Assessing Revision Rhinoplasty Cases

by

Although the majority of nose surgery candidates report satisfying results, rhinoplasty is a complex procedure after which some patients require a second operation.

Given the difficulty of revision rhinoplasty procedures, the prominence of results, and the inherent risk/reward aspect of plastic surgery procedures, I keep these four considerations in mind when assessing potential revision rhinoplasty cases.

1. Safety First

Corrective procedures can be both challenging and delicate, so it is critical to work with a surgeon who has specialized knowledge of revision rhinoplasty procedures.

2. Effective Techniques

Rhinoplasty is both art and science with a variety of technical approaches for surgeons to adopt and make their own. Based on years of successful revision rhinoplasty procedures, I am a firm believer that the most appropriate technique should be applied to each individual case.

3. Natural Results

It is important to keep natural results in mind when planning a revision rhinoplasty procedure. The extent of planned changes and chosen techniques can impact the end result, so I am careful to explain to patients how certain adjustments to their nose may impact the overall aesthetic nature of the face.

4. Less is More

Similar to the focus on natural results, less is more when it comes to revision rhinoplasty. Keep in mind that the procedure is complex and delicate, the results are prominently displayed on your face, and it will become increasingly difficult to achieve desired results after additional revision surgeries.

All the best,
