I would like to introduce myself as a contributing member of people seeking Biopolymer Removal/ Silicone Injection Removal community. I will break it down in a neat and personable manner so you can just skip to the parts that are of value to you while enjoying my writing piece. Each part with be sectioned off with capital letters. As I am writing this, I am 12 hours post-op in Cali, Colombia. PLEASE NOTE I did not proof read I just wrote from the heart and I am tired INTRO – Between the ages of 20/21 I was a dancer and got silicone injections in my buttock area 2 times, I knew of other girls getting the injections and to me they seemed fine. I was seeking a non-invasive way to have projection in my buttock area. I started experiencing pain 2 years later after injections. Could not take hot showers, work out, be outside during certain temperatures without experiencing excruciating pain. Of course, I research and saw that other people with silicone injections were experiencing the same thing. Here we are 8 years later, and I am seeking removal. DOCTOR RESEARCH - I have conducted about 5 years of research I have conducted interviews with people personally, consulted with several doctors in the US as well as Colombia. To reach this moment I have chosen Dr. Andres Diaz Paz to be my doctor for the procedure. Although I promise to be very transparent about the procedure, I would like to note that I will just speak on the positives and not drop names of doctors. Going forward I chose Dr Andres Diaz Paz as my doctor because throughout my 5 years he is the only doctor THAT I FELT was consistent. Of course, I know different doctors work for different people so don’t let my opinion sway you from your decision. There are so many people willing to share their stories and speak with me one on one and for that I will forever be grateful. STIGMA OF COLOMBIA OR TRAVELING FOR SURGERY – I would like for anyone reading this section who is afraid of leaving the country for surgery. I am a native New Yorker, I never went on an international trip, I barely speak any Spanish and never did a body surgery where I went under anesthesia before this trip. The aesthetics in Colombia is way different than America, even when I got Botox here in Colombia, women were asking me what I was getting, I told them in shame Biopolymers removal… the females were like “I had that surgery too”, “me too”, “you’re going to feel great afterwards” and they would even go to the back of the practice to show me their scars and reconstruction. The people here are extremely caring, diligent and understand biopolymers with excellent bedside manners. It’s a beautiful city and looking forward to coming back for vacation. SILICONE/ BIOPOLYMER REMOVAL RESEARCH – I’ve conducted research on this topic from a lot of reading, reading journals, and articles from scientist conducted experiments, from all regions of the world Asia, south America, Europe etc. There is just not enough light shed on this topic, you must dig deep and understand how to do research sometimes it’s not just a click away on google. And of course, my favorite form of research connecting with the people personally. My personal experience and symptoms include, arthritis, joint pain, aching muscles, memory loss, anxiety, depression, discoloration, and it’s possible there could be more but there’s no true way to determine if it’s because of biopolymers or other factors. We: (people I’ve researched and personal experience) made mistakes so you don’t have to : do’s and don’ts of biopolymers. ---DON’T wear underwear with synthetic material, excessive tanning (causes discoloration), heavy workout, running, sauna, no bbl until foreign material is removed, no liposuction to avoid migration, avoid pain medications unless necessary, avoid trauma, falling, smacking of butts >_> you know, ---DO practice an anti-inflammatory diet while the foreign materials are still in you, practice pain tolerance and other means of pain management, get an mri without contrast, understand that ther will be scaring but health is the most important factor. BE KIND TO YOURSELF life is hard and we all make mistakes so always remember that ^_^ TRAVEL AND RECOVERY HOME - You must be fully vaccinated to enter Colombia, I took the PCR test but nobody asked me for it, they just asked for my vaccination card -_- but that’s ok better to be safe. The plane was empty I had the whole row to myself so now is the time to go. I stood at Harmony Recovery house you can google them at “Harmony Recovery House Cali, Colombia”, if you need to go out you will always have a companion, they have a driver but he only takes you to appointments, pick up and drop off airport. COST $80 USD per night for small private room. American Airlines can range 200 – 500 I paid for the extra space and ability to change flight with insurance cause you never know ABOUT MY PRE-OP – (in USA) On and off for 8 years I practiced an anti-inflammatory diet, 2 weeks before surgery I got blood work in the states hemoglobin needed to be 12.5 or higher, I took iron pills and ate a lot of yogurt