I had my TT on May 3rd and I still have one of my drains in. I got the other one pulled at one week post op. It is so frustrating that I am still draining anywhere from 40-60cc's a day. Any idea on why this is still going on and how I could get it to slow down or stop???? Please help me! Any information or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
I had an upper body lift with Dr. Sholar in Evansville Indiana. This included a breast lift, brachioplasty (arm lift), and bra line back lift. Not one of my procedures turned out well. My breasts were droopy and my nipples pointed down. My arms became infected and I was left with awful scars. My bra line back lift had necrosis and left a large crater in my back. She never scheduled a follow up appointment after having laser treatments that were supposed to help the scaring, but made the scars even wider. My recovery was awful. I was almost 8 months out before all my incisions were closed. When I called to let them know I was unhappy, she would not see me or return my calls, and she was not willing to give me any of my money back. After I threatened to hire an attorney, Dr. Sholar had an office worker call and offer to redo the surgery. I had no faith in her ability to do any better than the first go around so I did not even consider that as an option. I had revisions done by another surgeon and my experience was totally different. Recovery was a breeze and I had no issues with healing or scarring. I am not the only one who has had issues with Dr. Sholar and I would suggest visiting the Indiana Department of Insurance website to check for malpractice claims before seeing Dr. Sholar. It was an awful experience and I am still physically and emotionally hurt by her actions. During my revision surgery with another doctor he was able to give me a beautiful breast lift and repair my back scar, but he was not able to remove all of the scarring on my arms and I will live with them forever. I have not proceeded with a lawsuit at this time, but because I was not able to recoup any of my fee from her and I am still dealing with physical and emotional issues that I cannot afford to continue to manage, I am looking at moving forward with some sort of legal action. We all make mistakes and I understand that Dr. Sholar is human. In my opinion, the right thing to do would be to admit the mistake and do what you can to make it right with the patient. She had the opportunity to make this right with me by refunding a small portion of what I paid her and she was unwilling to do so. I ended up paying another $10,000, out of my pocket, to have all the surgeries over again with a competent doctor.
I had 1 syringe of juvederm put in my vermilion border of my lips. I had none actually put in the lip.I am extremely pleased with my results and it's only been a day. I know that they're still a little swollen. There's also some bruising.I made sure not to take any aspirin or ibuprofen for 2 weeks before my procedure. I also used Arnica cream (bought at GNC) all around my mouth for a few days before and have been putting it on since the injections. I have minor bruising compared to some of the other pictures on this site.I had a dental block, so I had ZERO pain. I also iced frequently the entire day after I had it done.I had prevelle silk done in my lips 6 weeks ago and loved the way it looked too. But, it was gone in 4 weeks. I am hoping the juvederm lasts longer!
After my divorce I decided to take care of saggy, uneven breasts.During the consult, I had the surgeon look at my abdomen. I had alot of sagging skin and wrinkly stretch marks around my belly button, mainly due to marital separation/divorce stress. The surgeon sugg a tummy tuck. That seemed a bit radical. I've seen plastic surgery shows where they do a seemingly simple procedure of making a circular incision around the belly button and pulling the skin in and making esentially a new belly button and voila! I tight tummy!I was told it wasnt just a skin issue. I needed skin removal and the "re-corseting" of my ab muscles. That procedure seemed scary to be! I gave it some thought though. I just knew that after surgery and having these amazing, perky, c-cup breasts, i would be even MORE unhappy with my stomach. You know when you your walls painted and then how much worse your carpet looks? Then I would have to have a second surgery and recovery. So I decided to just "Go For It." One sugery, one anesth.. I had an amazing result! No major pain or complications. The worst part was having the 2 tummy drains pulled out. Hurt like hell!! My breasts scars are almost gone. I had implants and a lift on one side. I'm 4 months post surg. My abd scar, which goes hip to hip and just extended where my c-section scar was. The scar looks pretty good too. No raised areas, various purple to pink coloring on it. I have never felt so good about my body! I'm 44 and have a better body than I've ever had. I would recommend this for anyone! Life is too short to not feel fantastic about ALL of you!
Hi Kim. What you are experiencing is not altogether uncommon. First, your preoperative photos would be of great benefit to assess the preoperative normal anatomic asymmetry that everyone has present. The crease height is often different, as well as the width of the chest, side-to-side. These asymmetries can sometimes be camouflaged to look better after surgery, but often are either unchanged or may even be more pronounced with breast augmentation. Further, at just 4 weeks postop, I would expect them to still be quite different. The two breasts heal at different rates, with one usually feeling and looking better more than a week faster than the other side. I tend to tell my patients that it will be 6-8 weeks before they really settle down. And to really put things into perspective regarding healing, that it takes about a year actually for the scars inside and out to become mature. So, hang in there for a while longer. If by 2 months or so, you are still concerned, return to your plastic surgeon so they can reevaluate you at that point, and compare the appearance to preoperative photos. Hope this helps calm your nerves!
All these labels can be quite confusing. Most importantly, when deciding which plastic surgeon to choose, a plastic surgeon's board certification is the single most important requirement. There are many false "board certifications", that non-plastic surgeons use to lure people into believing they are real plastic surgeons. The ONLY board certification for plastic surgeons is the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). This means that the surgeon has satisfied all written and oral examinations after completing a full training program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The other groups you mentioned are all societies that a plastic surgeon may choose to join to allow them to keep up with the latest in advances in the field, and they are simply a personal choice. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery are both groups that require ABPS certification, as well as additional requirements of plastic surgeons before they are allowed to join. As long as all three are ABPS-certified, then they have met these high requirements you should seek. Once you have found an ABPS-certified plastic surgeon, otherwise I would suggest that you consult with several surgeons so you can see who you simply feel the most comfortable with, then go with your gut. Hope this helps!
I know you are very worried at this point, but things do really change quite a lot in the next several months. It's absolutely normal to have doubts and questions in the early postop period after breast augmentation because everything can look a bit odd for a while. At first, the muscles try to contract back to the chest wall and smash the implants too high, giving an unnatural appearance. However, you will see that the as the skin and muscles relax, your look will change for the better and more natural usually. Be patient, follow up with your plastic surgeon so your fears can be alleviated, and let your body heal. The HP implants are often used when a woman has a narrower chest wall (so the implant doesn't hang too far over the sides)and needs a little lift that can be gained from the increased projection. Most likely, you will end up loving your results, but it does take time. Thanks so much for this excellent question!
An abdominoplasty is expected to remove a great degree of skin excess and any overhang that is present. However, it does not change the character of the skin to make it more elastic. Although any stretch marks present on the lower abdomen within the area of skin excision will be removed, those remaining will still be loose and have a poorer texture than the rest of the skin. When abdominal muscle imbrication (corsetting together) is done, it will nip in your waist some and improve your abdominal girth, however this is limited by the intra-abdominal volume of your bowels and fat apron INSIDE the abdomen. This is why many surgeons will recommend that one should get as close to their ideal body weight as possible in order to acheive the most optimal results. I usually recommend flank liposuction as well to contour the sides and "muffin-top" area so it blends in with the tummy tuck area. Thanks for your question! Good luck!
