I am a 30yr old woman who has had 5 children and 5 csections, so with that losing the extra skin when losing weight is the most difficult feat.... after losing the amount of weight I want to lose I went to dr ravin to discuss my options, this was the best thing I ever could have done... my goal wasn’t to look like a model but yet feel comfortable enough to just put on nice looking clothes and feel confident... Dr. Ravin gave my my options and we took off from there his office also file my insurance to see if it would be excepted for part of my procedure... I was left with no blind spots because they were nice and VERY DETAILED... They also made me feel comfortable and let me know I was not alone in my journey.... I got my surgery May 3 2021 when I say it hasn’t even been a whole week and even with my swelling every thing looks good I’m thankful and happy And to be able to do this not even 30mins from home and in an actual hospital setting was icing on the cake
I am a 55-year-old woman who had a lumpectomy last year which was March 28, 2017.I just had a breast lift and reduction on April 5, 2018. I had no pain for the first three days… except a weird pain on my thigh and my stomach… I found out that it had to do with when you're in the operating room they strap you down… And your ribs are sore because they sit you up quite a bit to make sure that your breasts look good … So don't let that bother you… I found out in order to get rid of the pain to take Tylenol Advil and put a heating pad on and it will stop within the next couple of days I didn't have any bruising and only minimal swelling. I did have quite a lot of stitches… It has been one week now and I have had quite a lot of tiredness and nauseous… Which I think is because by looking at the breast and realizing it's quite a lot of stitches… I am starting to swell a bit but I continue to put ice on three breast. The doctor said that I look great… I do suggest that people take it easy. I thought that after a week I would be full of energy… But I keep forgetting that I've had major surgery and stitches… .i have to say my overall experience with Dr. Ravin has been wonderful and his staff have been wonderful, I can't wait to have my tummy tuck with him next year .
after losing 132 pounds it was time for me to have all this skin removed. Finally the time has come. I chose Dr. Ravin at Northeast reconstructive and plastic surgery in Concord NC. My first appointment with the doctor was straight to the point. He came in super excited. His whole staff was super excited. Dr Ravin explained what he though I should have done versus whatI wanted done. He was very honest. He answered all my questions. I made my surgery date, My surgery seemed like it lasted a few minutes. Immediately I was satisfied with my results,. My tummy was super flat. No bruising, most of my stretch marks were gone. I had absolutely no pain. Right now Im 8 days out and still no pain. Updated on 12 Apr 2018: So I’m super swollen, for some reason I was vomiting the last couple of days. The nurse said I was not getting enough fluids. My pain level is minimal still, just a lot of tightness Updated on 12 Apr 2018: For some reason I can’t go back and add my before pics, so here are a few plus a pic the day after surgery Updated on 13 Apr 2018: So Dr Ravin took one drain out, left one on. He took me off pain meds completely. He said he didn’t know why I swelled up so bad yesterday. So I go back on Wednesday to have the other drain removed and the rest of my stitches removed. I’m so ready for a shower.
Beautiful work
As long as I can remember I've been big breasted. It started in 3rd grade and I was the first girl in my grade to start wearing a bra. They've continued to grow since. They've never been perky - ever! Probably because I started so young. I managed to be a C until I hit my 20's and then after having 3 children and breast feeding each of them - my breasts were out of control. I was HUGE when nursing and they never really shrunk after I was done with nursing like other women experience. I lost weight and did lose some in my breasts but the sag was atrocious and I became really lopsided with my right being a whole size bigger. Finding a bra that was comfortable was impossible. I've always had neck/back pain as long as I can remember but in the Fall of 2012 I finally decided to see a chiropractor about it and I received some news regarding my spine and neck curvature that were not so great. The weight of the "girls" pulled my chest forward and sent me off on muscle imbalance and my neck was now reversing in the opposite direction (not noticeable but in an x ray you can see it - osteoporosis has set in in a few places from the friction/rubbing which was only going to get worse). I had always talked about wanting to do a reduction and after the treatment and xrays I saw from chiropractor, I decided the time was now as it would only get worse. I had a consult in mid-January and was shocked - absolutely shocked that my insurance came back 4-5 weeks later approving the surgery. I thought for sure I might have to fight it out and reapply but alas it was coming true. So here I am - 10 days away from the surgery and I am so excited. I am currently wearing a 36DDD but my right is oozing out (since it's bigger). The goal is to get me down to a C which would take me back to where I used to be long ago. Despite my chest size, I got into running a few years ago but had to strap the chest in really really tight (wore the bras they use on Biggest Loser - very expensive!!). Needless to say, I'm hoping after my surgery that I can shave off 4 minutes of my time in the Half Marathon and break 2 hours!! This surgery is going to change so much for me. Exercise. Clothing. Bathing suits. Reduce back/neck pain. Can't wait! Updated on 23 Mar 2013: I found out yesterday that I report to the hospital at 9:15 am for a 11:30 surgery - ick. Going to be pretty hungry by then and it means I won't be home until dinner time. I'm