Naturally, I am a very private person, but I...

Naturally, I am a very private person, but I wanted to write a review to give credit where it’s due. For the longest time, I didn’t like the shape of my nose. It was one of those mild insecurities that drove me a bit insane at times because it was a flaw I could physically focus on. No one in my family or friend group saw anything wrong with it. That small imperfection only I could see was my own little vanity. I waited until the summer of my graduating year from high school so that I could start fresh at college.
My family’s basic motto is “if you don’t like it, change it” so having this surgery was a way that I could change what I didn’t like. That’s the mindset I had going into the rhinoplasty. It was somewhat a scary idea to me, but the end result would be something I’d wanted for a long time. Of course, I was nervous about what the end result would look like. I had a picture in my head of what I wanted, but I wasn’t sure if my surgeon would be able to carry out my idea. Also, I generally had a fear of plastic surgery since it was very possible that the end result would look unnatural. I was given a packet listing all the possible side-effects of the surgery and pain that I could endure before the operation and that was a scare on its own. Lastly, there was the price tag, which speaks for itself.
All of my concerns, however, were proven to be groundless. Firstly, and most importantly, my nose looks natural and exactly like I had wanted. My results, coupled with service and care of Dr. Ganchi and his incredible staff, were totally worth the price. The hook nose I once winced at in the mirror is now a beautiful feminine profile I am amazingly proud of. (Excuse the lack of pictures, like I said, I am private to begin with.) I don’t remember much of the surgery besides lying on the table and then waking up. There was absolutely no pain and very little bruising during my recovery period.
When I had the brace on my nose for the first week and was not allowed to move, I was uncomfortable because I had to have so much padding on my nose. I blow my nose, so I was very congested and breathing through my mouth all the time. The first week you go without a shower because that would detach a brace on the bridge of your nose, so you feel very oily and dirty during that period even if you take a sponge bath and wash out your hair. That, however, was the worst possible thing that happened during my entire experience. After my brace came off, I took a shower and all was right with the world.
For another two weeks, I believe (I can hardly remember since it went by so fast), I still wasn’t allowed to move too much. I spent a lot of time watching Netflix on the living room couch during the first stretch of recovery. It may be boring, but it was vital for good results. Everything healed exactly when it was supposed to for me, so, although it may be hard to do, listen to the doctor and stay in one spot for the allotted time.
In the end, I got the results I wanted, I experienced no pain (besides soreness when scrunching my nose during the first weeks), and am now back to my normal life after only a month. I should also mention that I met with some of my high school friends a little afraid that they would notice the difference and I would have to explain my vanity, but they didn’t. My results looked so natural and fit my face so well that my closest friends didn’t notice. I found that to be an amazing accomplishment and it makes me even happier that I chose to change my nose. I have no regrets and only have good things to say about the overall experience.

Again, I was nervous about having surgery to begin with when I came into Dr. Ganchi’s office. I will say, the one negative I have to say about my experience there is the waiting time. My family would arrive at the office for an appointment at three and be in a waiting room until five. (Not all the time, but a couple of times.) However, that is the only complaint I really have, and it’s a small one. I met with Dr. Ganchi a handful of times, but each time he and his staff was very open and patient with my mother, father and me. He didn’t make us feel rushed and sat with us through all of our questions. Every little part of the surgery was explained to us. By that I mean that if he told me I had to do something, he’d explain to me why. For example: He told us that I wasn’t going to be allowed to move for the first week because I’d start bleeding and I couldn’t shower because the steam would make the brace lift off my nose, which would affect my end result. If we had any questions as to why we had to do something, he had no problem answering them for us. The staff members were all great. All of them were welcoming and kind. Any questions we had about the surgery or the process of payment, recovery, rescheduling, or anything else, they’d either answer right away or find out for us immediately. Every time we stepped into the office area, it was nothing but positivity. Another great thing I should mention about the aftercare was that Dr. Ganchi and his wife, who works there as well, both gave my family their cell phone numbers so that we could call at any time, 24 hours a day, to answer the smallest questions or handle an emergency. We called a few times just to check if I could go for a walk or change the padding on my nose, and they always answered the phone. I called the office sometime later to ask if they had any tips for the sudden spring of acne I’d gotten after the surgery and they sent me a free pad I could use to wash my nose (since I still was not allowed to really touch it at that time). They didn’t have to, but it was little details like that which gave off the impression that Dr. Ganchi and everyone working in his office cared. So, I highly recommend going to him if you are looking for a plastic surgeon. You won’t regret it.
