I have been on this website for a few months. My journey started in March. I had a consultation for a breast reduction. Upon applying for insurance coverage I was denied. I was so upset. Reading reviews posted and wanting this so bad I was instructed by my case worker to call the insurance company. I called everyday for two weeks going between insurance and office personnel. I received a letter of rejection. I actually wrote a letter to my insurance company explaining all symptoms associated with large breast. I know many of you on this site know these, but I will list them anyway.

Sleeping with my hand between my breast and waking up with my hand numb
Holding mu breast off my stomach while sitting to breathe better
Unable to exercise ,which increases my blood pressure and increase chances of diabetes
Unable to sleep

Anyway after my letter I didn't hear from anyone for a month. I actually thought about just investing in bras every couple of months.( cannot wear underwire,so other bras stretch out of place) I was riding in my car and received the news that my surgery was approved. I was so happy. Now I am proud to be amongst the patients posting my journey here. My surgery is set for September 17th. My cost reflects after insurance plus Lipo under the arms.

So upset. My preop is scheduled for next Wednesday, just this week I have been instructed to get even more lab work, a mammogram, and see my primary physician. I have spent so much money before this surgery had even began. I feel exhausted already. My plastic surgeon is concerned because my hemoglobin is only 11. I have been anemic all my life. What am I to do?

First shower tonight since surgery. The nurse at the ps office informed me with three nipple graph my nipple may fall off in the shower. I alerted my family for this but we were not ready to see it I guess. Pieces of the graph fell off. Looks wierd but didn't feel it at all. All stitches come out in the morning. I'm so excited.

I feel great. I have never flashed as many people in my life. Enjoying wearing sports bras that fit. I am loving breathing with ease, no back pain, and no boob sweating when sleeping. Pain is gone. Still sore and swollen at Lipo sites. Nipple graph coloring filling. Still some nipple nerves living. Lol

Great review?

I think its just the dead skin. It starts to look pink for now then the color comes back like a scar would.Just make sure you keep it wet with vaseline so that it softens the dead skin when it comes off to keep it from scabbing. I cover mines with vaseline a gauze thats what my surgeon told me. Make sure not to wear a cute bra cause the vaseline may leak through the gauze(vaseline is hard to come out). But im uploading my nipple graft pics-looks scary.

Also, goggle a list of foods that are high in iron, find some you like and work them into your diet each day. Hopefully that will give you a boost in additon to the supplements.
You have some time between now and surgery to get that level up. Mine is two days after yours but my pre op is not until the 13th. Will be watching for your updates..

Start taking iron (and stool softeners too, as the iron is constipating) you will want your iron level nice an high before surgery. Also be aware that if your hgb drops with surgery (totally normal) that you will be extra weak, so take it easy and give yourself plenty of time to rest and heal. Good luck!

Congratulations on your date! Mine is on the 19th. Took me 5 weeks to hear back and I thought for sure it would be a NO. But I was approved and now that I have seen the letter I actually believe it. I too am happy to be posting on this site that I have learned so much from in the past several months.
