I can not say enough about this man and his entire team. I chose him based on reviews from other patients and the high degree of safety he he insists on. May 2, 2025 had a 360 tummy tuck, arm lift, very small BBL (at my request) and a torsoplasty. The experience was amazing. Once I was on board, they needed to know my arrival date and when I was going home, and my preference for a hotel or a recovery house. They took care of everything else. I flew into San Diego one day before I needed to because I did not want to take a chance with delayed flights. The day before my surgery they picked me up int he morning and dropped me off to go get labs, after labs they picked up back up and drove us to meet Dr Rios and Dr, Gonzalez. I first met with Dr. Rios, we went over my goals again, he explained everything he would be doing and what I could expect after surgery. He did my markings for the next day. I do have to say he is so kind and personable and makes you feel comfortable right away. I then when and talked to Dr. Gonzalez who is the anesthesiologist, he asks a lot of questions to see how you handle pain so he can best help you going into the surgery. Explains your options and tells you what he thinks would work for you. I have had no issues in the past with anything and so he did two types of anesthesia. He showed me there are multiple areas of the body that he can do a block with a sedative, and also general anesthesia. He felt in my case he would use both do the duration of my surgery and recovery afterward. I do have to tell you if he does the block, you are not awake like you would be for a C section. You are out completely. It helps you recover quicker in the following days to not be under general so long. He also talked about that he like to control the pain rather than react to the pain. After that, I went back to talk to Dr. Rios about any more questions. I did not have any. Me and my person that came with me were blown away with the process and left that office with zero reservations. I was so excited and not even nervous. The next morning I still was not nervous, they had set my mind at ease. He does surgery at a hospital rather than a surgical center. When I arrived at the hospital, they were great, got me ready and I headed into the operating room with still no nerves. When they wheeled me in, I was talking with OR staff, they had some music playing, asked me what I wanted to hear. I told them some AC/DC to get me pumped up. The last thing I remember is them paying Thunderstruck! I don't remember much about my hospital stay, they kept me so comfortable. The next day I got moved to the recovery house. I can honestly say I was NEVER in pain. I couldn't move quickly but that is more because they have to stich you tight to you don't have loose skin later. This is what it supposed to happen. My skin is starting to relax a teeny bit, I am sure it will be a couple weeks before I can stand straight. I stayed at Excellence Recovery, they do everything for you do you don't have to lift a finger. My friend that came with me was spoiled as much as I was. The nursing staff is great, the food was great, and our laundry was also done by the house. I would highly recommend. Dr. Rios office sets you up to look great, feel great, and have the best experience possible. I would 100% recommend him. Mexico does do things a little differently than in the US, Most do not take CC. Dr. Rios money process was $500 down to schedule. 4-6 weeks before the surgery date wire transfer of $10,000 and you pay the rest in cash when you get there. It seems a little different than what we are used to. I know when I paid my cash payment upon arriving, the office person gave doctor G a pile of cash. Maybe he wants the cash so he doesn't have to claim the taxes on Dr. G's services. I am not sure but don't let the different process scare you. I also just want to say the nurses send pictures everyday to doctor Rios so he can see your progress, I assume if he had concerns he would see you again. I didn't need to see him until the day before I can home because I was doing great and continue to do great. My friend was so impressed, she got a consult herself.
I had my procedure in July 2024, 360 TT, bbl, extended breast lift w/ fat transfer. My experience was great from start to finish I received the best care from Dr. Rios and his team. Get those curves! Stay at Excellence. Work with Dr. Rios and his crew. You won’t regret it. I went from loose skin after a 100 pound weight loss to tight and curvy everywhere. (Bbl, lipo, 360 LBL tummy tuck, muscle repair)
After losing 175 pounds, I felt like I had accomplished something incredible, but I was left with tons of loose skin. I found a local surgeon here in Canada to perform a tummy tuck and the results were botched. This just made me feel worse about my body than the loose skin I had. I decided to look outside of the country for a surgeon who could help and specialized in massive weight loss patients—and I’m so thankful I found Dr. Andrei Rios. Dr. Rios truly changed my life. Not only does he do wonderful, meticulous work, but his bedside manner is exceptional. From the moment I met him, I knew I was in good hands. He listened carefully to my concerns, took time to explain every detail, and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire process. The work Dr. Rios did to correct the botched surgery from my previous procedure was nothing short of amazing. The results are beyond what I ever imagined, and I finally feel like my body reflects the hard work I’ve put in over the years. His team is just as top-notch, providing excellent care and support from start to finish. They made me feel like I was their priority, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I was so pleased with the outcome that I’m already planning to return for round two later this year. If you’re looking for a plastic surgeon who delivers outstanding results with compassion and care, Dr. Andrei Rios and his team are the absolute best.
