Tomorrow is 2 weeks since my procedure.  It is amazing to me how much better I feel and look in that time.  My stomach is flat.  I can wear shorter tops.  I am so very happy with everything.  I would recomemnd this highly as long as you have a good doctor.  Their is no pain at all for me.  I am still wearing the compression garment everyday and night.  2 more weeks for that.  Can't wait to get that off, getting uncomforable now but it is worth doing it. I will probably still wear it when I work out after that time for awhile because it will help with the swelling.  If anyone wants to ask me any questions I would be happy to answer them.

Helpful review?

My Doctor: David P. Rigan, MD

My rating:

The doctor explained everything to me at the consultation. He had done the procedure many times before in the area I was having done. His staff was very helpful and answered all my questions.

Glad to hear it went well! When are you planning on going back to work?
Postofficegirl 10 Oct 2008
I am planning to go back to work in about a week and a half. My job is very physical and I lift a lot of heavy things and bend hundreds of times a day to pick up bundles of mail so I am going to take a little extra time off so I can do my job fully when I get back. I am sure my stomach could not handle my job right now.

Sounds like a good idea. I remember reading your question about going back to work... better to have too much time off than not enough, right? Good luck!

update October 12: the swelling is finally going down a bit........which makes my stomach look like it did before the surgury. I still really feel good. Only pain if I bend or get up from sitting. Otherwise I really feel good. My stomach is awful looking........black and blue.......going more toward black.....glad I waiting until fall to have the surgury, I can hide my stomach while I heal. still very happy with everything.........excited to see the results. I go back to the doctor tomorrow for a recheck.

Are you taking any arnica or bromelain for the brusing and swelling? I had my surgery yesterday and it has been pretty easy. So much easier than my 2 c-sections.
Postofficegirl 15 Oct 2008
I'm not taking anything for the bruising and swelling. What is that, does it help? I agree with you it wasn't painful and I am feeling good and tomorrow will be a week. Today I actually started to see a little results. My stomach looked great in the jeans I wore today..........I was so happy. I also had 2 c-sections and nothing I did helped my stomach and beleive me I have done it all. I even ran a marathon a few years ago. Everything was in shape except my stomach, even after months and months and training. Today I felt good. I know I am still swollen and still have a ways to go but today I felt like it was worth it.

I am so glad that everything is working out for you! Im interested in having the procedure done, would you mind telling me where you got it done? Also did you have the fat suctioned out or was it left to disolve?
Postofficegirl 23 Oct 2008
I had it done in Buffalo, NY. You can click on my doctors at the top name to get all his information. I did have the fat suctioned out. I think this is what makes alot of differance. Also, the doctor told me that what couldn't be suctioned out would be absorbed and come out eventually which is why it takes up to 6 months to see the full results. Again I am very happy so far, if this was the end results I would be a satisfied customer already.

this friday i will do smartlipo in My stomach , it cost $4000, i payed, but i would like to know if this price is ok or to much pleas let me know
Postofficegirl 2 Nov 2008
I paid 2500 for my stomach. It was only one area of the stomach. I don't know how many area of the stomach you are having done. If it is only one. Before I found the doctor I used and was happy with I went to another for opinion, I would have used him but felt he didn't have much experience. He said it would have been 2800 for the same area. Like I said some people get upper and lower done which is two areas, I just got lower done...from just below my belly button to down to the bottom of my stomach.
mark4u2 3 Nov 2008

Postofficegirl 4 Nov 2008

UPdate: 4 weeks plus after proceedure. Still happy. Stopped wearing compression garment which is wonderful as far as comfort goes but do see a little swelling especially after work. I lift alot. But honestly even with the swelling, I am happy. My clothes fit better.

Someone sent me a private message but I dont' know how to answer it so I will answer it here and hope they read it. The doctor you can get info on by clicking at the top of the page on the doctor and his website will come up. I was in shape when I got this done but could do nothing with my belly area and that is why I had it done. He will evaluate you to decide if you can have smart lipo. depending of certain factors. I am still thrilled with my proceedure and would do it again in a heart beat.

what was the most painful part? Did the numbing injections hurt? What about the melting of the fat?
Postofficegirl 8 Dec 2008
It really to me wasn't that painful. I would call parts of it uncomforable. The numbing needles were a little uncomforable and the melting part was too but only when they reached an area that wasn't fully numb. Then they just numbed that area more. I have a high tolorance for pain anyway but it wasn't anything terrible. I don't think so anyway. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
