I am a 41 year old mom of 4. I have an 11 year old, 7 year old twins and a 5 1/2 year old. I'm 5'6" and have always (Except when pregnant) weighed between 120 & 140 lbs. I am at 130 now. I'm pretty much content with my weight. I prefer 125 but 130 is ok. I year ago I got down to 120 and everything started to sag, so I don't want to go belwo that. My first child I had vaginal and got no strech marks and loose skin. The twins I also had vaginal and got a little sagging and loose skin but not too bad. My 4th child I had by c-section and now I have a lot of loose skin and an "apron" that hangs over the c-section scar.

I am nervous about having the surgery but I hate the way it looks now. I know that loosing weight will not make it go away so this is the only option. I'm nervous because some of the pictures I've seen end up with really weird looking belly buttons. All the ones my Dr. showed me that he has done look natural so that's a good sign.

I am printing pictures of belly buttons I like to show my doctor on my pre-op appt. on Oct. 31.

I'm trying to read and prepare myself. I've been wanting to do this for several years now but I can't believe I'm doing it in 24 days! I'm excited and nervous!

I'll try to post some before pics in the next few days. :)

My pre-op visit is scheduled for tomorrow. I'm a little nervous. I don't feel like I even know what questions to ask. The hospital called my on Friday and had me mixed up with another patient. Then, they asked for me to go ahead and pay over the phone. I told them I would wait until I got there. Then, the nurse from my doctor's office called me at 4:45 and told me they wanted to make sure I knew that they didn't take checks and I should bring cash. This was the first time this was mentioned. I find it odd because my surgery is not until the 10th. I would think the check would have cleared by then. I had intended to get a cashier's check from my bank but she said they won't take it. I think I'm going to pay with my credit card now even though they charge 3%. It just feels weird to me to go in the doctor's office with a wad of cash. I don't know if I should say anything but it makes me feel weird.

I went in for my pre-op on Mon. Oct. 31 and it made me feel a lot better. first, I met with my doctor who was really nice and supportive and told me that he wasn't nervous at all about my surgery, that it would be an easy one for him. He was very nice and reassuring. then, I went to the hospital to do my per-op and they were really nice, I got to meet and talk to then anesthesiologist and he was very nice and reassuring, also. the nurse that did all my labwork etc. was very nice and said that Dr. Suber was wonderful and he operated there every Thursday and sometimes on Fridays, plus he operated at another hospital too. He's been doing it about 14 years I think so, he should do great. I liked all the pictures they showed me from past surgeries but who would show you ones that weren"t good. :) I'm actually feeling pretty relaxed about it now. It helps that my mom just committed to coming Wed-Sun and I have a babysitter, Mon-Fri the next week that will pick up the kids from school and bring them home, feed them and get them into bed before she leaves. My husband works long hours and so it's hard to count on him being there.

I went yesterday and filled my prescriptions and got my shapers. My docotor said he will pur me in a binder serger the surgery and I will wear that for 2 or 3 weeks then switch over to a body shaper that he recommends brcuase they are cheaper and work as well as the ones made for plastic surgery. He recommended the flexees style 3915 or 3939(which I found was discontinued). I bought one of the 3915 in my regular size and it almost killed me trying to get it on. I'm thinking I may need to go up a size but I' m not sure since he said this was for a few weeks after surgery maybe it'll work in my normal size then. I also bought two pairs of drawstring cotton pants in a larger size. I didn't know what to do about shirts. I think I might just wear some of my husbands t-shirts.

I finally looked at my new tummy last night. I had one drain removed and finally got to take a real shower. Yeah! I will update more of my experience later today. Just wanted to put the pictures on from this computer.

