Anti-Aging: Small Things Can Result in Big Changes

Our facial appearance is the most valuable physical attribute we have. This has been true for centuries around the world, so it's no surprise that we want to keep our youthful looks for as long as possible. This focus on anti-aging is not vanity, but rather a matter of our individual self-confidence.

A procedure I perform is called the elevation of the malar fat pad. The name itself is ugly but the surgical result is astounding.

As one ages, this ball of fibrous fat located at the upper check descends to the lower face. In the 30s and 40s, it creates thick nasolabial folds. A bit later, jowling occurs or full-blown facial aging. Temporary camouflage with dermal fillers will work, but the malar fat pad is the very reason our midface falls.

The midface is defined as the area between the eyes and mouth. It's the most critical area to correct if youthful appearance is to return.

Remarkably, dissecting, isolating, elevating, and fixating the pad to where it was at age 18 is very easy. Your return on investment is unbelievable. The incisions are short, dissection is limited, and operative time is only one hour.

This is the foundation before anything else is done to the face. I then perform a limited brow and eye lift in my office, along with skincare treatment.

Plastic surgery doesn't have to mean big procedures with a long recovery. Small things like the mylar fat pad and its migration is a minimally invasive surgery that can procedure big results.
