I had my procedures done on 9/16/10. So far, the pain has been very manageable with muscle spasms being more of a problem than anything. I can't stand up straight yet, which is to be expected. I can't tell much yet about what my end result will be, but the Dr was impressed and his staff said I was doing great.

It's now post op day 3, I'm going stir crazy! I'm so ready to be back to my normal activities! Standing a little straighter today and was able to use the bathroom. The pain isn't bad, feels more like being in labor (huge muscle spasms) than anything. I just want to be healed already lol!

Wow stir crazy on day 3..impressive!! That is wonderful you are doing so well. I myself was a total train wreck for the first two weeks. Congratulations :)

Thanks for the encouragement! I really didn't have anything to go by in so far as comparing my healing to, but I think I'm doing well. I wish the drains were out and I had my postop binder thingie, but they won't give me that until one week.
Kimmers25 (Community Manager) 20 Sep 2010
Oh you are doing great :) Everyone heals at a different rate and has different pain levels so it is hard to really compare to anything. The drains are a pain in the tush...I know so well. Not that they hurt but they are really annoying. They will come out soon enough and your will be on your way. You don't want to rush that though because if they come out too early you could get fluid build up and you don't want that.

Congrats on the new body!! It is definite worth it. The recovery is a gradual process. My six week checkup for my TT is Tuesday. I should be cleared to resume full activities although I do have some residual tightness.

It's hard to be patient. But you're doing great. Don't push yourself too quickly.

And thanks for posting photos, you look awesome.

Post op day 4. Yuck! I must have overdone it yesterday because I'm tired today. Well, gotta go pick up one the kids-finish later!
realmomof2 20 Sep 2010
ok, gonna finish my POD 4 post. My dear sweet hubby bought me a netbook, so posting is easier now. :) today has really been rough. i fell off the wagon and smoked today, got very sick shortly thereafter. His grandfather died last night, so we went and visited family. I really got stiff and sore in no time. My back has been the biggest source of pain so far today. I can finally see a bit of my navel and it scared me because one of stitches looked black, I emailed a pic to my PS and he said it looked fine. My drainage is decreasing and clearing up now, and I've been keeping neosporin at the insertion sites. as a side note, the office manager was right about my breasts being an afterthought compared to my tummy. I am loving my boobs! they itch a bit and have had a very scant amt of drainage. Very definitely worth it for the looks though! I did try to just take ibuprofen instead of the percocet today, but I finally gave in just a little while ago. There is no way I am up to a shower today. My poor DH worked all weekend so tonight would be great to get a good thorough shower, but it can wait until tomorrow since I've showered each day that I've been allowed. Oh< I did make the mistake of sleeping on my side today (how i normally sleep) and I feel that it allowed my abs to tighten too much so am definitely going to try to stay on my back while sleeping. I haven't been eating well at all. Since surgery 4 days ago, I've had 2 carnation instant breakfasts, one pack of pop tarts, one hot pocket and tonight I had about 1/2 cup of boxed macaroni and cheese. Until tomorrow...

I'm just pissy today lol! Can't stand up straight, which is aggravating me to no end. I didn't nap today, tho I really should have. I just need a day off! I moved wrong getting out of bed this am, which really made me hurt. Also, the sensation is returning in my skin, but its totally bearable. Most of my actual pain is still in my back from being hunched over. I keep trying to straighten out but can only get so far. Oh well, maybe I can get to bed early tonight.

I really appreciate everyone keeping us posted on their journeys. thank you... you look great! It's only been five days and you look just fine. It's encouraging. I intend to have mine in June. Have to save for the pocedure. keep us posted. it is really helpful.

Hang in there girl! It will get better. You will have good days and bad days so just hang tight. The back pain is a total pain in the tush if you ask me. Totally annoying!! Try alternating hat and cold packs and that will give you some relief. Do make sure to take your daily nap though. When you get over tired it makes things worse.

