I traveled from VA to NC for Juvederm Voluma, as Dr. Buchanan is an expert with Voluma, and I am so glad I decided to make the trip. 1) because Highlands, NC is gorgeous and I plan on going back to further explore the area and 2) because Dr. Buchanan and staff were so lovely. Dr. Buchanan was very worried about swelling, which I assured him I swelled more after receiving Radiesse in the past. My results are great and I even drove around the Highlands taking pictures immediately after getting the filler, as you couldn't really tell I had anything done. I hope the results last long, but I would definitely not mind taking a trip back to see Dr. Buchanan and staff.
Dr. Buchanan has always been a knowledgeable and kind doctor who doesn't rush or push a patient through like a number. I had only had minor procedures and Botox (he's a master at Botox) done until recently when I went to seek his help involving what I thought was an irreversible botch of a co2 laser resurfacing around my eyes by a doctor in Atlanta. It had been nearly 5 months since the surgery, and my eyes were still red, bumpy, and not healing well. I really thought I was doomed to disfigurement for the rest of my life. Dr. Buchanan patiently sat with me for almost an hour and explained what he believed caused the delayed healing of my eyes. He reassured me that, with the proper topical treatments and lots of time, my eyes would eventually heal. I left his office feeling like a huge weight had been lifted, and the anxiety drained away.
Dr. Buchanan is an artist. He has excellent professional manners and is extremely trustworthy. Diana is first rate at running his beautiful office and Lynn gives the best facials bar-none. Treat yourself, you will be glad that you did!
Dr. Buchanan does an amazing job! He is extremely knowledgeable, and was so helpful answering all of my questions. He helped me on my first consultation visit so I didn’t have to come back. His botox work is amazing and would recommend him to anyone!
I have had Botox in the the past with other medical providers but Dr Buchanan took his time and the results were the very best I have ever had ! My face looks amazing and I am very pleased! I am planing to return to him every summer for my injections!
The Zerona treatment helped jumpstart my weight loss goals and even out some asymmetry of one hip's "saddlebag". I would totally trust Dr. Buchanan for any procedure he performs. He will refer you to other providers if necessary. His staff is personable and highly competent. I had a great experience.
Dr. Buchanan is an artist as well as a surgeon. I never thought I would pursue cosmetic surgery, but after a few visits for more simple procedures, he earned my complete trust. He takes time to explain all options and the pros and cons of each. He recently performed more serious surgery on me and I had a wonderful experience. Dr. B went above and beyond my expectations. Highly recommended.
I was 40 when I received my first Botox injections. Dr. Buchanan met and talked with me for quite a while making sure I was comfortable with every area of the procedure . I am now 53 and am still going to the very best . I have never had a droopy anything and he is very conscientious about any pain I may feel and tries to avoid it always. I truly beg you to research your choice of medical facility first and please choose a licensed Dr. with long time experience. He has also steered me is the right direction for my dark spots and aging sun damage and when a wrinkle or line just wont go away even with Botox , he has use one of his excellent fillers. I am so thankful for my Dr. and he'd better stay around a long time.
My first BA was 3years ago. 350 cc mentor mod + silicone. Went from a small B to DD (probably larger, but refused to try on anything bigger than that). I was instantly unhappy with the size. However, I was more uncomfortable with the asymmetry and the divergent nipple. To address the asymmetry Dr. B placed a 194cc implant in the left, larger side and 234 cc on the right. I hope that I went small enough. He lowered the inframammary fold on the right and placed internal sutures medially to attempt to move the right implant laterally to have a more equal spacing with the left and to address the divergent nipple. I have a good bit of pain on the right. I was warned that this would be the case (he did much more work on the right. More than I have listed), but all in all the pain is less that the first BA. I am so anxious. The right implant is much higher than the left (it is much worse than it was to begin with). From what I can see peeking under the Ace bandage, the internal sutures are causing the right breast to have a pinched shape. I am so nervous. I am getting married in 5 months. I just want to feel beautiful in my wedding dress. I hope to be pleasantly surprised tomorrow when I get to take off the wrap and shower tomorrow. Updated on 25 Mar 2016: What is wrong with my right boob. Please tell me that this is a temporary deformity. So sad/scared. Not sure why the pictures are being posted upside down. Will attempt to fix later. Updated on 26 Mar 2016: I don't even know what to say at this point. I am very depressed. Updated on 27 Mar 2016: Updated on 28 Mar 2016: Updated on 28 Mar 2016: I am doing my best to stay optimistic and there does seem to be improvement each day. I am disappointed with the lack of information from my doctor. There is no way that during surgery he looked at me, with the large dent across my right breast, and thought- ' this looks great, there is no need to warn her what so ever'. Instead, I unwrapped my breast and melted in a puddle of tears for the next hour. I feel I would have been in a better mindset with a little direction from the doc. My fiancee has tried his best to be supportive, telling me that I need to talk to him but all I could say is "it's really bad". He then goes off on how its just not right, you paid all this money, he was supposed to make it better not worse etc. And although I know he is trying to help, it doesn't. So, I have been keeping it to myself. I couldn't even bring myself to write updates on here. With the slight improvement that was welcomed today, I am feeling a bit better. In no way am I excited about the results, but at least I do not look as bizarre as I did. If my breast continue to look this way, no I will not be wearing a bathing suit EVER, but I wouldn't have put on a bathing suit prior to the revision either. So, here's to looking up and hoping that with each day, things will be a little bit better. Follow up