I am day 4 post op, I was petrified about the op. geared myself up for the worst experience, I've had 2 babies and this was no where near as bad as that! I haven't had the bandages off yet so I am expecting that to be bad. I have a 2 year old to look after and am coping well. I struggled to buy bras and find clothes to fit. I wish I'd done it earlier

Just been to have my bandages removed. So pleased with my new boobs. Slight shock at how they looked and the smell!!! If you've ever cut yourself deep through a nerve - chefs would know this, the numb feeling you have, that how my bobs felt. Weird feeling!! The bra I bought was too small. I was estimated at 32 d. So I bought 32 ee but the back size wasn't big enough. I'm itching a bit. And feel a lot more open to the elements so am been cautious with everything I do, whereas before I was safe behind my bandages. Next appointment in 5 weeks!!!!

Day 8 post op. very sharp shooting pains in my boobs that take my breath away is this normal? My tummy is still swollen, but I haven't been for no2 since before my operation now, which is slightly worrying. I am a fussy eater so my poor diet is to blame I think. Still no shower and still can't drive, surgeon said to wait until Monday which would be 2 weeks. I so want to go shopping for clothes, but am resisting until the month is up!! Surgeon said I can then buy normal bra too. :-)

So tired today. Day 10. Feel like boobs have swollen even more. Belly still swollen aswell. Can't believe how tired I am! And still really emotional. Weird

Woke up at 1am, awake till 4.30am so again, extremely tired as my little ones wake up at 7am. Looking forward to having a shower tomorrow. What was everyone else's experiences at first shower? Did it hurt? What products have any uk b/r people used on their scars and did you use while stitches still there? Mine are dissolvable and I have no idea how long they take to dissolve?

2 weeks post op today. I took my plasters off last...

2 weeks post op today. I took my plasters off last night just before I got into bed and took some photos. On my right side there was green puss on the plaster. I couldn't see any swollen areas but it is more bruised than other areas. I got a little upset. Don't get me wrong, I love the size but I got upset because they are just so different. I think my nipples have been put on too low. Be honest with me girls, I can take it!! Had a proper shower this morning. My boobs are so tender and sensertive it was difficult to enjoy the shower. Oh sound so ungreatfull. I'm just so tired still I think.

Went back to work today. Everyone commenting on my boobs gave me a right boost. My work colleges knew I was going into hospital for reduction. Why wouldn't I tell them, I was excited about it ! I'm tired now though. Nipples tender as I can feeling them rubbing against bra, which can only be a good sign? The bra starting to feel slightly loose which mat mean the swelling is starting to go down. Difficult to reach up high still but doing well. Showering to wash my hair is still off the cards so I still do that over the side of the bath. Getting shooting pains in the middle of my boobs which again I think is a good sign. I have had no need to take any meds apart from the first day I left hospital. Still tearful, but that's down to being tired I think. All in all doing well and loving my new tiny boobies!!

So, 4weeks 2 days post op. had I tiny spilt in wound on my left side. It's sore, but ok. Just keep finding blood on my bra. I've put sudocream on it and its healing nicely. I'm doing everything I did before my op apart from holding my 2 year old front on, she sits on my hip if I pick her up!! Now I need to start my diet and exercise to lose the belly fat !! Not as tired anymore, birthday on Sunday so hoping to go bra shopping!!!! New pictures added.

Hi girls. So haven't been on here for a while!! Had a busy Xmas and new year. Lots of parties and drinking!! My boobs have healed brilliantly. I had No problems other than a little scab on my right boob. It has left a darker scar. Just been to Tenerife in the sunshine, loved wearing my tiny bikini! Didn't care about the scars. I had the operation because I was unhappy with my size and pain I was in, the scars are the last worry to be honest. I'm proud of the scars!!! I am currently a 34 e as I put half a stone on over the Xmas period!! Just started back to my boogie bounce classes which was quite difficult, as continuous bouncing on a trampoline for an hour kinda hurt my boobs, and the next day....Jesus they hurt, I'd used muscles that had been sliced through I suppose so it was to be expected!! Here's to losing a stone now, then maintaining that weight!! Love my boobs, shape a still a little pointy, but its only been under 3 months.

8 months on

Hi all. Just a quick update and some pictures. My scars are really fading, they weren't a concern of mine anyway but I am pleased with them. I haven't used anything on the scars at all. I have put a stone on since my operation, which I am really disappointed with as it has increased my boob size but hopefully I will work that off. Without my bra my boobs are still pert, before they used to be touching my belly!!

Hi! You seem to be doing really well. I am in the UK and am pushing for an NHS BR as I suffer with backache and shoulder pains. I am a 34G sometimes an H (depending where I shop) and am a size 10, my GP sent me to a physio to help with the pain and said she didn't believe that I needed a BR and that someday I would be grateful for them... Physio on the other hand was much more understanding and says he will make his recommendations. Did they state you needed a BMI under 25? Mine is over 25 by a few decimals.. also did they PS say a D cup was the smallest you could go. Ideally I would like to be a C as I think a D would still be too large for my frame? Apologies for all of the questions, I just haven't come across maybe ladies that are on this site and going via the NHS route.. Thank you!

Wow i think i would have smacked the physio!! I was a 36f and my ps took me down to a small c.

