I am 26 years old and I am scheduled for a tummy tuck and breast reduction on July 21, 2010. I am really nervous since I have never been under before. I am currently 5'2 and 170 lbs and I am scared that the results will not be that great. Has anyone of my size had a TT recently?

Updated on Aug 4, 2010:
My Dr. was very professional and the outcome has been great!

I am 2 weeks post surgery today and I go to see my plastic surgeon tomorrow to get the drains removed. I am a little nervous about the drains but at least they are coming out! Also I am not able to stand up straight yet! Is this normal? I will try to post my before and after photos tomorrow!

Hi,I am almost your size. I'm a bit taller but also weigh a bit more. I am 5 6" and weigh 177.8 or at least that's what I weighed before surgery. I had a breast reduction and full tummy tuck a few days ago. My big day was July 8th and the drains were taken out today. Like you i was so nervous too but I'm so glad I did it. I'm very happy with my results even though my tummy is still very swollen. I look and feel great. The tubes coming off make a huge difference. You have a liitle over a week before your big day. Read others advice and tips on here and do and buy everything you can. Believe me I made myself a huge list and bought everything on it. Everything I bought was from the tips and advice I read and recieved on here. Thanks to all the tips and advice on here, I am having a great recovery and I couldn't have done it without you guys. One thing I did as well that seems to make me feel good is walking out of my room into my clean house. I did a major summer cleaning right before my surgery and assigned everyone ashore list that way they keep up with it. Since then my house has remained as clean as I left it. I also bought a months supply of groceries and other household necessities. That seems to be helping alot as well. If you have any questions or just want to talk I'm always available. Good luck and best wishes. I can't wait to hear all about it. Take care

Thank you so much for the advice. I have been on this site for almost 2 hours trying to absorb all the information. I believe my biggest fear is that i won't be able to tell a difference but after looking at all the photos I am truly impressed! Have you found any product that you absolutely couldn't live without during the last few days. I have such a long list of things to get!!! Like you I am planning a huge clean this weekend and I am preparing at least 2 weeks worth of meals for the freezer. How were you after you woke up from the surgery and do you know how long your surgery lasted? Thank you so much for all the info!!!!

I made a week meal planner which includes all 3 meals and two snacks per day. My meal planner seems to be working out nice. I've been trying to post pictures but have been unsuccessful. Maybe I'll try from the computer instead of from my phone because I would love to share my results with you. I must say at the beginning I felt that my boobs were to small but they are not. It just took some getting use to. I guess they seemed to be too small because they were way too big before. However, everyone that has come to see me seems to be very impressed with them and thinks they are a perfect size. The one thing I couldn't have made it without is gas-x and cough drops. Oh and flexible drinking straws, and of course your pain meds and Alegre to take in between. I'm sorry, I know you only asked for one thing and I just went on and on before I realized I better stop myself. I woke up sick from my surgery. I was really nauseated so they decided to admit me. I couldn't have imagined going home. The over night stay at the hospital was the best thing I could do for myself. The nurses all said they are so glad I stayed because after a procedure like that going home shouldn't have even been an option. So if you are able to PLEASE stat over night. You will be so glad you did. I was in surgery from 7:30am to 1:30pm. My family wasn't called in to see me until 4:30pm. That was when they decided to keep me overnight. My family agreed that me staying overnight was the best thing for me also. I hope I was able to help you and am happy to answer any questions you may continue to have.

I just remembered an important item that I can't imagine being without. That item is a lift chair or lift recliner. I rented it from Rent a Center and had it delivered a few days before my surgery. This recliner has been my best friend. It has been a huge help because it lifts me allthe way up when I need to get up to go to the restroom and reclines me all the way back when I want to sleep. My bed is very high so there is no way I could have managed. If your bed is not high you may be fine if it is a lift recliner is the best way to go. I rented it for a month for $100. The cool part is I don't need to rely on my family to help me up. I could do it on my own. Thanks to my chair. :)

Thank you for all the info! I am going to go to rent a center this weekend and see if I can get one of those chairs! I will def put pics up once my surgery is over!!!