with fruits. (In Colombia) another blood test, ekg and urine same, and a separate MRI without contrast, and you will have to take a rapid test 24hr before surgery, no eating 12hrs before surgery. Your doctor will set up appointments for you in Cali, Colombia. COST: covid test $20USD, blood work ekg urine sample $50USD, mri $140USD, taxis, range from $1USD - $10USD SURGERY – I cannot speak so much on this as I am a couple of hours post-op but I will most definitely be posting again. I have a lot of time on my hands. BUT I received good news about mri, the foreign material was placed superficially on the muscle meaning it did not compromise my muscle, so I just hate to remove the damaged fatty tissue. I had a consultation but didn’t have many questions because he was responsive on whatsapp so it was more of an explanation of my MRI and what I should expect after surgery. I was given 2 compression garments (fajas) and you can buy more at their office, I was given epidural and other form (I forgot the name sorry). I opted out of pain pump because I am not a fan of opioid medication but as for my pain it feels like I did a heavy squat workout. I have yet to see my results because I am in my compression garment BUT I can tell you it’s small lol. I don’t mind because I might seek reconstructive surgery, as I mentioned earlier I have conducted a lot of research and seen BEAUTIFUL results of reconstructive surgery. And honestly what’s more beautiful than having your heath? NOTHING. ---COST 8500 for surgery, 200 for pain pump (if you want) and 1500 for wound-vac. I opted for wound vac for faster healing and after all reviews I decided I wanted one as well. PLEASE NOTE pricing may vary from person to person depending on their case. I am just telling you what I paid. Next time I will talk about the supplies you might need that you actually don’t and what I actually used throughout this journey and of course, more post-op photos Updated on 29 Mar 2022: Just following up on this journey 3 weeks post op. The structure of this update will be more of a story time In total I was in colombia for 15 days, 10 days with the wound vac.... I cannot stress enough, if you get this surgery get that wound vac. I have been able to sit down comfortably for the past 2 days. I feel like once I got back home from Colombia I was more comfortable and able to rest with ease. The airplane ride was not fun no amount of cushion could make me comfortable not so much in pain though. Definitely request a wheelchair and tell then you are post op to avoid lines because it was not fun. I took these photos today and I am loving the hairline scar, the 2 holes you see are from the wound vac but i have high hopes that they will go away. He also gave me a lift and that cellulite is virtually gone. I have made an appointment for reconstructive surgery with dr diaz already for October and soo excited to share that journey as well. I wanted to say about my first meeting with dr diaz. I didnt have demands for the surgery I just wanted to poison out of me and I just loved that even though I didnt have any "vain" concerns he still practices his artistry on his patients. I look at my scar and experience and honestly wish I had done it sooner. Words cannot express how shocked I am that all pain free and realized that I was living in pain for all those years. Literally night and day. So so grateful. SUPPLIES USED I was the type of person that over packed but heres a list of the things I actually used -Micropore tape -gauze -alcohol pads -arnica tablets -oversized pads not diapers -pee funnel THE BEST -iron tablets
Great experience with Dr. Diaz Paz. I initially wanted a closed removal with immediate reconstruction but after viewing my scans he told me I would require open procedure ( I had bipolymer in muscle tissue which is what was causing the worst inflammation and pain) and need to wait 6 months for reconstruction. At first I was sad but realized I appreciated his honesty and wanting to decrease risk and infection after surgery. I arrived 3 days prior to get current bloodwork, pregnancy test, and Covid test (about $95 USD) and another scan (about $135 USD). The day of surgery I also decided to go with a pain pump ($150 USD). The surgery itself (about $8300 USD) for me, took 2 hours but I was told varies greatly between patients depending on severity. We decided to use minimal sedation as the healing process after is better, I was warned I may wake up during surgery and I did but it was toward the end, I remember saying some strange things and passing back out before waking up in recovery. In recovery the nurse placed the VAC this increases blood flow to incision, decreases healing time, decreases risk of infection ($1500USD). You have to stay in recovery until you are able to pee on your own... the first time I tried I threw up a bit but eventually went and went to my recovery house. He (or his office) WhatsApp messaged me and the nurse day 1 post op, I had a post op visit 4 days after surgery, 10 days after and will have one more at day 17 he always answers all my questions. I had 1 visit on day 6 with the nurses to change my VAC on me and on two other occasions a nurse came to the recovery house and changed the container that catches the fluid. 