2 weeks and 2 days post op and feeling wonderful!

First things first, I still have nipple sensitivity! Hip-hip-hooray!! That up's the chances of being able to breast feed, apparently. Also, yknow, other uses.

I probably should've updated more because seeing the more fresh wound pictures really helped me to mentally prepare for what I would look like. Sorry about that.

So my surgery went by without a hitch! I got there at 8:30, was taken back within 45 minutes, and actually got my own room to wait in because someone who looked like he needed it more had taken mine. Dr Lee was surprisingly pleasant and reassuring (if you haven't read the earlier posts, he's usually rude). He drew on me with purple pen and told me it should be very straightforward because I was symmetrical and not too large. They took me to the surgery room and gave me anaesthesia (for those of you worried about it, you don't have to), they just put a mask over my mouth and nose and I fell asleep. I woke up in a room that wasn't my final, sleeping area. I think I was up around 3 pm. I don't remember much about it except that I was seeing two of everyone and I kept asking to see my mom. Dr. Lee came to see me and said the surgery went very well and he was pleased with the results. He said they made me a large C/small D. I was a bit disappointed because I wanted to be a small C, but he said he has a team of nurses that makes sure he doesn't go too big or too small--just proportional. Also, since my breasts were so dense, he ended up taking about 650g from one and 600 from the other which he said was a lot.

My dad stayed with me for a while and then my mom came. My mom kept asking me questions and I was so drugged up I just wanted her to stop. My dad saw that and he said they should leave and let me rest. I tried eating my dinner that night and I couldn't eat much more than the roll because I was nauseous and my mouth was dry. I drank a lot of water just to keep my palate wet, so naturally I had to pee regularly. The first time I tried to get out of bed I almost screamed, the pain was so bad. I tried to use my upper torso muscles too much and I couldn't stop crying for 10 minutes. I still had to pee really bad though, so the nurse just brought me a bedpan (maybe tmi, but I haven't seen anything on here about it and I thought it'd be useful). I had to use that 2 or 3 more times until my really nice night nurse suggested I try again getting up. I was able to by getting as upright as possible using the mechanized hospital bed, and then using my lower abs and grabbing his arm, staying as upright as possible the whole time. Not bending over with my back, but squatting. Each time, I got a little better. I was peeing every couple hours and by 6am I was getting out of bed and going to the bathroom 50 ft away without assistance. By 8am I was starving and I had french toast for breakfast. Not too shabby. I was ready for checkout by lunch but I stayed and ate there because they had brought it already and it was Sheppard's pie. Not relevant, but it was also really good. Maybe that's just because I was so hungry though.

The ride home was brutal with all the bumps, make sure you're up to date on pain meds AND nausea meds before you leave. Once I got home, I stayed on the mechanical reclining chair for 3 nights. I had my brother bring me food. I had to put one arm under my boobs and one arm across them when I walked around because any bouncing was painful. I binge watched netflix to distract from the itching and pain. I was able to massage them without much pain too. The worst area was actually under my arms where he had cut out some of my excess side boob. I wasn't sure where to put this in, but the only complaint I have is how wide they are. They have always been very close together so I doubt there's much he could've done, but they look a bit odd because of it (see pictures). My mom says it makes for good cleavage but I've had enough cleavage in my lifetime, thanks. Anyway, I was in my bed on the fourth night and sleeping on my side after a week.

One of the most unique things to my surgery which I didn't see on here, was that Dr. Lee used surgery glue rather than tape. It made the incisions look really clean and prevented pooching in the scars for the most part except for the corners of the underneath U-shape (see pictures). The close ups are from after I took off the tape with some tweezers and a makeup mirror while watching Netflix. I'm one of those gross people who likes picking at things so it was really fun to pull off the glue and I'm probably really blessed more scabs haven't formed. Keeping them covered up until the scabs heal because I'm gross and I really want to pick them, but I want them to heal nicely and I DEFINITELY don't want an infection! Anyways, tmi again. I can do most anything now besides working out. I do walk with my mom every night though.

OH! One of my biggest issues was constipation. Try to walk around as much as possible, eat fiber, and take your constipation meds religiously. It wasn't as bad with my sinus surgery because I couldn't eat solid foods but HOLY COW was I backed up. I couldn't poop for 3 days despite eating regularly. Even then, it was in pellets. My therapist gave me Swiss Kriss Laxatives and told me to take 1/2 and that made my intestines spastic, but it reeeeally worked. Anyways, beware of that.

Other than that, if you have a large tongue for your mouth, tell the anesthesiologist and they'll put cotton in your mouth. I think that's what made my mouth so dry but when I had sinus surgery, I bit my tongue after they took out the tube and before I was fully awake. THAT was what made recovery awful, not the sinus stuff. MAKE SURE THEY DON'T LET YOU BITE YOUR TONGUE.

And, last tip, ask for a diflucan (yeast infection meds) to be prescribed with your post op meds if you're prone to them. I always get yeast infections when I'm on antibiotics. Can't take it until after you finish the antibiotics though.

I had minimal bruising, and sometimes I still get sharp pains in my breasts that fade quickly, but they're pretty swollen right now. For a little bit, earlier this week, I thought I had cracked a rib or something. When I saw Dr. Lee he said it was just the nerves growing back in under my breasts. Nothing pain killers can do. The pain has since dulled to a soreness in my ribcage. And that bring you pretty much up to date!

Pre-op today, anesthesiologist tomorrow, surgery Wednesday!!

I went in for my pre-op today and learned that "because I'm so young" I'll be kept overnight. My only worry is that Dr. Lee didn't sort of dismissed me when I said I've had bad reactions to dissolvable sutures in the past when I had a mole removed. I was there alone and I was super anxious so I didn't push it, but later my mom brought me to the patient advocacy office and they said they'd get back to me. Hopefully we can get this sorted out before the surgery...

Okay so he's a total dick with the worst bedside manner I've ever seen, but my surgery went BEAUTIFULLY. Almost no bruising or puckering. Perfect size. He did SO well! 10/10 would recommend medically. Also the Tripler nurses were top notch :)
