3 days post

So I am 3 days post op, and I feel better than I...

So I am 3 days post op, and I feel better than I did the last two days. I took off my binder yesterday and bandages, and I was pleased with my belly button. I did not look an the scar, but it is low and does not go all the way to my side, just the way I wanted it.

The first few days were tough, but it was more to get up and in bed or chair. Sleeping on my back was another pain point, could not get comfortable. I do walk upright for most of the day, but I also find that I am haunched over when I am getting out of bed for the first time. My appetite is good, but I warn you not to eat a full meal as yet. I did, and last night I had so much heartburn and indigestion. Just was not fun. So keep your meals light. Toast, crackers and yogurt... I try to stay on top of my meds , which helps, so I am never really in pain.

My following up appt is next Wednesday to take my drain out, only have one in, so looking forward to that. I will try to post pic, I was never overweight, I am 5'4" and weigh 125 lbs. I have 2 kids by C-section, and had loose skin. My procedure was to fix my hernia, and a full Tummy tuck. Because I did not have a lot of skin to pull down, I have a vertical incision above my pubic area to close my old belly button. But all this is below my panty line.

Overall, today is better than before... and I look forward in healing quickly and getting back to my normal life.

Speedy healing to all of you, we can get though this, keep the your eyes on the prize - the end product.

My surgery is a 4 days away, and I have not done any of the preparation you all did prior to surgery... No Vitamins, no recliner, no grocery shopping, no nothing. Am I in trouble...What do I really need?

My husband will be around to get me what I need and help with the kids, so that is my plan. Am I in for a rude awakening?

Hello and welcome to the conmunity. Your gonna love this site. All the ladies are very kind and helpful. I can tell you that I was a last minute preparer. Meaning I was shopping for things the day before my procedure. I didn't purchase a recliner. Some Ladies from the April TT forum who have purchased or rented them have said its not a must. I slept on my sofa and I'm still there. I'm 12 days post op. gauze, antibiotic ointment, micropore tape and band aids may be necessary. These are a few things I've purchased. Hope this helps. Good luck
Thanks... I think I am going to chicken out of this surgery. I am scared as hell. Not sure I am mentally ready to go through with this.

I bought some protein drinks and protein bars to help in the healing process. I made a whole bunch of food the day before so all the family had to do was go in the fridge and grab it. And all the stuff that jeni got I bought too. Hope this helps:) good luck to ya!
Diva, if you have someone helping you with meals, that's really important the first few days. I stayed with my boyfriend and he made me soups and light meals. You will be pretty helpless at first. If he's going to be too busy with the kids you may want something prepared for him to give you. I think the recliner was really good for me but a lot of the ladies here manage ok with lots of pillows to prop up the back and bend the knees. You won't be able to lie flat for a while. I didn't really need those big pads (like wee wee pads) because I didn't leak a lot of fluid but I've heard a lot of the ladies need them. I bought no special vitamins or protein powder and I was fine but you might want to make sure you have the right spanx type garment that your surgeon wants you to have unless he provides those. (Some of the ladies here wore their first binder for a long time but I had lipo and needed compression on my legs.) I seemed to be shopping a lot for those as soon as I could drive and your husband probably won't be much help with shopping for those. I wasn't super prepared in advance and I survived. The one thing I wasn't prepared for was how hard the first few days would be being up and to the bathroom and that's when the recliner and husband really helps. I didn't find this discussion group until I was 2 or 3 days PO. I might have bought more than I needed to after reading some of the lists of things. Make sure you have some stool softeners!!!!
I did not do anything to prepare and did fine. My husband helped me. I already had a recliner, and just stayed in it for the first several days. But think I would have been ok in bed with several pillows. I made like a nest on bed when i started sleeping in it and it worked great. You said. You may chicken out. I think that's a normal thought. I felt that myself, up until the surgery. But if it helps let me tell you that I knew the results before the tt. I would have done it much sooner. I am so pleased with the results. If I would have chickened out I'm sure I would still have my old tummy right now. This really is the best thing I've ever done for myself. And I hope you take this journey for yourself. Good luck.
I am three weeks post op. I took the vitamins two weeks prior to my surgery but nothing after. I didn't have a recliner either. Just make sure you have pain meds nearby and Milk of Magnesium(helped me better than stool softener) and some ice packs for first day or so!!! You'll be fine. First week is rough but it does get better!!