10 days total I wore the vac, totally worth it! Also, anytime the nurse at the recovery house or myself reached out to the doctor on my behalf he responded swiftly. Because of the large wound the doctor put me on a no dairy, no greasy food, high protein diet that the recovery house accommodated. I stayed at IMI recovery house for 21 days total (about $2000 total) highly recommend this house! Overall, Dr. Diaz Paz provided excellent communication with myself and my recovery house nurse which allowed for total care. Also, he did a great job on the surgery the incision is well placed and I do not look disfigured at all. I am 13 days post op and the surgical wound looks good just waiting for the drain holes to close before I am cleared to go back to the states. Will definitely be returning to Dr. Diaz Paz in 6 months for reconstruction as I would still like my hip dips filled. Updated on 21 Jun 2021: Great news! I am no longer experiencing numbness in my upper thigh which was one of the side effects I was having prior to surgery. I am guessing it is due to increased blood flow after removal. At my last visit today they removed some additional fluid from each cheek. The scar looks great and is expected to only get better!
Hi ladies. Like everyone else, i made the same mistake of getting butt injections 8 years ago and to make it even worse i got lipo donde with a bbl to remove the injections like 4 years ago. This is the worst thing you can do because lipo only will melt the injections and cause the silicone to migrate to other parts of your body. Please don’t do this. My symptoms came back like a year later after the lipo, i had discoloration , dead skin, my back used to hurt, my legs, hair loss, insomnia , etc, etc. Until i made the decision to look for a doctor that actually knows what was he doing. Updated on 19 Oct 2019: After almost 2 years of research, traveling to colombia to visit 2 of the most famous doctors over there (Rios and Diaz ) I choose Dr Diaz. Let’s star by saying he is like an angel from heaven. His human quality and how much he cares about patients is something we don’t find in doctors anymore. I schedule surgery for September 27, 2019 Updated on 19 Oct 2019: I arrived in Colombia like 4 days before surgery for all the exams and stuff and I stay in Revital Recovery House which is an amazing recovery house. My surgery was early in the morning and it took like 5 hours. I came out with the vac which is the drain machine that applies negative pressure and helps restore tissues. Ladies if you can afford this machine please don’t think y Twice about getting this drain system. I also pay for the bomb which is a pain medication that helps with pain. I will be honest and tell you I had no idea what pain is on this procedure. The doctor had to cut me under the butt and also above because all the injections were on my genitals. Updated on 19 Oct 2019: After 16 days with the vac machine it was removed by the dr and my incision was so good that I couldn’t believe it. I prepared myself for the worst because of my skin conditions and when i saw how good my surgery was I couldn’t believe it was true. Updated on 19 Oct 2019: I came home after 21 days in colombia. It is unbelievable. I missed my family so much but i am so haooy with my surgery and the amazing job the doctor did. He is an amazing doctor who cares about how are you going to feel after this surgery about yourself. I know it is not beautiful but i know i am healthy and i am alive and I can comeback in 4 months for reconstruction. Updated on 19 Oct 2019: Here are some pictures
We all know the story young & Foolish , I had two rounds of silicone injected almost 19 years ago !!! So I am going back to Cali in April for one last bbl, after my removal I just feel that this is needed to get myself back to the same way I was. I know Paz will do a wonderful Job. This will be my third time going to him. I did my removal in 2017 reconstruction later on in the same Year now my final Bbl Updated on 23 Mar 2019: I really want this surgery to go well, this would be the last finishing touch to get me back to what I feel like my body was before I had all the silicone removed. I really like Dr. Paz for his professionalism, his constant researching on how to do surgeries safe and effectively making sure all his patients come out with the best and most healthy results. I am doing everything on my part with the iron and vitamins and am hopeful and optimistic that my results will be great. I have booked everything from flight to Airbnb. One last payment this week Friday and my surgery will be paid in full. April 24th is my surgery date, the time is getting closer and closer. I always get nervous ???? but I’m ready to get this over with. It’s not my first time at the rodeo lol. I’m just hoping that everything is smooth and proportioned, that is my goal and to make sure I don’t catch any infections, praying