Im 48 now had my implants in 2004 during my divorce. I've felt that they don't suit my body for a while now and have decided after reading this site to go for it. I have for a while felt they looked wrong on me and wondered why I did this to myself but I was in a different place back then. My kids are really supportive which is great as I'm a single mum. I am going on Hols the week before I get it done and in hindsight wish I had booked that time to get it done but too late now. I am wondering whether to be up front so to speak at work or whether to just book the week off and say nothing....any thoughts?

Still not sure on my date and wondering if I...

Still not sure on my date and wondering if I should wait a bit after the hol so I can book time off work. Unfortunately my surgeon away on hol herself then so would have to wait till sept which is not ideal as kids back to school etc. I just hope for a speedy recovery. Still stressing about people noticing at work as it's not really a conversation I want to have! Friends have recommended wearing my old bras padded out lol. Really not sure what to expect as I was a AA before the implants. Getting slightly cold feet but deep down I know I'm doing the right thing

Getting ready for my surgery on monday morning!...

Getting ready for my surgery on monday morning! Swaying between trepidation and excitement to have this over. Can anyone recommend a cream or oil to aid healing and recovery of skin tone etc. thanks x

Glad to hear all is well. I had a hectic first week but I'm making up for it now, sitting in the sun with a cuppa as we speak! My dressings came off yesterday and I'm a bit tender but other than that I'm very happy with the outcome too. Take care. X

Sounds lovely! Glad you're on the mend too. It seems 5 mins since you were off to have your op and I was on hols! Thank you for your support with this. I found this site very informative and helpful. Best wishes xx

Hi runninggirl . . So glad to hear you are doing well. Take it easy and let thing heal. My ps said it takes a good 6 months for the breasts to heal on the inside.

I know exactly how you feel, you will be fine. I found getting my head round it the hardest part. Take it easy over the weekend. X

Hi Running girl, I took a week off my work and all I said was that I was going for an op. No Questions asked but if they had I would have said its regarding my breast and that I didn't want to talk about it as it really isn't anyone's business. My close friend at work knew and she said when I returned that it just looked like I had lost weight! I was wearing 3 sports bra's just to support them. Other people commented on how I looked slim and had I been dieting, so I was well chuffed and just said yes! lol Hope this helps you and you are doing the right thing, it feels great to be soft, warm and natural again. I really don't miss the hard implants which always felt cold?! Good luck xxx

Thanks for you post your comments are really helpful. I am slowly coming to terms with the thought of having my small boobs again. I will search for a variety of bras this weekend and will probs do the same thing and wear one on top of another for support and disguise! I know I am doing the right thing, I just have to get my head round it! Thanks again x

Hi Runninggirl

I have just returned from holiday yesterday and my explant is on 30th. My surgeon suggested I enjoy my hol before the op. I'm hoping to be fit for return to work on 8th Aug otherwise I'm gonna have to get a sick line! I've not told anyone about the op other than my hubby. Don't really want all the questions and opinions. Will see how I feel once it's over and I've got my head round it all. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi laineylou I have just noticed your post on my review as I've just left one on yours. Good luck for Monday, if your anything like me you'll be a bit up and down right now but this site is great for reassurance. I am posting this from my hol and have a pre op the day I get back then surgery Monday after you. I haven't really planned it very well as have to get back to work week after but I'm hoping for a speedy recovery. I haven't told anyone at work as also just don't want to have the conversation about it. I am hoping no one will notice( prob very niaive). Please let me know how things go, you ladies on here are so inspirational!! X

ive have took 9days off on anual leave, i couldnt tell my work as no one at work knows i have implants. as you, i will have to start wearin baggy tops and padded bras1
runninggirl 17 Jul 2012
Hi smileagain I'm in the same situation. I have holiday booked and have surgery when I get back. In hindsight it would have been better just book hol and use the time for recovery but having decided I want them out I'm just going for it and the hol was already booked. I'm hoping fir a quick recovery as I'll just have a few more days off after back from hols.

Hi thanks for all your comments. I was going to come clean with the guy I work with( we share same office) and just not bother to sAy anything to the others who work in different office bUt we'll see. I think my date will be 2nd or 7th of aug but still to be confirmed. I'm amazed how little I know about my implants....I think they are over muscle but not sure and no idea what size. I can't believe I did this to myself on a whim with no real investigation about all these things. I am going to post pic but not sure if can do it on iPad as tried before but will persevere!

hi, i personally wouldn't give away too much information. i regretted that i told my pilates teacher before surgery. i told her as i thought i would have to miss lots of sessions, however, i had an excellent recovery, and then wished that i hadnt actually said anything; i then felt embarrassed!!!

rememebr, you can always tell people after if they question you and if you want to shut them up! i also thought everyone would tell, but to be honest, now i realised not everyone in the world was focussed on the size of my boobs!!!

for me, i wish i hadnt rushed in...take a step back, and bear in mind that some of your reasoning for telling people may well be emotional rather than physical (it was for me anyway!!)

good luck and enjoy your holiday! x
runninggirl 13 Jul 2012
Thanks flashgirl I think you are so right there, I am contemplating saying nothing and then just having a week off sick. It will be interesting to see if anyone does notice gonna have to stock up on baggy tops lol! X

hi, i am just saying i need breast surgery ( to explain why i won't be able to use my arms, have a physical job) and so far people have then been far too embarassed to ask any more!
andi22 11 Jul 2012
Hi Lara, I just told work that I was having some surgery (because then I could take sick days rather than holiday) and didnt specify what. When people have asked questions I just said 'womens problems', which usually embarasses them into asking no more! good luck x
BeagleBaby1 11 Jul 2012
My comment to people that ask what I was having done was " just female things". They were happy with that and wished me luck with my surgery.

I had silicone implants out July 6th, just had my drain out and the binding off today and I havent felt this good in a long time. Not having hard balls on the top of my chest will take some getting used to, but i'll get used to it. My ps said they really needed to come out. I had them for 30 years. He was amazed they were intact, but were bleeding through the shell. The CC was a Baker IV with alot of calsification.

Good luck with the decision you have come to.
