Vampire Facelifts do work and aren't just another marketing buzzword. Here is a brief summary of the process; We take some of your blood and spin it down in a centrifuge. We then get the plasma, which has the platelets in it. We remove and discard the red blood cells, and are left with a yellow colored serum. This serum has all the useful parts of the blood, plus the platelets, which stimulate healing. We then inject this PRP into your face, just underneath the skin. You see an immediate difference with increased volume in the area of the injections followed by a slight decrease over the next four days or so. Then over the next three to four weeks you see the full plumping results as the body's platelets and growth factors stimulate the production of collagen and improve the volume and texture of the skin. The benefits of this procedure are that it is more cost effective for the volume that you are injecting into the face, it lasts longer than most fillers, it improves the quality and texture of the skin, and PRP is a natural product of your body.

Melasma is a common skin condition of adults in which light to dark brown or grayish pigmentation develops, mainly on the face. Although it can affect both genders and any race, it is more common in women and people with darker skin-types who live in sunny climates. PRP has proven effective in the treatment of Melasma. The one good thing about PRP for Melasma is the fact that PRP won’t make the condition worse unlike IPL, Fraxel or other treatments. PRP injections work by supplying growth factors to reduce the pigmentation. And being an independent treatment with no downtime, it can be done in conjunction with conventional treatments for Melasma to add and enhance the effects. I'm 42 years old and had 2 vials of sculptra injected in my cheeks, hollow, temples and lower face in January. I went back to my doctor 6 weeks later and he injected another 2 vials, for a total of 4 vials. It is now exactly 4 weeks after my last treatment and one side of my face is noticeably fuller than the other. My question is, is it possible that the less full side will fill out at a different time and "catch up" to the fuller side? My doctor is a board certified dermatologist.

Most patients will see the results of their Botox injection begin to appear after 3 or 4 days but it can day up to 14 days to see the maximum effect. If you are still unhappy with the results after this period has elapsed I would suggest you followup with your doctor.

I'm 34 years old and had Botox 4 days ago. I asked the practitioner to give me a small dose as I'm in the mental health field and wanted to still have movement so she used 16 units. Now my left eyebrow is higher than the right and when I try to make a frown the middle is completely frozen. Also the front of the left eyebrow (since it can't move to make a frown) just goes up and the skin below eyebrow in more droopy. Can anything be done to rectify or should I just wait until the Botox starts to subside?

Thanks for your question. We are asked this question a lot at the clinic. Many of our patients understand these brands are different from the majority of the hyaluronic acid fillers we offer, but they don't understand exactly why or how they differ. Here are some of the basic differences: Sculptra and Radiesse are both long terms fillers but use different mechanisms. Sculptra is made of biocompatible, biodegradable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which is slowly and naturally absorbed by the body and helps to restore lost collagen. Radiesse contains tiny calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. Because these microspheres are similar to natural minerals in your body, allergy testing is not required. Radiesse typically only requires a single treatment session to see results that can last as long as a year while Sculptra is considered a biostimulator, injected over several treatment sessions; it targets one of the underlying causes of facial aging: the loss of facial collagen. Once injected, Sculptra is gradually and naturally absorbed by the body and promotes the production of collagen, one of the major building blocks of tighter, more youthful-looking skin. Sculptra's improvements appear gradually and last two years or more. I generally like to use Sculptra due to its longevity and the natural results that can be achieved.

The obvious benefit is that Bellafill it is a longer-lasting solution. As temporary fillers are full of synthetic and other natural materials, they are easily broken down by the body and absorbed taking them past the point of being effective; Bellafill uses unique microspheres that cannot be absorbed which means that they stay effective for a longer period. Bellafill is currently the only FDA approved “permanent” filler. The effects aren't permanent however due to the natural aging process, but it does last significantly longer than other types of dermal fillers so if you are unhappy with results they are hard to correct. That is why it is important to seek out a very experienced injector who is familiar with Bellafill.
