So i got implants when I was 20 (1995) after my first baby. Three years after i got them put in, I had my second child (nursing him ended after 3 months because I wasn't producing much, which was heart breaking to know that I had chosen to get bigger boobs without thought to anything else. *sigh*) and all of a sudden I could hear the saline sloshing in my breast and they were very saggy (he placed them over the muscle). I went to see a second doctor (his colleague) because my first doctor had died from cancer. He told me he would give me a Benelli lift and add more saline to my implants (surgery #2). Three months later my left breast was hanging about 4 inches lower than my right and was hard as a rock. I went back to see him and he said that he could break it up manually (which I let him attempt and it left like he was ripping my breast off) or go in and scrape the scar tissue off my implant. A week later I had the surgery (#3) to remove the scar tissue and woke up with one implant!! He accidentally popped it with his scalpel while scrapping the scar tissue!! I was hyperventilating and screaming when he came in to tell me that he would see me the following week with a new implant since he didn't have one big enough to replace the one he popped. So I had 2 surgeries within a week :( 4 months passed and my left breast was once again hard as a rock and hanging lower than my right. I went to see him, told him how unhappy I was and asked him what my options were. He basically said I needed to get new implants, and have them placed under the muscle because it would keep them from falling. He explained that once you have CC, you are most likely going to keep getting it as long as you have implants, no matter their size. Within a few months of that surgery #5 (about 12 years ago) my left breast got hard once again and I have very little sensation in it. Nursing my 3rd and 4th children was awful. I still feel so guilty that I am the reason I could not solely breast feed. Skip ahead to last year, when suddenly i was getting shooting pains through my nipples and underarms like someone was stabbing me, tingling feeling in my nipples like I was having a let down, and sometimes a feeling like they were swelling and going to explode. I saw my gyno, who sent me to have a mammogram to make sure this was implant related (it is), and then to a plastic surgeon (a different one). They both sent letters to my insurance company saying an explant was needed for health reasons, and after a few denials, I got a pre-approval for removal!!! yay!! I had my implants removed Feb. 18th. It's the best decision I ever made!! My doctor has been wonderful and caring. I feel so much better now and my posture has improved an unbelievable amount.