Hi, I think I'm one of a tiny few that managed NHs from uk on here. I literally went to docs, asked the question and she said about the bmi. I fell pregnant after that, so did nothing. Then 1 year after having my second baby, I lost weight and asked again. Told them I'd already lost the weight as I knew they'd tell me I had to do that. I'm a size 12/14 and weighed 10st4. I got to choose from 3 hospitals. I went to see surgeon, he measured me, weighed me and then I had photos taken. 9 months later I got a letter with my date. I am extremely lucky as I have 2 friends who have been waiting longer than me. I do have scoliosis so presume that's why no questions were asked. On day of surgery he said about size, I said e as I didn't want to look stupid for my frame, he said it wasn't worth the op if I didn't go to a d to dd. I'm glad he said that now, I don't think you get to choose your size on NHs? I actually now think they're too big, and am hoping they're still swollen. I'm currently wearing a 34 e sports bra, going to get new bra today hopefully so will update on size later!!!!! I am really pleased. My boobs look the exact same as they did before, just shrunk!!!! I was really worried about NHs, but was worrying about nothing!!!

Interesting read ladies thanks! Nice to see some uk gals here too! I had a private reduction nearly 3 weeks ago but my sister had an NHS BR about 2 years she went from a double GG to a B (she actually feels too small now, wish I had that problem) and had a BMI of over 25. You have the right to a referral at least, go back to the dr and ask again. I don't see why they would only reduce to a D? That doesn't really make sense as if you have a small frame then a D is still large so I think it is size estimated on individual body shape/size etc.

Also what was the Dr thinking saying you would be greatful for them one day? What a totally daft thing to say. I went to my nurses appointment last night and told her I thought mine were still too big...an she (with small boibs) said she'd kill for boobs like mine now. I couldn't believe it, that's my point they are still big! I don't want people with small boobs saying they'd live boobs like mine. I want to be the girl with small boobs!

I think the drs and nurses forget that its such a big issue for us, my gp was horrifyingly rude to me when I went to see her. I think I will book to go back and see I different Gp. Also my sister keeps telling me I shouldn't have a BR until I have child, I am only 22 and can not see children in my future for at least 6 years MINIMUM! does she have a point will they grow back or will they be really weird if I have it now and then go on to have children in the future..

So I've been home from hospital 3 weeks today. I am 23 days post op. doing really well, back at work, although this is making me so tired still as I work shift work so sometimes don't finish work until 11.30pm, then up with kids at 7am, but I just have a short half hour nap if I'm tired. I still have a few stitches that haven't dissolved yet, and the end of my cuts closest to my armpits hurt every now and then and are slightly red, but just it to get on with it. I am doing everything I dd before my op,, except reaching up very high. My mom commented on how well I am doing, she thought I'd be laid up for weeks, but I just think if you sit doing nothing your never going to heal. Movement and blood circulation is what's needed after the initial first 4 or 5 days of recovery. Looking forward to buying bras, still in my sports bra for few more days. Back to see surgeon on 21 st dec. Personal question, how long did everyone wait to get up close and personal to their partners?!!! hope everyone else is recovering and enjoying new boobs!!!!!

Funny that, I wondererd that myself pren-op too but didn't want to as my PS. I guess it depends how you are feeling, arousal can apparently make the boobies swell a bit. I personally have.....ya know.....gotten up and personal but told him to stay clear of my noobs and everything was fine! hehe. xx

It is very normal to get those sharp pains shooting through you , and the extra sensitive nipples too . As the weeks go by you will see them lessen . I will be honest and say when I looked at your pics the first thing I thought was oh your nipples are very low . I was wondering if you had spoken to your ps about it .

I thought they were. But now, I think they look exactly the same as they did before, just smaller, lets face it, at my age my nipples are not going to be up high! And I wanted them to look natural. I might mention it when I go back for 6 week check, but what can they do anyway??

Yes I found I was emotional when I got tired too. Take it slow you still need your healing time! Glad you love your size. It will get better everyday

My first thought when I saw the pre-op was that the mark up looked a little low, and then the nipples lower than others on here post surgery but then I thought hang on, now she looks like every woman who has never had surgery. They have a natural look from the get-go :)

Ah thank you. Yeah after looking at other people's pics I thought the same. I'm very happy with he size. And my hubby like them so I suppose that's all that matters!!

Listen You are not ungrateful you have just been through a lot and I have to be honest with you they look beautiful and will be changing and getting better with time. Just be patient and make sure you rest and I know I was very emotional through the past 20 days so just relax and heal. Keep us posted.

no the nipples are not too low, they look far more natural in that position! Plus I was watching Embarrasing bodies the other night, love that program and a lady had come on 20 yrs after her BR saying that as her boobs had naturally drooped her nipples had stayed put. So if they put them too high in time they will look even higher in time. We have only just had the op and it is such a huge change. I had my first shower earlier, didn't wash my hair, literally just what I could reach. I felt odd, more disorientated than giddy but I was moving in slow motion. I was shitting my pants over a shower! crazy. xx

I am also nervous about showerin the first time! I am seeing my PS tmrw, so will let ya know what he says. He may say don't for a while, depends on the incisions I guess. I did ask him about what to use and whether I could massage them once closed and he did say bio oil but that its expensive. I bought some weeks ago from boots when it was on offer. I slept with 2/3 pillows under my knees last night which was a tip I had got from another lady on here. It was more comfortable plus I ate a good meal and kept warm so that helped a bit. Its so cold at the mo! I am driving myself nuts but knew that this would happen. Plus I feel pluuuuurrrr from lack of showering. I have had a good wash every day but not the same. My dressings are making me itch too and I dread to think that I will be sat in the waiting area tmrw scratching my noobs in fron of people without realising. I really don't want to be arrested. I have no idead either how long dissolvable stitches take to dissolve. The nurse did say to me on d/c that some can work their way out from the skin and thats normal. I will have a list of questions for hime tmrw, I will forget if I don't jot them down! I reckon all of us noob ladies should get together and group hug. Gently!! Thank God for this place or else I would have been sectioned by now!!! xxxxxxxx
