Best decision ever even with the bumps. - St. Louis, MO

At the height of 5'1", I found myself weighing 272 lbs.. I ended an almost 5 year (toxic) relationship and began losing weight 9 days later.. That was September, 2010. I now weigh 163 lbs and would you believe I'm 5'3"? My spine was compressed. I'm scheduled for a medical study (hence the low cost) on May 31st. I'm excited to get to the end results but am terrified of the pain. I also need my arms done, my breasts done.. They're rather large but sag terribly.

I'll post some pre op pictures sometime this week. Keep your fingers crossed that I get accepted into this study! :)
Have you had a tummy tuck and was it a painful experience? I really am scared. :\

I'm just a short 4 days away. I'm so very excited. I really hope it's worth it. Please tell me it is!! I definitely fear the recovery. I also fear waking during the procedure. Ugh! If I get near a computer, I will post more before pictures. Praying for all of us. :)
I agree, her bmi is fine. There are so many surgical techniques that address the different needs of individual/body types. The shape of my tummy and the looseness of skin and the way it hangs led me to the High lateral tension tummy tuck. The extremely low scar would give me more of a boxy shape and no waist line. But each individual should find surgeons who give pleasing results with clients of their tummy types and circumstances.
The current HLT-tt was touted as revolutionary designed by Dr. Lockwood who specialized in body lifts/tt for his bariatric patients.

I'm feeling much better today. My Dr. Switched my pain meds from Nucynta to Percocet and it has made a huge difference. My incision doesn't hurt at all, it's my internal stitches! :)
Thank you for asking. I know I've been quiet on here. Just focusing on healing. :)

Going back to work tomorrow! It's going to be a long 12 hour day. Thankfully I am a nanny and when the child takes a nap, I can too! :)
Wish me (and my one drain) luck!

Take it slow when returning to work!  Yes you will be tired and sore so just listen to your body.

I'm having a rough day. First, my drain hole (that is inserted into me) began leaking. Then, when my home health nurse came to empty my drain, it was leaking again! She got 78 ml out of it and now, two and a half hous later, it's more that 75 ml full again! What the heck is gong on? Is this normal? I'm so over this drain. :(
Hi Jacklin 72. I am at week 3 and I too still have one drain still in my right side. My daily drainage is between 50cc to 65cc. It is still very dark, blood like, I called my PS to let him know I was a bit concerned. I have a post op with him on Tue to see what's going on. I hear your pain...I'm so over this drain. I've had it so long now that I call it my friend next will come a name like Fred or Sam???

I must say.. I have continued to lose weight after my TT. Today, I am down to 154. I am a muscular woman so my new goal is now 142 so that I have the 140's to play with in my lifelong maintenance and at 142, that'll be 130 lbs lost total. :)
I actually see that in the distant horizon!

Just popped the drain stitch. Ugh! As ready as I am to lose this drain, I'm not really ready. Too much output! Omg. Waiting for my nurse to get here and for my dr. to call. Wish me luck.

GM Jacklin, your prayers were at work after a tough day and wicked night for me, I was able to fall sleep..."YAY!!!"
Thx for the warning about the first week. I do feel such throbbing under the binder, last night it felt like labor pains, I had to remind myself that I wasn't giving birth. By the end of the day the stockings are killing me, between them and the binder my thighs are ready to explode. I can't manage to walk much farther than to the bathroom and don't know if I am getting up correctly from bed. Any suggestions would be loved :) thx again for sharing your journey.
Have a good day, and I really hope the drain can part with you. :-)

Really having a down day. If I had the ability to cry, I suppose I would. Washed my binder and as I sat down without it, I felt so fat.. Gross. Prior to that, I went to the pool (can't swim because of the drain) and proceeded to get an ugly sun burn on my back. Normally by this time of year, I have an awesome tan. My bad. :( Then someone I thought was a friend has gone off on me for no reason. Trying to put a guilt trip on me because I didn't inquire about his best friend's brother who is apparently dying.. I totally would have if he had ever told me about it! Omg! :(
That friendship is over. Tomorrow can only get better though, yes?
The power of positive thinking is truly amazing so I'll keep trying.
:) thank you for putting a smile on my face.

I think I'm finally feeling better. The rash is slowly improving after 2 full days of a steroid. I've been taking lots of benedryl so I've been a bit out of it! My awesome seroma seems to be hanging on for dear life however, it doesn't seem to be getting worse so I'm not too concerned. My doctor doesn't seem to be either. I will see him tomorrow. I hope everyone is doing wonderfully. Sorry for my absence. :) ?

Great story! I have a similar story and am ready for a tummy tuck but hoping to be able to get away with a mini (I love my belly button...lol). Can you please tell me what your Dr's name was? Does the 2500$ you paid include anesthesia and such also? Would love to see updated pics! Congrats on your new life:)

I just now saw this!! My bad! The operation was part of a medical study so that is why it was so cheap. My old belly button was sooooo deep that I am super happy that I have a new one. I gained 15 lbs over the holidays and haven't been super motivate since. Convenience and a new job kinda hinder my workout schedule. I'll go to the gym tomorrow! :)

Dr.

The aftercare has been exemplary. My Dr. Is so wonderful and having a nurse come every single day has been a God send. That ends when I lose the drain so I'm thinking that'll be never! :)
