5 weeks post-op

Swelling after a long day at work but feeling great.

Getting flatter!

Still a lot of swelling, but it's nice to just wear a tank top instead of compression garments.

2 weeks post-surgery

On day nine I had my drainage tubes removed because they weren't doing much and the right one was very uncomfortable. Up until that point I had been healing very quickly and resting, feeling great! However, on day 11 things took a turn for the worse. I woke up about 10 PM with severe shoulder and back pain like nothing I had ever felt. It made labor pains feel like a walk in the park. I was having trouble breathing, so we called 911. The paramedics came and helped me breeze through the back and muscle spasms enough that we could drive to the ER. After ruling out blood clots and other life-threatening issues they did a CT scan and found that I had pneumonia in my left lung. They sent me home with a ton of antibiotics and narcotics to rest. We got home at 6 AM and I went to bed. However, at 10 AM, just four hours later, I woke up again with pains in my chest that were so awful I felt like my heart was going to explode. I could not breathe at all, so we called 911 again and they came, gave me oxygen, and took me back to the ER in an ambulance. They ran a few more tests and got me started on a higher dose of antibiotic and morphine through an IV to jumpstart the curing of the pneumonia. Got home that afternoon and slept for the next day and a half. After two days of antibiotics I started to feel immensely better and one of my drainage tube sites, the one that had always been uncomfortable actually opened up and used infectious fluids, making that area of my body feel much better as well. Let's just say that was a rough week.
I am now three weeks post surgery and feeling much better. I still can't stand up straight and cannot lift anything over 5 pounds for two more weeks, making the care of my four small children extremely difficult, but I'm trying to be patient and everything is going along well. I am no longer taking any pain killers or drugs of any kind, but instead drinking lemon water with Tumerick which has taken the swelling down in my abdomen quite a bit.

Truly remarkable work. If you look at my post-surgery incision, you will see how beautifully straight it is, and the stitching is excellent and clean. He used the best methods and worked with the most educated and friendly nursing and PA staff I've encountered.