POD 6 Update. I have seriously felt awful today. I slept all night last night then proceeded to sleep DEEPLY all day. I didn't take any rx pain meds, so not sure what happened. I fell asleep while helping my 6yo DS with his homework, and when I woke up I asked him if he'd finished it and he said "No mama, I asked you a question and you didn't answer". Talk about feeling like a horrible mother! I also was unable to go to my husband's grandpa's funeral. I did make it to visitation last night though. From a surgical standpoint, the pain has been fine. Some incision and drain insertion site pain, but that's manageable with neosporin with pain reliever in it. I have cut some dangling pieces of steri strip off just because they were annoying. I have no wound drainage at all. My swelling has decreased dramatically and unlike some other reviewers I have actually lost a couple of pounds. Not too concerned about it though. I have definitely been eating more today.

POD 7, not much to tell. Back to Dr tomorrow for my one week followup, supposed to get these stupid drains out!!! I think I will feel a bit more human then, but of course they will add the dreaded binder. I'm hoping it will help me stand better.

THE DRAINS ARE OUT!!!! YES!!!! I also got my compression girdle thingie and it is soooo much easier to walk. Had a bout of what I think may have been hypoglycemia while in the office. I had some nausea earlier this am but it cleared. While in the office I got hot and sweaty and felt like I was going to pass out. Have felt like that a few times since starting all these supplements. I took my last dose of bromelain this am and I'm not going to take any more arnica either. Just going to finish my vitamins. I have very little swelling, if any. They removed every other stitch from my breasts and the sutures at the ends of my tummy incision. I go back in one week. Will post updated pics later.

Cleaned house a bit today. One of my drain holes is still draining a significant amount, but is ok. I also have a small open area underneath one breast, but it appears to be old. Looks as if there was tension on the suture line. Keeping it covered with neosporin as best I can. My belly incision is still looking good, praying it stays that way.
realmomof2 26 Sep 2010
Made it to church today, so glad of that! Am finding that I need to push myself to stand straight as my body is now able but unwilling to maintain it.
realmomof2 27 Sep 2010
POD 11. Have some strange places in the incisions under my breasts. I've been putting neosporin on them and I think maybe I shouldn't have been because they look too wet. Belly looks fine, still tight and I have to push to stand up straight. The compression garment is the only thing that allows me to straighten fully.

Two weeks out and have been back at work for two nights now. I'm extremely swollen this morning and my skin is even tender. Incisions are healing well.
Loving Me even more Now! 30 Sep 2010
I had my surgery on Sept. 17th so we are on the same timeline. My two weeks is tomorrow. Your posts are very detailed & I like that. I did not experience what you have but I am still interested. I had a full tummy tuck w/lipo only in my abdominal area. As of today (Day 13) I love it and I am feeling great. I am going to continue to watch your progress and at leisure please view mine! Stay encouraged & blessed!

Had my two week checkup today and am angry right now. The nurses wouldn't listen to me when I tried to tell them about an abnormality I noticed in one incision right after surgery that subsequently opened up! I am a nurse and know when something doesn't look right! My compression garment is also rubbing the incisions under my breasts, but no that couldn't possibly be irritating the incisions. Ugh! I'm just disgusted!

Ok, today is POD 15. I have been back at work this week and managed to gain 7 lbs in 2 days. I am the most swollen that I have been. My tummy incisions are all healing extremely well. I am experiencing some itching and am still mostly numb in my midline abdominal area. The only problem I have at all is with my breast lift incisions, but all in all they are healing pretty well too. The only trouble spot is at the edge of the incision underneath my right breast. Immediately postop I thought I had a really long suture that kicked out at an angle, but it turned out to be a cut/scratch of some kind that later opened up after the liberal application of neosporin and a too tight bra.

Post op day 16. Very tired today, I guess from going back to work. My skin on my abdomen has become tender in places, not along my incisions. Will try to post pics in a bit.

Well, I was going to add pics, but it won't let me. Nothing's happening when I click "Edit". It's just reloading the page.
realmomof2 11 Oct 2010
It's been a little over 3 weeks now, all is well, They removed a fairly embedded stitch from the midline of my TT incision which was uncomfortable. Everything is healing well. I still have muscle spasms at times and major skin soreness if I swell. Will update pics soon.
