3 months today!

I'm back.. sorry it took so long to update my progress. I would take photos, hoping to post an update, then immediately delete them thinking the next day would show better results.. But since today is my 3 month update, I figured I should show photos of my progress.. Not hugee progress, but I'm grateful for the slight changes..

My recovery was long and tedious, but I'm happy to say that my only issues now are swelling and some numbness. I went into the hot tub mid August and spent the next week super swollen. So no tubs or Jacuzzi's for a while. I also noticed that if I drank wine, I was more swollen in the morning. Rats. So needless to say I have some swollen mornings ; )
I am still numb on my lower back but I have feeling back on my upper back. My legs are still a work in progress so I try to elevate them as much as possible.

Liposuction is the way to go if you have deposits of fat stubborn places. So for the first time ever, I now fit clothes without having to cinch in the gaping waist and stretch out the tightness in the legs. Happy happy..
I just reread my last update. The weigh scale will not be coming out of the closet until I know I will like what it says! So maybe in a month. I have been watching my diet and I've started back with the walking. It still hurts when I run so I will stick to walking for now.

The biggest advice I can give anyone thinking of getting lipo in lots of areas.. be patient with your results. Considering the trauma your body just went through, it's a wonder it ever recovers.. Also, don't take this procedure lightly. If you only get one or two areas done, you may bounce back quickly. If you have more areas done and you are at a vintage age like myself (over 50) then expect to have a few weeks of "What the hell was I thinking??" followed by a few weeks of discomfort. Keep your expectations realistic (ie, to get your current clothes to fit better), book with a top notch PS and have a sense of humour and you will be happy with your results..
I will post another update when I think there is more progress. Not sure when that will be!

one month update.. I'm seeing a new shape, yay!

I was going to post earlier, sorry it's taken so long. What a month! Keep in mind that my experience may be quite different than your own as I had a lot of areas liposuctioned. I think the last few days are the first time in a while that I have felt almost like myself. I still have lots of swelling and some discomfort, but whenever I feel like complaining I think of two things.. One, I did this voluntarily to myself.. and two.. I see changes to my body daily so I should not be such a baby! My legs are still quite puffy especially at the end of the day. From what I've learned from this site and from my doctor, it's normal and it will go away (someday..) My stomach now feels like I've been to the gym and performed hours of sit ups : ) I read other people mention this but here I am feeling it for the first time after a month..
Now about that compression garment.. I love it and I really hate it.. I hate it when I have lots of swelling and it's tight. It also is harsh when it's hot out.. oh so itchy! I love it when I first take it off, so nice! Then I walk around for a bit without it on and my skin still feels like it's floating and not really attached to me. So then I put on the old garment and I love it again as it puts me back together like Ms Humpty Dumpty. My doctor told me I can now stop wearing it and that freaks me out somewhat.. I may still sleep with it on much to my husband's dismay. He says it's not my sexiest look..
I ended up getting the information on my procedure and I had 3500CC of pure fat removed. I am happy about that.. BUT I ended up putting away my weigh scale as my weight fluctuated so much and sometimes it was way up.. So off it went into my closet until my 3 month mark.. The first week none of my clothes fit. Way too tight with all the swelling. At the end of the second week, I ventured into my closet again and tried on some clothes. I was so relieved that not only did they fit, most of them were loose. So even if the number on the scale freaks you out.. go try on some of your old clothes. It might cheer you up.
I will update in a month : )

I am 51 years old and I had come to terms with my pear shape ( triangular pear shape to be exact) but over the last year I noticed my pear shape turn into an apple! Not good. I have never been thin. My biggest insecurities were my fat knees and hippy hips. Menopause comes at me full speed and now my waist looks like a trunk and I have back fat for the first time. Keep in mind I had already accepted my 36AA boobs and trunk-like legs, now I had more of me hanging off the sides of my junior department bra! Yuk. I researched my area for the best ps and went for my first visit. I must say it was awkward standing in front of him with my paper undies on showing him all my chub. We decided to lipo my hips, abdomen, knees (yes!) thighs and my flanks. My procedure was 6 days ago and I'm glad I did it. I can't say I'm enjoying recovery.. This site really helped me to prepare for my post op. I made some dinners in advance and put them in the freezer, I had a fridge full of cool gel packs and easy to digest food.
The staff at the clinic were fabulous as I was nervous. I had watched too many you tube videos of lipo so my mind went to all the grisly things I had seen.. In this case, I did not need to know every detail. Ignorance to some point would have been better! I went under general anesthetic which was the best for me. Every one has an opinion on that, I trusted my ps who has been doing his job now for many years so it was a good decision.
My first two days were a bit of a blur, but I felt surprisingly good considering the trauma my body had endured. It was day 3 until now have been the worst. Prepare yourself for the swelling. It's progressively worse. I'm hoping that things will start to calm down soon. Yesterday my garment was so tight I could barely move.. Keep in mind I had many areas done. If you only have a few,you may not get the monster swelling that I am having.. I will post a few pics but I'm going to wait to take more until next week when I can see past the bloat. I'm also experiencing numbness in my back and sides, but I have no issues with my abdomen, go figure.
I am amazed at the reviews I read from some of you that went back to work or had to look after little ones at home. Wow.. I can barely get my own act together. Definitely arrange for someone to help out for the first few days at least. Today was first day I ventured out to run an errand. Maxi dress on, sunglasses on.. Swollen ankles..check!! Baby steps!
I will post back with my progress. Thank you to all of you who posted your experiences. I never felt like I was alone and I was able to find out the answers to so many of my questions. You're awesome!