I didn't post much for my first week post op, so I though I'd add a few of my details here. The surgery went well and I didn't seem to have too much pain, just uncomfortable with the binder and the drains. I took Lortabs and muscle relaxers for the first 3 days and then I switched over to Extra strength Tylenol. I do pretty well during the days but nights are hard, because I have a hard time sleeping. I did a post-op visit the day after my surgery and my ps changed the dressing and checked every thing. I went back for another check on Wed. Nov. 16th and he took out one drain and took off the horrible binder that was wrapped around me one and a half times and all bunched up. He put on the Cupid "waist cinching brief" I bought from Wal-mart for $11.94. He said it was better than the flexees that from Kohls and wanted the tag to recommend to his other patients. I'm feeling much better now and hoping that he takes the other drain out at my next appointment on Monday, Nov.21st.

I had a hard time at first with all the drains and the yuck factor of the surgery and I didn't even have the courage to look until after my ps had changed my binder and and finally let me take a real shower. At first, I was a little upset at how long my incision was and not sure how it was going to look, but now I'm feeling better and better about it everyday. I'm glad I did it and I think once it's all healed, I'm going to be very happy with it.

Yesterday I went for a check up with my ps. He said sinceI was so nice and brought him the tag for the binder I bought at Wal-mart, so could recommend it, he wouldntake out my last drain. Lol. It feels so good to be free of all that! Even with loose clothes on, I can tell such a difference in my shape now. Today, I have on jeans!!! (with my "girdle" on underneath of course). It is feeling so good to have normal clothes on again. He also took some sutures out of my belly button. He had told me that all the stiching would be on the inside and dissolvable and only glue on then outside, but there are a few sutures here and there poking out of my incision and I guess some were tucked in my belly button. He said they were all dissolveable and he didn't have to take the ones out of my belly button, but he did anyway to speed up the healing process. So far, I'm very pleased with the results. The only thing I didn't like was that my incision goes almost around to my back on both sides and I didn't expect it to be that long. I think it will be hidden in anything I would wear. Now, I am focusing on taking care of the incision and doing everything I can to help it heal well and minimize the scar. I'll try to take some updated pictured later today.

Hello and welcome to the tummy tuckers.

I am happy you joined us and so glad you are sharing your journey with all of us.  November 10th is going to come so quickly and soon you will be enjoying the new tummy.

It's amazing how awesome you feel having a flat tummy.  There are several different shapes and sizes of belly buttons and no one is alike.  There are women who keep marbles, cotton balls and other objects in their belly button while they are healing; just to keep the shape nice.  I never tried any of that but they say it helps.

Good for you in doing this for yourself:)  You deserve it!

I look forward to following your journey and seeing your pictures.  Keep posting and let us know how you are doing.

Thanks, Kimmers25, That's an interesting idea of putting an object in the belly button while it heals. I had one doctor tell me he makes them inverted teardrop shaped but the dr. I chose didn't seem to have a "preferred" shape. I guess having a flat tummy will make such a difference that belly button won't matter too much. :)

My surgery is also scheduled for Nov. 10th. It is just around the corner for both of us... Keep us updated.

Cool! we can share surgery stories and healing milestones. :)

My tummy tuck is scheduled for 2 weeks from today, Nov. 2 &I am so excited! Lost 70 pounds in the last year & at 63, I'm working on my granny makeover. Had a breast lift & arm lift 12 weeks ago & did great. I live outside Charlotte, NC, but my surgeon is Dr. Emerson at Southeastern Plastoc Surgery in nearby Gastonia.
dmdobbins98 20 Oct 2011
Good Luck on yours!! Cool to hear from someone somewhat nearby!

