Permanent Eyebrows Hair Stroke Technique - Tampa, FL

I had my eyebrows done two months ago and I love them. My technician was very skilled and seemed to be a perfectionist. She uses the hair stroke technique and it actually looks like little hairs instead of one big solid eyebrow

She numbed both eyebrows with a numbing solution. I only felt a slight pinch a couple of times near the outside of the brows that was no worse than when you get a wax.

It was done in an hour. I was a little scared at first because they seemed very dark. The darkness lightened up in a few days and looks great. Makes my mornings a lot faster. Aftercare was easy, and only had to worry about it for about a week. I'm going back for eyeliner soon.

Great review?

I have a few questions to get to the root of the problem!! Are you on any medication? If so, what are you being treated for? And if not, it could be that the color needs to be warmer instead of cooler. Do you know what color was used? I recommend a pigment in a deep brown with a lot of gold. Can you post a photo?

Stylishus.....Your comment is somewhat unfounded. I have been doing PMU for over 7 years and 1000's of happy clients. With proper care before/during & after the procedure, the hair strokes will last...as with any PMU procedure they will soften and fade with time. Each and every client of mine comes back yearly to keep them looking fresh. They are made aware of this. They have no problem doing so to have a Natural looking brow as opposed to a sharpie marker/solid brow. I have had great success with my technique and get calls and emails almost daily from other seasoned technicians that want to train with me. I think that my work speaks for itself and I felt obligated to post this for all the other technicians that also do beautiful hair stroke work.

Mary, so sorry you feel my comment is unfounded (not based on fact or sound evidence), it is my opinion as well as many highly regarded PMU Artists, that Hair strokes do not last. To my point, you say they will "last" with proper care, then why must your clients come back once a year? Perhaps saying you perform semi permanent brows would be a more apt description? Many Technicians (NOT saying you) describe their work as hair stroke, brush stroke and feather stroke but the work looks like they had stitches, staples or grass growing out of their foreheads. They got what their technician called “hair stroke eyebrows”, and yet had the proper powder fill been utilized the outcome would have been beautiful, and YES! Very natural. A combination of a fill using a wash with fine hairstrokes placed over the wash for a more dimensional look is also more desirable, and will most likely fade more evenly and prevent the "spottiness" that I see on clients coming to me for a more permanent brow. I perform tattoo removal so I see a lot of this. This is a direct quote from a well regarded PMU Artist and a member of the SPCP: "Hairstokes will always spread and soften. There is no way to stop that. The best I get is about a year, then they come back for a re-fresher and I add a few dark strokes over the faded base. Most PMU artists on this message board prefer to do a powder fill brow as it ages better than hairstrokes."
A soft powder fill has a lovely outcome and to say it looks like a sharpie marker is unfounded too. There are several techniques a PMU Artist may utilize to create natural brows. I too, have ONLY happy clients by utilizing the method I believe is the longest lasting. Even in traditional makeup we don't "paint" on hairstrokes but rather apply a powder or pencil that gives a natural soft look. For someone with hair albeit it sparse, hairstrokes may look fine because they act as a background for the sparsity (so does a powder fill), but when someone has No brow hair at all, I find them quite discerning to look at, and they fade into jagged blurry tails with no real definition or precision. That being said, if you have clients who sign up for yearly tattooing, and they understand how costly that is, then good for you, your repeat business must be booming! I usually won't see clients back for a touch up for more than 3 years unless they have special needs, or they tan a lot. But what makes all of us PMU Artists unique among our dedicated and loyal followers are our individual tried and true methods, our knowledge and technical expertise, listening to what each client wants as an individual, and the ability to deliver results. I am sure you fall into that category. Please don't feel the need to defend yourself, for it was YOU who got the rave review!

Hi all, I would like to comment on the technique of hair strokes. They are not for everyone, don' last very long and can look like fence posts if done incorrectly. In about 20% of clients they stay as hair strokes, but many times they blow into a fuzzy spotted design and just don't look that good. Many times a soft powder fill is the way to go for a longer lasting brow and less need for touch ups. If the look one is after is a soft natural brow, it can be achieved quite nicely with a shading technique. I would be interested to know how quickly these brows will fade to nothing. In short time, I suspect. The cost for permanent brows is not inexpensive, so the goal would be for them to last at least 2 years. There are many long time PMU experts who agree on the subject of this technique not being the best!

Is there a source for all of this information that you are stating? You say about 20% of clients with hair strokes turn into fuzzy spotted designs? Is this from personal experience or has there been a study done? Just curious. I guess I would just like to know where this info comes from. If that is the case then maybe I will go with a different technique next time. So far so good though as I am very happy with my results.

The hair stroke technique is definately a skill and if done properly the results do last and will require color refreshers yearly...worth it for a soft natural look. This technique is all I do and have done 1000's of eyebrows with excellent pigment retention.