getting kind of nervous thinking about it now since it is right around the corner. I know I'll do fine and everyone says they worried for nothing so I will try not to. Updated on 25 Mar 2013: I've been home just over 8 hours now. I can't believe how small they are. I also can't believe how we'll I'm feeling. I don't feel like I have to be a chicken with arms pinned at my side. I can brush my teeth easily even (wasnt sure what to expect as far as that goes). My body tends to recover quickly and I'm not noticing any huge amounts of swelling...at least not yet. Even with bandages on and bra stuffed with padding - they look small. My husband said out loud what I was thinking in my head - I wonder if he went smaller than intended? We'll see later I guess. My husband was also told by the PS that the surgery took a bit longer as he had more difficulty than normal making them symmetrical (right was originally a size bigger) so he took his time. That's good to hear I guess. Also found out that during the surgery they operate laying down but constantly move the bed to a slight sitting position to make sure everything looks good with gravity etc. scoping out their work. That put me at ease too as I wasn't sure of the entire process in how they made them look perfect. I'm staying on pain meds for 24 hours and then weaning off. This really isn't so bad. Also drank Smooth Move tea tonight and will take Castor Oil tomorrow to help move things along in the Bowen region as I'm dreading the constipation everyone else mentions. Only ate dinner around 7:45 last night so it's not like I have lots of food to digest yet. Going back to sleep now. Updated on 27 Mar 2013: Wow! I can't believe how great the girls look! My right side was a size larger and it looks like it is a little bit bigger than the left but with all the swelling and settling and fluffing that has to take place - I'm sure it will even out. I cannot believe how GREAT I feel. I had no nausea after surgery (nurse put a patch behind my ear when I was brought in and I think that truely helped. The patch works for up to 72 hours and I still have it on). The other area I was nervous about was constipation and I'm so pleased to say that I did not experience that. I drank Smooth Move tea the night of surgery and the next morning I took 1 tsp of Castor Oil and then drank some more Smooth Move tea. That night I had a small bowel movement and the next morning, the rest of it all came out. Never thought I would be so over joyed in that area. Went to PS today and had my bandages changed. There were bandages with sticky edges (which were getting so itchy) and felt good to have them pulled off. On top of those, I had a thick pad on each breast under the bra. Now I only have the thick pads under the bra. I like how they keep my nipple protected but boy are they sensitive. At least I know there's feeling there though :-) Can't believe how good I feel!! Totally worth it!!
Hello Ladies, I have been cruising this site for a few weeks now and it has been so helpful and inspirational. I have had large breast forever. I don't remember them to ever be perky because they have always been very weighty. I am 47 for a few more weeks and am having BR in 6 days:) I have such a mix of emotions right now. I am 5'3 an 152. My frame is small and these boobs are killing my back and neck. Enough is enough. I am so tired of trying to find bras that fit. the right one will fit in a ddd but the left one is like h so I have to tuck it and fold it to fit in the cup. I have been wearing 2 bras for years. Beside that It is a challenge finding clothes especially dresses. Recently I lost alot of weight and the nipples point straight down to my shoues..not a good look. I am so looking foward to it and am glad I found this site. My insurance approval came back in less than two weeks and I am feeling so blessed. Updated on 9 Feb 2013: Wow ... I cant believe I'm up at 6am on a Saturday ...3 more days til BR and I am nervous as hell.On my way to Walmart to do some last minute shopping. Cleaned out my closets and can't wait to start shopping for new clothes especially bras :) I have to check in at the hospital @ 7am on Monday and surgery is at 10am. I can't imagine my body without big boobies. I feel so blessed to be able to make such a change not only for my health but I've always been self conscious about my size because they don't fit my frame. Now all I have to do is get rid of the muffin top and I will be happy. :) Updated on 11 Feb 2013: Well the day is finally here.Getting ready to go to the hospital. I'm so nervous its crazy. I will post after pics as soon as I can. Good luck to all the ladies having there surgery today. Updated on 12 Feb 2013: Good Morning Ladies So yesterday was my surgery and I'm happy to have made it to the other side.I arrived at the hospital about 7 30 to prep and surgery was at 10. They worked on me for 3 hrs. The only thing that took me off guard was when the doc gave me a needle in the spine. no one had mentioned that to me prior. Anyway,When I came home I was so lightheaded and week. You Definitely need help the first few days. The block they gave me was still working because the only thing I could feel was burning. I would say about 8 pm it wore off and omg I could feel everything. It is very painful to touch and the range of motion in my arms are limited. I posted a few po pics and I go ps appt tomorrow so I will have more to share. Updated on 12 Feb 2013: Well just winding it down for the evening and thought I would drop a line or two. I think i did to much because I am so soar it is crazy.alot of women on here make it look so easy and pain free. Well I am here to tell you everyone is different and I am hurting. My post op is tomorrow hoping for some relief anyway Lata Updated on 14 Feb 2013: Day 4 and the bruising is getting worse. Went for po visit yesterday and nothing was suggested for scar cream. Did you ladies put anything on at this point or is it to soon? I was