that doesn’t occur that’s why I’m staying 10 days as requested by Dr. Paz. I haven’t even really purchased anything because I have a lot of sun dresses, arnica gel, just need to get pads for incision area, and some compression socks. I have compression sleeves for my arms just in case he does lipo them. I have fajas galore so I’m not worried about that. I will also have another faja made once I get to cali after surgery. I’m hoping that I can definitely get as much massages as possible while I’m there. Planning on 2 a day, one in the morning and one at night or afternoon. Just want to get as much liquid drainage out as possible before flying back home. Just ready to get back into the gym and strength train. Get my body back into tip top shape! Updated on 7 Apr 2019: Well the time is a ticking, I’m one week away from flying out to Cali for my procedure. I nervous and also very excited. I’ve started packing a bunch of dresses, just making mental notes as to what I need to bring with me. I am fully trust Dr. Andres Diaz Felipe Paz to do the best job as possible. Vaser lipo and bbl is what I’m getting done. I’m ready to do this and God willing this will be the last round I will ever need. ???? Updated on 24 Apr 2019: Today was surgery day and everything went well. Dr. Paz delivered EXACTLY what I wanted. I wish I could give him 1,000 stars. As always him and his staff deliver extraordinary high level of services. Always attentive and listens to his patients. I start my massages with Sandra in the morning and have 10 of them to get done get the swelling down. But overall I am sooooooo freaking happy with my results. Ladies I can’t speak for anyone else but the level of professionalism, sincerity and over knowledge you will get with Dr. Paz is immeasurable. He is the best in Cali and you will not be disappointed at all!!! I will post some photos as soon as I can ladies. Love and light! Updated on 27 Apr 2019: Today I am 3 days post op and already loving my results. Everything is nice and even and rounded exactly how I wanted it. Not too big, not too small just right for my frame. I’ve been doing my massages with Sandra since the after surgery and it has been helping a lot with the swelling. I am going to get me a custom made faja before I leave so I can’t take home with me. I feel like this stage one is getting a little loose. I would like more compression. But overall my experience has been a great one! Updated on 2 Feb 2022: I wasn't going to start a new review, but I want to be honest and hopefully help another person suffering from biopolymers. I was 19 when I was lied to by a nurse who injected me with what he said was high grade hydrogel to enhance my butt. I had only 2 sessions with him in a medical setting and it has cost me sooo much grief, depression and physical pain. I thought all of my troubles were coming to end when I found Dr. Andres Díaz Paz, I did my research and went with him because I felt he was very knowledgeable in the removal process as he advised me that does these kinds of surgeries all the time, which he indeed does. Now I had my removal surgery January 27, 2017, he removed quite a of bit tissue from me during this surgery due to the biopolymers compacting in one area. After removal, I was ok, very small, but still in good spirits. I had no issues during my open surgery for removal with Paz and was sent home after 21 days in Cali back to Miami to get better and come back in 6 months for my reconstruction. Fast forward 7 months after my removal (August/2018) I return to Cali for my reconstruction with Dr. Andres Díaz Paz. I was very optimistic about my reconstruction. My reconstruction consisted of me getting a butt implant placed intramuscular and fat transfer around it, due to me not having enough fat for just a fat transfer. I also wanted to do breast augmentation which Dr. Díaz advised he could do in the same surgery. So it was agreed upon and we proceeded to move forward with surgery on my surgery day. My reconstructive surgery went well, no complications when I woke up from surgery and my buttock was back to its normal shape. I had the butterfly style incision that was very thin and I was happy at that point. I got massages and did everything I was suppose to post op and was eventually discharged by Dr. Díaz to fly back home to Florida. I spent 2 weeks and a half in Cali after my reconstruction, and flew back home. After being home for about a week, I came down with a fever of .104, and my incision on my right side was leaking a fluid. I went to ER immediately and was told that I had an infection. The right side had so much tissue taken out it basically started to sink in. They had to open the right side of my buttock up and clean out the infection. When it was all said and done I was let with a 6"inch long -3" inch wide hole on the rig side of my buttock. I spent over a year packing and nursing that tissue back to life. After a year of packing the tissue has grown back substantially, but I am still left with a very noticeable indentation in that area of my butt. After that infection, I