I am a 50 year old women. I have 3 children and they were all delivered my c section. Since my last child was born 17 years ago I have struggled with a sagging belly. I had lost weight and gained weight. Prior to my surgery I had lost 60 lbs. I was proud of my accomplishment and I decided it was time to do something for myself. I searched the web and read reviews regarding tummy tucks and decided this is what I wanted. There were certian criteras I looked for after reading reviews. I wanted a pain pump, I did not want to stay in a hospital and i wanted to make sure my abdominal muscles would be tightened. After consulting with a few doctors, I chose Dr. Mary Lee Peters.
Then my journey began. I was just looking to do a tummy tuck when I started. As I studied my body there was other issues I would like addressed. In my first appt with Dr. Peters I asked her what she thought and what would be the best bang for my buck. I listen to what she had to say and made my own decision. At my pre op meeting I asked if there was enought time slotted and would it be too late to do a breast lift. She was very accomadating and I was able to get it all done at once. I am now 6 weeks post op. I see dramatic changes in my body. I am very pleased with my results. My recovery was pretty easy. Yes it was painful but Doc Peters uses a pain pump that I would highly recommend. Between that and the pain pills it managed my pain quite well.
My belly button gave me issues right away after surgery. I had a hernia the size of an orange and Dr. Peters had to work pretty hard to get it repaired. At three weeks post op, and because of the severity of the hernia, I had to have my belly button closed. I still have the indent and from a distance you can not tell it is closed. I looks great. I also had some seperation of the skin under one of my breast that got infected. This is very common and Dr. Peters was not the least but worried about it once the infection was gone so I did not have to worry about it. She was very reassuring and told me it was very common. It is starting to heal but will take some time.
I am not ready for a bikini but I will tell you I an so much more comfortable in the way i look and feel. I'm excited to start exercising and lose more weight. I have about 40 more lbs to lose. I am excited my my new journey in life and the things I can not do with my children. I see parasailing and zip-lining in my furure. Something I thought I would never be able to do because of weight issues. I am so much more confidient in myself and I want to thank Dr. Peters for that.
