I've wanted my nose done for as long as I can remember. Since I was not even a teenager, and I'm 33 now. I ended up getting glasses, which hid the bump I didn't like most of the time, but not always - plus who wants to always be wearing glasses. I decided I wanted LASIK, but not with my current nose. I went to Dr. LaBruna in Manhattan and I could not be more pleased. I did it yesterday and today I feel great. Didn't even need to take Tylenol, nothing. I'm swollen and the bruises are starting, but they aren't that bad. I can already see how perfect and straight my nose is. I'm so so so happy I finally did it Updated on 10 Jun 2017: I'm basically fully recovered. I have sliiight bruising which I could cover with makeup if I needed to - but since I have to leave the tape on till I go for my follow up Monday, it seems silly to bother to put makeup on. My swelling is basically gone. The inside corners of my eyes we're staying to turn purple the first night, so I thought my bruising and black eyes would be really bad, but it just never happened. Updated on 11 Jun 2017: Swelling and bruising are totally gone. Amazing. I'm thrilled. Updated on 18 Jun 2017: And it's like this was never not my nose. The downtime was nothing and the results are perfect. I thought the recovery process would have been so much longer and tougher but I'm so happy to be proven wrong. Dr LaBruna was incredible. I'm so grateful. Updated on 19 Jun 2017: This is 6 days post op, the day after I got my bandages off. I'm told that the final form doesn't come till usually a year, but I love it so much already that if it didn't change at all past this, I'd be fine. It's so natural but perfect. Updated on 22 Jun 2017: I forgot to put in my contacts because I was running late today. A whole day with glasses left dents on my nose - I guess I'm more swollen than I thought. It's hard because I don't know exactly how big to expect my nose to be, so I think it's great as is but I guess it's still swollen lol. Definitely won't make the glasses mistake again any time soon, it's so tender now. Updated on 27 Jun 2017: It's insane that this is only two and a half weeks after my surgery. I didn't even take these pictures for my nose, but I looked at them later and was blown away by how good it looks already so I wanted to post it here so you can see how I'm healing. Updated on 7 Jul 2017: I've gotten so lucky overall with the swelling - I've read about some girls whose nostrils have closed up completely for a few days afterwards - so I didn't really pay much mind to it, but now that it's been getting hotter, I noticed that my nose will get swollen if I stay out all day in the heat. I'm very conscientious about putting on sunblock tho, which I think helps. Even when it's swollen, it doesn't look terrible, it just makes me notice how great it normally looks. Within a few hours of being in AC, it's back to normal.
As a holiday gift , I was given some skin care products developed by this doctor in NYC. I want to make it clear that I've not had any procedures by this doctor, nor have I met him, I'm just fortunate enough to be using some skin care products that this doctor developed with his wife - within a week of using the RESTORE 50 , I saw a HUGE visible difference , my skin looked dewier, younger , fresher. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY , it felt different, only way to describe it is , it felt younger!!!!! I was given three other products that I am just now starting to use (I was using other products that I wanted to finish using rather than store) I am now using the ANYTIME CREAM, GREEN TEA EYE REPAIR , ENZYMATIC EXFOLIATOR. I will post pictures of my skin as I use products for you all to see the difference ! I hope the camera captures the difference I can see in person because it's truly dramatic! Updated on 27 Jan 2016: Viable difference using all products, eye cream, EXFOLIATOR and ANYTIME cream, BUT STILL HANDS DOWN - MY FAVORITE PRODUCT IS "Restore 50" W/ herbal extracts , Green tea and Red Wine - Antioxidants Retinol.... I call it the miracle cream! My fantasy would be to be able to take a bath in it daily!
I went back and forth deciding what to do about this mole on my cheek that I hated. A few people told me it was special and made me unique (a la Cindy Crawford), but in reality I knew I would be happier with a scar that would fade over time than a mole which couldn't be covered up. I finally took the plunge and decided to get it removed. I talked to a few doctors, but felt the most comfortable with a plastic surgeon for the procedure. Feel free to message with any questions, I know this process can be uneasy! Updated on 14 May 2015: Photos with and without makeup, 7 weeks after the surgery. Looks good so far! You can see the scar, but it doesn't bother me that much, and the area around it isn't red. I need to figure out a better makeup regime now...any suggestions for good heavy concealers that won't look cakey?