went back to Dr. Díaz Paz to repair the damage from the infection, the large hole. I only had a fat transfer done. But for some reason he was unable to get the fat to that area to stay in that area. He said it kept moving, so he was unable to fix the indentation on my right side. I went home, still with one side of my buttock sort of sunken in. I have been not had any surgery or been back to Paz since the last reconstruction. Now almost 4 years since my last reconstruction, I am experiencing a lot of discomfort to my thighs and hip area , which I believe is a small amount of biopolymers Dr. Díaz was unable to remove during my first removal. I also feel a lot of pain to my buttock due to scar tissue underneath the skin. I saw my PCP today who ordered about 4 different MRI scans and I will be sending those MRI cd's to Dr. Kenneth Hughes. I will be paying for a consultation with him to see how he can rid me of the remaining biopolymers in my thighs and hip, and also to do something about the pain from the scar tissue. I would like to get back to some type of normalcy. I won't be going back Colombia for anymore surgery. I have had 4 surgeries and still not really happy with my end/final results. Dr. Díaz Paz is a wonderful doctor with great best side manners, but I don't think he can help me any further. I need a reconstructive surgeon who is detailed and precise. I will be recording my journey for anyone who wants to follow. I know there are many out there suffering and I feel your pain. Pray and keep your faith that you will get you health back. The constant itching, burning, hard lumps and health problems will all be a memory. I am still very optimistic. I'm Glad I have a new PCP who is doing test, ordering labs and assisting me to finding the best surgeon to help me with this ONCE AND FOR ALL. Updated on 1 Mar 2022: So after finding Dr. Timothy Katzen on this site, I reached out and had a consultation with him, in hopes of staying here in the US for surgery and getting the remainder of this product out of my thighs. Although, I loved loved loved Dr. Katzen and would’ve loved to have done my procedure with him, he is just way over my budget. And not to say my health isn’t important but I must do what I can within my means. This is why for me having surgery here in the US is just too expensive imo. Dr. Katzen’s work is amazing and he was a pleasure and very knowledgeable, but so is Dr. Diaz Paz. I messaged him all my concerns and hopefully he lets me knows what’s the best way to proceed forward. Wish me luck ladies
I arrived to Cali Colombia on September 3, 2018 to have (Biopolimeros Removal) with Doctor Diaz. I’ve been following & doing my research on this awesome doctor and other surgeons that specialize in the biopolimeros field since 2017. After doing my research I Suggested DR. Diaz or DR. Daniel Slobodianik would be the one to do my biopolimeros removal because right after doctor Gallerani performed my injection removal back 2013 which he charged me ($15000.00) by liposuctioning the material out of my body which was the incorrect way of removing these hard plaques out of my buttocks and made it even worst. I’ll explain why: liposuctioning biopolimeros when you have hard plaques makes it worst because your fat that is being removed goes to waste and the hard plaques comes to surface right under your skin which can cause it to be very difficult to save the skin when you find a well experience surgeon to remove the hard substance, once the blood stop flowing the skin becomes dead. Right after the gallerani removal because I was left deformed I took the easy way out and went to Dominican Republic 2015 to get a ( TUMMY TUCK & BBL) to fix how dr. Gallerani left my buttocks. Worst thing I ever done because new fat and hard plaques don’t mix. Although on the outside it looks nice and all eyes was on my banging body because of doctor Cabral work which he will have you walking around looking like a Barbie doll but the Hard plaques stayed in and got worst because after a certain amount of years it don’t matter what you do, your body will start rejecting the biopolimeros & that’s exactly what happened to me. It is now 2018 the biopolimeros material wants out. I booked my ticket the beginning of 2018 for September 3, 2018 purchased my ticket for $ 314.00 TO CALI COLUMBIA WITH ( DR. ANDRES DIAZ). He quoted me as $6900 for Biopolimeros Removal( Open Procedure) which is cutting me across my buttocks like a V cut from side to side to go into my buttocks the correct way in order to remove the hard material which is not bad because if a bbl is needed later on I can always get a nice tattoo over it which will work out just fine for me, ( I can only speak for myself). I flew in on Monday September 3, 2018 got MRI & EKG done & on Tuesday did my labs which was $100.00 including my EKG & went to have a face to face consultation with the doctor Diaz. He explained everything thoroughly, showed me all the before and after pics of cases similar to mine & cases worst then my case. I then paid him $6900 for my surgery & $240 for my MRI.