I just had my TT on Thursday, July 8, too. I'm hoping to get my drains out on Wed. I can't wait to hear how things go for you. I think the advice you've gotten so far has been great. I have posted pics. I am 5'2" and was about 152 at surgery time. I am more swollen now than in my "day 1" after pics, but I know I'll be thrilled w/the result. Best wishes!!

Hi. I am your size and had a very sucessful TT. I also went home afterwards, which was tough to lay down and get back up for the bathroom - but I survived! I only took 1 vicodin (which I later threw up..owwww) My scar is healed fine, but I am numb in that area. Keep your binder on as much as possible to keep your tummy supported and flat. I wss driving myself in about 10 days, and wore loose sweats/panties for a while. You will be happy.
lacey555 13 Jul 2010
Thank you so much! I am starting to excited about the surgery now that I have heard so many success stories! Did you have a drastic change after the surgery or was it subtle? And if you don't mind to answer, how many pants sizes have you gone down?
bethak 14 Jul 2010
Ya me too , I would like to know. This is such a help. You guys or Gals are great. Thanks so much. I am so anxious.

I had my surgery in 2002. I was post 2 babies, regular and c-section in 1992. As you can see, I waited 10 years before doing it. I had the awful pot belly and stretchmarks. After surgery, I was immediately happy - 14 pounds of ugly gut an 2 7up bottles filed with fat..(yes, I looked) bye bye ugly gut.. hello pleated pants (just my luck they are totally out of style now!) I went from a 14 to about an 8 after about 9 months. I had three things I didnt like - I had a significant almost keloid looking scar above the pubic area, my belly button was really shallow and I had a bulge on each hip where the incision stopped. I just accepted that, as long as pants fit better I was happy. However, by 2005 I had slowly gained the weight back and was so angry with myself! How could I spend that much money and ruin it? Funny thing, the weight came in places where I was never fat before..the bra back, upper stomach and above my rear end... I lost the weight again and went back for a scar revision and extra lipo on the hip bulges. The new "scar" was so much better but I didnt notice anything on the hip lipo - so a year later he did another "tuck" and removed the ugly bumps and did more lipo. This time I went down to a size 6 and stayed that way for a long time. Sadly, I am up to a size 12 again, but my stomach is still flat as a board, I just have fat in new places now... the back, my butt... and any area that had not had lipo... Sigh... I am too embarrassed to go back to the doctor and show him how much I gained so I have to try hard to lose it. So far, no luck!

Hello again! I know each physician is different, but I haven't worn my binder yet. I think it's because I had some lipo done on my back...I'm supposed to take it to my post-op tomorrow. I'll post on my page tomorrow. I've slept in a regular recliner. I've also taken pain pills, but went 10 hrs. today without one. They didn't' tell me not to drive, so I did today with another adult in the car - and only for a short distance... Really, this recovery is WAY easier than c-sections. My PS's nurse reminded me that this surgery is not nearly as deep and doesn't require cutting THROUGH the muscle. ..all work is done on top of the muscle, and I can tell the difference. . .and there are those other "pluses" like: no heavy post-pregnancy menstruation, no weird-hormonal sweats/chills, no infant to care for 24 hours a day regardless of how you feel, no company who forgets that you feel like dirt and wants to see your baby, etc. Not that I would've traded any of that with my babies, but those are definite "betters" for the TT!!! I'm still puffy and am ready to see myself in "real" clothes. I've tucked my TT drains into a bra when I've gone out, and have had compliments. I still feel big, but I think part of that is that I'm so bulky with the dressing and drains... I was a nervous wreck prior to this surgery, but I'm so glad I did it. Now, I want to have my thighs and arms done. . . But I'm SO not telling my husband that yet!!! :-) I'm ready to get back to exercising and "regular" life. . .but really, I built this up to be much tougher than it has been so far! You'll do GREAT!!

I was 5'4" and between 160-165lbs and I am super happy with my results. I did have drastic change in pantsize. I went from a 12/13 to a 7. I had an extended TT with lipo on my flanks. I think you will be super happy with your results. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to be of any help! :)