appointment with Dr. Buchanan tomorrow. Updated on 29 Mar 2016: Feeling pretty good today. I continue to see slight improvements each day which is wonderful since I was initially devistated by the way I looked. I had my first follow up appointment this morning. I went in there thinking that I was going to give him some feedback. I didn't understand why he didn't warn me about the way my breasts looked- with the huge dent. He seemed surprised that the dent appeared (for lack of a better word). He said that the right breast was nicely rounded at the end of surgery. He thinks that as the swelling goes down I will continue to see improvement with my inner right breast. He also said that it looked like the previous surgeon had dissected far enough down to lower the right inframammory fold (to level with left) but scar tissue had formed moving it higher. He encouraged me to massage downward to try and keep this area open this time. And you better belief I will be massaging religiously. I am a little more sore today on the right side. I think I did a little too much yesterday so I am trying to take it easy on that side. Not easy with an active 2 year old, but I am trying to be more aware. I feel pretty good about my progress and am remaining optimistic. My next follow up appointment is in 4 weeks. Also, my ps gifted me microdermabrasion or European facial. This is wonderful with the wedding coming up. Anyone have an opinion on which I should choose? I have never done either. Updated on 30 Mar 2016: Updated on 31 Mar 2016: I am feeling great today. Physically, my right breast is a little tight and sore. Emotionally, I haven't felt this wonderful in a long time. After my first BA I was DD+. I was constantly self conscious and uncomfortable. I hated them but didn't talk about it bc I felt wrong for feeling that way (as crazy as that sounds). Then I felt selfish for paying to have a second operation, we have a little one to save for and our wedding coming up. My fiancée was nothing but supportive and I am so grateful for him! All he would say is that he wants me to be happy and feel good. And I do now. This was the best decision that I could have made for myself. I feel like me again. Yes, I still have implants but they FEEL like mine (the others never did). I know that this change in my personal happiness will essentially make my family happy. I feel like a huge weight has been removed from my chest (ha), I can breath again. So thankful!!!! Updated on 1 Apr 2016: I realize I am posting an obnoxious amount of photos. However, I really like the idea of being able to see my daily progress. All is well. I have a knot on the inner upper corner of my right breast. I am assuming it is where he placed some internal sutures to try and even the space between my left and right breast. Main does it hurt though. Doing some light massage and hoping it starts to go down. Plan to call dr. B Monday if there is no improvement.
I am very pleased with what Dr. Buchanan did to restore my vision. My vision was obliterated because of excess skin. I had another surgeon who had removed the cataract but the eyelid was not as it should have been. I had been to see him for injectables , as well as a cancerous melanoma which he removed. I trust him fully.
From the pictures you appear to be an excellent candidate for an upper blepharoplasty. You appear to have significant excess skin even with the eyes closed, a usual indicator of a reasonable outcome. Make sure you see someone who specializes in rejuvenation of this area and has extensive experience.
It is impossible to comment intelligently on what you have been told by whoever you spoke to except to say that reconstruction of the lower eyelid takes significant expertise in the surgery and, occasionally, the post operative care so you need to make sure that the surgeon will be available postoperatively. I prefer a Moh's surgeon to remove the lesion so it can be done with the smallest margin possible. You then need a plastic or ophthalmic plastic surgeon to reconstruct, though there are now a very few Moh's surgeons who are properly trained and technically good enough to reconstruct the area depending on the resulting defect and exactly where the lesion is on the lower eyelid. Make sure whoever you choose for the reconstruction has vast experience in reconstructing this area. If everything goes well you can expect a relatively rapid recovery with return to most normal activities within a week. The most common problems are dry eye and persistent swelling. Most good surgeons will use berried sutures that will last at least 6 months for most of the closure and skin sutures that should be left in no longer than 5-6 days. Bruising will last several weeks but can be covered with make-up and a good sunblock a few hours after the skin sutures are removed.
Medicine is a business. The product, especially for a consultation, is time and expertise. If you cancel the consultation close enough to the scheduled time that it is impossible to fill the slot, then you have actually used the consultation time, whether or not you actually did the consultation. Therefore you owe for what you used.
Although you can do a superficial “peel” using a CO2 Laser, the most common, especially for acne scars, is a leveling peel that takes off all the epidermis and about half the dermis. The superficial ones rarely do anything for acne scars whereas the leveling ones do an excellent job and it only has to be done once. Another option is a CO2 Laser that is modified to what is called Fraxal laser. This simply pokes holes in the shin. It, or its equivalent, micro needling, cause production of collagen that eventually corrects the problem. No matter what you do, the first thing you need to do is start tretinoin to begin stimulating collagen in the dermis. Make sure you see someone who not only understands the different treatment modalities but also skin rejuvenation in general.
Botox is just one modality in improving your appearance. It reduces the formation of wrinkles caused by muscle action. Once you have static wrinkles, all it does is help prevent others, but will do nothing for those already there. In addition to Botox, you need to be using tretinoin and Obagi’s ELASTIderm regularly with your skin care to stimulate collagen and elastic tissue. Once on these, you can add micro needling or Fraxal laser to further stimulate collagen . You can also inject the wrinkles with a filler to reduce them, as has been suggested, but should only do these last options if you are on the tretinoin and ELASTIderm.
