Mommy Makeover: Stories

On August 17-2012 Dr. Goldberg performed a tummy tuck, arm lift and a thigh lift for me while the gynaecologist that he recommended performed my hysterectomy. I had lost over 100 lbs. (gastric bypass surgery) and was told that I required a hysterectomy. Since I was a saggy mess, I took the opportunity to get everything done at once. It was one of the best decisions that I ever made – no regrets what so ever! All that work required about 7 hours of surgery and I was in the hospital for three days. I would have been in care that long for the hysterectomy alone so having the plastic work done was a real bonus. The hardest part was having both my arms and abdomen in pain at the same time. It was painful to pull or push myself upright for about 2 weeks. I had to wear a compression garment for about a month post surgery and then another small compression garment for another couple of weeks. I am now at the stage of wearing silicone embedded strips over the incisions to aid in the reduction of scarring. I had no problems with any post op infections and my biggest complication was constipation as a result of the pain medications. I have now found that Bran Buds and Colace (stool softener) are my friends.

The decision to have plastic surgery should not be taken lightly and expectations must be realistic. Dr. Goldberg told me at the start that I would be happiest with the tummy tuck and that he could do a good job with my arms. I was warned that I likely would not be as happy with my thighs (they were in very bad shape and much improved by surgery but......). I was also warned that I might not see the full results for several months until the swelling went down. He was right and I appreciated hearing this before surgery. I felt that I was fully prepared for the end results. I am very glad that I chose to have the full package of surgeries and even happier that I chose Dr. Goldberg to take me through it! I look better than I ever have! I was so impressed with Dr. Goldberg and his practise that I had him do a lower facelift and some under eye surgery while I was still off work recovering, but that is another story.....