thinking vitamin e oil ??? Also did you wear sports bra 24/7 or did you let them have air once or twice a day? Updated on 14 Feb 2013: I am at the end of day 4 and it seems like the bruising is getting worse. Is that normal? does it mean i'm not resting enough? Updated on 19 Feb 2013: To all the ladies out there with upcoming BR surgery,I am here to tell you this is the best thing you can ever do for yourself.I feel like a different person. First off I felt immediate relief in my neck and back. I also feel so much more confident and sexy. I think big boobs make you look so much older and heavier than you are and it is so limiting as to what you can wear. It is such a great feeling. So if you are having doubts or feeling nervous it is normal but the feeling that you have when its all said and done makes it all worth it. I am 8 days in and I would say that what I feel at this point is discomfort. Pain only lasted about 3 days. I have had a lot of bruising not sure if its because I didn't have drains or if its normal. I am starting to get a little itchy ,nothing crazy and my nipples are always hard...ALWAYS. It has been cold the last few days and they are extremely sensitive. Although I am healing well ,I couldn't imagine returning to work this early. I know some ladies may not have a choice but if you do have available time to take off ..take it...Its not about pain its about being healed thoroughly .This is a major surgery and you go through to much to cut corners and risk having a set back. I go for my second post op visit today..Not sure if he is gonna take out the sutures today or not. I will keep you posted! Updated on 20 Feb 2013: I was wondering if when the swelling goes down could I be a whole cup size down? im fitting in a 36D and I am day 9 po...Could I be a 36C when its all said and done or will it not go down that much? Updated on 28 Feb 2013: My post op appt went well yesterday. My stitches were removed and the nurse put some type of glue on the incisions and said I was healing very well. I'm ready to start shopping for some real bras..getting tired of the sports bra...Wondering if I will ever be able to sleep on my stomach without pain. Sometimes when I sleep I end up on my stomach and the discomfort wakes me up. They are sore ALL dsy every day. Hopefully this will fade with time. Overall I am very happy and would do it all over again. Updated on 15 Mar 2013: Monday was my first day back ti work after suregery. I was able to take 4 weeks off which was a blessing. Surprisingly ,I am more sore and tender now than I was at 2wks po. They are so tender and sensitive to cold. I mean it feels like there are wholes in my chest and the cold air is blowing through at full speed,so uncomfortable. I am hoping this will pass soon. I mean I live in the south not alaska and i am freezing cold always. The nipples are always hard...always and shows through everything I wear and still can't sleep on my stomach. I am so glad i had it done I just wasnt expecting what I'm feeling. This has been a rough week. Everything I wear rubs against them ...not sure what to do. Well I'm taking some tylenol and hitting the bed. Bye for now Updated on 15 Mar 2013: Monday was my first day back to work after suregery. I was able to take 4 weeks off which was a blessing. That crazy sensitivity I was having is almost gone.I have noticed that they are not as perky as they were but I think they look very natural and I am satisfied. Once the swelling went away I still seem to be at the same size 36 D or 38 C. I have only bought one bra from vs. I am not impressed at all. Kohls and JCpenney work fine for me and are more in my budget. I am on a diet now trying to lose about 20 lbs by November. I am going on a cruise and would love to wear a nice Tankini minus the stomache and back fat. I am hoping my boobies don't become pancakes in the end but I'll keep you posted.. lol For all the ladies with upcoming surgeries..Good luck. It is one of the best things you could ever do for yourself. Even with the discomfort I had I would do it again in a heartbeat! Updated on 29 May 2013: I'm almost at the 4 month mark and the the girls are shrinking. Between losing a few pounds and the swelling going away they have changed alot. My advice to the newbies is to where a bra as much as possible because they do drop after swelling subsides. They are still perkier then I have ever been prior to BR but nowhere near what they were like after surgery. I was a 42D down to a 40C. I had extreme back pain while doing yard work, exercising at the gym and washing dishes. My breast sagged terribly and the sweat from the summer heat was awful. I took three years to research the procedure and decide on a doctor. I went in for surgery on May 7th. Was released around noon the same day. Had only been home three hours when I noticed extreme swelling in my left breast. Called the doctor who discovered I had developed a hematoma. Was back in surgery for the second time that same day. Stayed over night for observation. I have some swelling and bruising but the pain is minimal. Mostly stinging and itching. I would do it all over again, even with the complications. I feel better already. (only had to pay for two co-pays)
I had a large amount of skin left over from extreme weight loss. Pros - flat belly! Cons - PAIN/scar.
I have been large breasted my entire life and have wanted breast reduction surgery for at least the last 20 years! The last straw was when I went to my favorite bra shop, bought 2 32 JJ's and asked about a sports bra. They just looked at me and gently said "they don't come in your size". My older brother died last summer and I have really made a number of life style changes since then. I'll just leave it with it has been a very challenging year. Anyway, my surgery was approved by my insurance company in 4 days! I guess they haven't seen a pair this large in a long time Surgery is next Monday. I'm not nervous yet, but know I will be in the next couple of days.