I had silicone injections for 11 years. The last 4 years my body has rejected the silicone being in my body. I received silicone shots to the hips & buttocks in 2010 & again in 2012. I loved how I could get instant results, for a cheap price. Everything was fine, until February of 2016. That’s when I had my first bout with cellulitis of the left hip. I was hospitalized twice & on antibiotics countless times because of the injections. I started researching removal, & even went on a few consultations. I was so depressed & helpless. Everywhere I went, the pictures I was shown of patients after, made me so afraid. During my research, I stumbled across someone who has went to Dr. Diaz & had favorable results. I immediately WhatsApp’d him. We started chatting in Spring of 2017 & he advised me I would need to have the “open technique” surgery, which is where an incision is made across your upper buttocks to be able to remove the substance. I really didn’t care, because after seeing his incision, they are so thin & neat, they could easily be hidden. I was supposed to have surgery September of 2017, but due to some other health issues, I had to reschedule for February 14th 2018. He was very understanding & told me there was no problem with rescheduling, because my health was the top priority. I arrived in Cali, Colombia on 2/12/18. I stayed at Vital Care Recovery House (which is great btw). I was taken to have an MRI of the affected areas so that Dr. Diaz could review them the following day. On 2/13/18, I met with Dr. Diaz for my consultation along with my MRI results. He greeted me with a hug & a kiss. Honestly, I felt like I was conversing with a friend, not my Dr. he was very amicable & humble. Upon reviewing my MRI results, he advised me that I had some migration to my lower back, I also had some on the lower part of my butt & my hips. He said my case was very moderate & that I did not need the open technique. He explained to me that he would be able to remove the biopolymers endoscopically & with a special cannula. He also advised me that it was also possible to have a fat transfer as well. I was beyond happy! So, he discussed with me that he’d remove fat from my underarms, arms, abdomen, back & inner thighs & reconstruct my hips & buttocks. He also said he’d fix my “dog ear” from a previous tummy tuck I had. This was more than I had bargained for. I already had in my mind that I’d have the “open technique” & would have to return for reconstruction in several months. Although, the price went up by a few thousand dollars more, it was well worth it. I would’ve spent way more having to go back for reconstruction if I think of airline tickets, Recovery House etc. 2/14/18 was my surgery day. Surgery was scheduled for 12:30pm, it took 3 1/2 hours to complete. I was back at the Recovery House about an hour after. I felt fine right after & til this day, I’ve had a great recovery. The hip where I had the recurrent cellulitis is slowly softening up & getting back to normal. At my follow up appointment, Dr. Diaz advised me that he was able to remove 80% of the silicone & that I will not have any more issues. It is still only a few weeks since my surgery, but I have not had a flare up & I no longer feel tired all the time. I’m very happy with my results & couldn’t have picked a better Dr.
Hello, thank you for the question and the photos. What i see on your case is a severe asymmetry where you need to have a breast augmentation on your small breast and a lift on the other one. I would do the lift with implant first and after seeing how it result and the volume it gets i will plan to do the breast augmentation in the other one.
The healing process can take several days, and it doesn´t mean that both hve to heal equal, the body has its own process, and you can have a little hematoma that doesnt permit to heal correctly, i reccomend to follow the instructions of your surgeon and keep him informed of all this.
