cooper and the staff at the hospital that took care if me was absolutely amazing. They did a great job. Although I don't have my final results yet I already love the new shape Dr. Cooper has given me. I definitely recommend going to see him. He does not have a website but he is partners with Dr. Saunders which is a well known and very good plastic surgeon in DE and PA as well. Will post again soon my results with pics :) Updated on 25 Mar 2014: More pics to follow later! Updated on 1 Apr 2014: Ok so I'm two weeks post-op. YAY!!!! I've been healing well according to my doctor which is always good news. My new twins feel great! They are still extremely high up still but they are dropping. Not sure if I had posted previously that I got 760cc saline. I got the biggest I could get with what would fit without killing me lol. I'm still in love with them. I'm massaging them daily when in the shower my right one is dropping a lot slower than my left but I just cannot wait for them to be at their final spot. My lipo is still very uncomfortable for me. I wish I would've taken off a whole work week. I'm still pretty swollen and retaining lots of water still. I'm wearing my compression belt pretty much all the time. It still feel very uncomfortable to sit because of the fat injections in my butt. The only time I feel 100% comfy is laying in bed hahaha. I still have brushing in my mid section and it's still hard and number as well. I will post pics of how my boobies are coming along. They look like torpedoes from the side haha .. I should be having my 3rd post-op appointment in about 2 weeks :) Updated on 15 Feb 2016: Absolutely beyond happy with my ending result with my breasts. I get compliments all the time lol a lot of people say they look very natural. Love dr. Cooper!