Dr Rios is amazing. Never in a million years did I think I could look this great. He pays attention to his patients a professional the entire way. I highly recommend I am so looking forward to round two!
I cannot recommend my plastic surgeon and their team enough. When other US doctors told me my situation couldn’t be fixed, this incredible doctor went above and beyond to restore my body and my confidence. I trusted him and his team completely, and the entire experience was top-notch from start to finish. The staff’s professionalism and care made me feel so safe that I was comfortable crossing the border alone for my follow up. They ensure you are completely taken care of from the border throughout the entire stay till you are safely returned to the border. Additionally, the entire team spoke fluent English, ensuring clear communication and making the process smooth and stress-free. I am truly grateful for their expertise, compassion, and dedication to delivering exceptional results.
This surgeon is an absolute Jewel!! He has excellent bedside manner and his skill is beyond belief!! I’d lost 147lbs and my body was a mess. With just a few procedures I have my confidence back! I’m a Nurse Practitioner in the USA and the experience was much better than here in the states. GO now you’ll love yourself forever
I had an amazing experience with Dr. Rios and his team! From the very beginning, the coordinator Haley responded in a timely manner and answered all of my questions, even though I had quite a few. Even with delays in my flight, they were accommodating from start to finish. Dr. Rios and Dr. Gonzales, we're very informative during my pre.Opt appointment. I have never had a doctor in the u. S explain in such detail not only what they were doing, but the why behind it. I never felt nervous or uncomfortable while talking to them. The day of surgery, Dr. Rios and Dr. Gonzalez came in first thing to say, good morning and explain the procedure and how the day was going to go. After surgery and time in the recovery room, I was taken back to my husband and carefully put into bed. I slept well and did not wake up until the next morning. When the nursing team was there to assist me with my first shower. After that was all taken care of I was transported to the hotel recovery floor. The care staff there, along with the hotel staff, was great. I was checked on daily by doctor Rios team and put at ease for any questions.I may have had. After my time in Mexico I went home and connecting with Haley and Dr. Rios was very easy. They stayed in contact and gave me great tips for a smooth recovery. I would one hundred percent recommend this team and look forward to going back for a second visit!
Hello Celebrated648270, there's never been an association between this kind of surgery and cancer. However, the areas that are worked on can have many different things happen to them (abdominal wall, intraabdominal contents) which can appear on their own before, during or after surgery. If you experience any symptoms after your surgery, get an assessment because while this surgery shouldn't affect your chances of developing cancer, it doesn't remove the chances of having something else happen at the same time as healing from it.
Hello and congratulations on dropping those 130 lbs! While you're definitely noticing changes related to massive weight loss, I'd recommend waiting more time and allowing your body to lose more weight. When a surgery is attempted with patients who are above a certain BMI (which is not the best way to assess a patient, but it's a standard that is usually used), there's higher risk of complications around your surgical process. There's also a chance for you to continue losing weight, and if the skin was tightened as much as possible, it will become loose again. I'd recommend continuing to monitor your weight loss journey and waiting until you're around a 30 BMI before attempting skin removal surgery. Your body will change and that will make the decision whether to do an extended, circular or fleur de lis abdominoplasty more accurate in your case. Have a great day!
I've had a lot of experience with massive weight loss patients over the years, and while I believe an extended TT may give you a great improvement, it will definitely not correct the excess skin in your upper abdomen. I'd normally recommend AT LEAST a circular TT for a case such as yours, and even then, I'd tell you that most likely, if you want the skin in the upper abdomen to be corrected completely, we'd need to see how you heal, but we may end up needing to do a vertical incision at some point. Most patients have great results without the vertical, but if you want it to be fixed AS MUCH as possible, you need to have some amount of skin remove in the central abdominal area.
Hello laurat06, it's been very long since your tummy tuck procedure, and time can definitely affect the results of any surgery. Whenever after a surgery patients regain abdominal roundness, we need to consider many things: Weight gain, intraabdominal volume changes, pregnancies, etc. If the abdominal wall is stretched by anything (also the surgeries you've had), it can lose that flatness it had from your surgery. An in person assessment, or also a study like a CT scan can shed some light as to what is actually going on in your case. Having said that, 13 year is a very long time to expect the results to stay the same, since on your normal daily life there can be many changes, especially weight fluctuations.
It's hard to assess you only through photos. Also to do that without pre op photos from before your surgeries. When there are asymmetries, it could be that they were present before surgery, asymmetries in your body (one side of the rib cage sticks out more than the other), fat pockets that were left in place, or even fluid build up. It's impossible to know without an assessment, but your doctor may know better since they did your surgery. Other imaging studies may help (especially a CT scan) to know what is actually in that area (hernia, fluid, fat, bone).
