Just started tray 12....

So it's been a while since I last updated my review, so thought I would share a few points that have occured over the last 8 trays.
Generally speaking, the treatment has been going well and fairly easy going I would say. I have my trays out about 4 hrs a day (I take a longer break in the evening with dinner), so I always put on an extra couple of days per tray, just to make sure everything has done its job. At the end of the day, an extra month onto my plan is not too bad, and I want to make sure that the treatment does its job!
It's not been exactly plan sailing over the last few months, I had an especially difficult week when I was working at a conference. With all the talking during the day, I ended up with a very sore mouth and tongue, but no one noticed my trays...unless I say something, they really are invisable.
I also have been on holiday over the last month, and was on the go alot, so finding places to clean my teeth was difficult at times. I also suffered quite a few ulcers over the holiday, plus tongue sores, so it wasn't really the best set of trays for me, but it was over with in a couple of weeks and since then (touch wood) the trays have been good.
I've attached on this post a couple of pictures to show my process, I have to say I'm very happy to see the movement that has already occured. One of my front teeth is broken (the one that was the main overlapping culprit!), and so at the end of my plan, this tooth might not be 100% lined up, but my dentist has told me she has then space to play with and can build/fill this tooth to give the best straight finish - but we are still away off this...still 10 trays to go (without any refinements).
I haven't seen my family since I started this plan, and I will be visiting them in a couple of weeks...I will be interested to see if they notice a difference...I hope they do!!

Tray 3

So it's been now over 6 weeks (i'm keeping my trays in slightly longer than 2 weeks at the moment) since I started my Invisilign experience, and it feels like I've had then forever – not in the bad way, just more in the way that you become so quickly used to the daily pattern.
As everyone does, I've found a routine that works for me during the week…weekends is slightly different! But on week days, I get up, Clean teeth / floss / mouthwash and then pop my trays back in. I'm not a morning person, so I can't eat so early in the day, I save breakfast until about 9am, when I'm in the office. When it comes to breakfast, I make my cup of Tea, wait until its cool enough to drink, then take out my trays, eat brekkie, drink the tea, then go and do my cleaning ritual. It's the same with lunchtime. In the evenings, I generally eat at home, so when I have my dinner, I pop the trays in water to soak, with half a tablet of denture cleaner…another recommendation from the forum here and it seems to work well, so I leave them for about 1hr minimum…plus it gives me time to enjoy my dinner in the evenings. Once dinner is over with, I do the cleaning ritual again…and that’s my day.
At the weekends, I'm not so structured, dinners tend to be longer…especially those lasy, long Sunday lunches….but I don't stress….my dentist told me that if I have them out for a long period of time, just add another day onto the tray…easy really ?
The most difficult thing I have found so far is that when we were skiing, I had to stick to water, rather than my normal Glüwein. But I told myself that’s it's likely to be just for one season, so not too bad…and it will be worth it in the end.
There are some plus sides from having Invisilign – I've given up drinking Coke now, going from a 500ml bottle a day, to nothing….it was hard at the start, but now I'm not missing it at all, and my stomach is happier too ?
Like others on this forum, I have taken to just drinking clear/pale coloured drinks when I'm out and don't want to lose hours because I'm having a drink with friends….G&T, white wine and Prosecco are a stable drink in my life now, Red wine only when I'm eating and have taken the trays out. The only downside is that you have to stay away from the bar nibbles…but you get used to saying no!
One thing I really have to say about Invisilign it that they really are invisible…or almost. Apart from my work colleagues, and a few close friends, people have not noticed that I have them in. I went back to the UK recently for a few days, and I stopped myself from telling people that I had braces, and no one noticed them…even close friends. That was a big plus!
Downsides at the moment: I do have regularly a sore tongue…but I try and file the trays a little when its really bad…so nothing too big to moan about. I also am clenching my teeth at night – as common thing apparently, but my jaw aches in the morning!
All in all....going ok at the moment

As the title suggests, I've just started out with...

As the title suggests, I've just started out with Invisilign, and after reading many of your reviews on here, I thought I'd share my experience along the way to help others with this decision.
I started talking to my dentist at the end of 2014 about Invisilign, as like most people on here, i've not been happy with my teeth for a long time. I'm 33 yrs old and I work in events, so a normal train track brace was never an option for me, and I'd been told several times that Invisilign would not work for me…but something must had changed. No one's ever said i've bad teeth, but they overlap at the front and I have quite a pointy overbite so I wanted to do something about this and improve my smile.
I had my moulds taken in January, after making a new year's resolution to sort out my teeth. The moulds were not too bad...not as bad as they used to be (and I had to have my bottom teeth moulded 3 times so I can honestly say it's really not that bad!)
I went back about 2 weeks later to see the Dentist and discuss the plan, which would be 22 trays, so a treatment time of 1yr roughly (pending refinements)...she them made some adjustments to the plan, I said I wanted to go ahead with it, and here we are, 6 weeks on from that first appointment.
I had my first set of trays 'installed' last week and these first 2 trays will stay in for 2.5 weeks each. I had to undergo a lot of 'polishing' aka Filing between 8 of my teeth at the top, as my teeth are crowded. This filing didn't bother me when we discussed it in the planning meeting, but when sitting in the chair and listening to your perfectly good and strong teeth being filed, I had second thoughts! Too late though. I also had to have 12 buttons put on, but nothing on the very front teeth, so they are not too visible.
The first tray has obviously caused some pain, but it's daily improving. Popping a couple of Paracetamol takes away any pain quite quicking. I do have some cuts on the inside of my top lip, plus my tougue is sore in places, but I've been told this is normal and should improve in a couple of weeks. I'll keep you posted on this! In the meantime Bonjela is helping abit and I will pop to the chemist at lunchtime to see if there is anything else I can find
All in all so far, there have been some tears (when I saw my teeth post filing), there have been some tantrums (when I can't get the tray out!) and then there has been some reflection moments when I tell myself it will all be worth it. No Pain No Gain. As other's have said, it will also help with losing a few kilos, which is never a bad thing!
The toughest part i'm finding is sticking to water, I was a big fizzy pop drinker before and now this has all stopped, plus the post work drinks are having to take a backseat too, as I want my 2 hours for eating time, not drinking time!!
At the moment, I would say there are far more cons than pros to starting this treatment, but I hope as the process continues, my opinion will change…i'll keep you updated! ?

(By the way, i'm in Zurich, Switzerland, Not in the USA!)