Meant to write back sooner, but we had a long weekend in Beaufort, SC as a combination family reunion/98th birthday celebration for my dad in his hometown. Now I'm back & getting more & more excited. On Monday I got the results from last month's MRI & learned I need a reverse shoulder replacement, scheduled for December 14. Yesterday was my pre-op for TT next Wednesday & I'm ready to go. I am more anxious about shoulder surgery recuperation, maybe because I kind of know what to expect on surgery day after the last one. I started a review yesterday, but this whole site thing is new to me so don't know where it is exactly. Keep me posted on your progress & I'll do the same

That would concern me, too. Only cash or credit card and YOU pay the merchant's credit card fee??? Somethhing doesn't sound right here. By the way, before I sold my business last year, my credit card fees were less than 3% & I thought the laws had changed in favor of the merchant this year. Did you check out other PSs? Do you know anyone who has used this doc before?I think if I were in your place I would at least call another office & inquire as to their payment practices. Something just doesn't sound right here. I just cannot imagine a doctor preferring cash. Don't let the short time until your procedure lock you in with the wrong doctor. Let us know what happens-maybe others have had your experience.
JoBibbi 30 Oct 2011
I think you're smart to pay with a credit card. Good luck with your preop. I'm having my procedure done on 11-18 my and I would appreciate if you would keep us updated during and after your procedure.

Pottery Granny, good luck with both your surgeries!! I'm sure it'll go great. In regards to my PS, I consulted with 3 before choosing Dr. Suber. Almost all of the reviews I found on him online were great & he is very nice to talk with. One of the reasons that I chose him was that he does all of his surgeries in the hospital and he is very big on safety. I'm sure all doctors are and he even said that he doesn't have a problem with other doctors that use their office ORs but he prefers being in the hospital. For me, since I have not been under GA before I was scared to go under for 3-4 hours in a doctor's office. I like knowing that if there's a problem, I'm already at the hospital.

It is weird about the cash thing though. My husband & I own an HVAC business & we prefer cards & checks, so there' s less worries about the techs or someone making deposits being robbed. We don't charge the credit processing fees either and a lot of the jobs we do are in the same price range as my surgery. I'm hoping I'll feel better after I talk to him again tomorrow. I hate to travel for the surgery but I'm really not comfortable doing it in a doctors office, so we'll see.

JoBibbi, Thanks, I'll keep you updated. Good luck with yours on the 18th!

Sorry if I over-reacted! Just sounded funny, that's all. I am charging mine because I want the $50 cash-back points. If they had asked for cash, don't know what I'd have done, since I like my doctor too. I'll be thinking about you as your surgery approaches. BTW - how did you post your pix?
dmdobbins98 31 Oct 2011
No, I thought it sounded funny too, that's why I posted about it. I guess when I thought through everything else being good, not's not such a big deal just a little odd.

To post the pics, just click update on your review, then scroll down past the part to type in more comments and their should be an add pictures section. :)

I'm looking online now for any additional questions I need to ask at my pre-op in 1 1/2 hours. So nervous! My mom said you know you want to do it so just do what feels best to you, you can always do it later. I think I'm just nervous.
Pottery Granny 31 Oct 2011
Don't worry too much about questions. I only asked if he'd be doing liposuction. You might ask if you need to purchase any compression garment. After breast lift, I needed sports bras with front hooks & wasn't told uentil the day after. Fortunately, I had researched on line & already gotten them, 'cause i dont think hubby could have selected. Just relax-they know what they're doing!

Welcome dmdobbins98! I go for my pre-op on Nov.15th and my PS also prefers cash, but he will take a credit card. I had to pay a deposit in order to schedule my TT and I'll have to pay remaining balance at my pre-op, which will be in cash. I know, I was thinking the same thing-about walking in with a wad of cash (kinda weird), but if its going to get me a flat tummy, then I'm gonna go for it!!;-)
dmdobbins98 30 Oct 2011
Stephanielpn, I feel the same way. Glad to know mine isn't the only one out there asking for cash. :)

Over sized T-Shirts work well.  Also any larger zip up hoodies.

dmdobbins98 5 Nov 2011
Thanks, Kimmers, I get one or two those,

Hi, I too am looking into a TT and I am from Greenville. Who is doing your surgery?
dmdobbins98 5 Nov 2011
Dr. Suber, foothills plastic surgery is my doctor. I consulted with 3 in the area and liked all of them. I really liked that he does his operations in a hospital, not an operating room in his office and he uses an Anesthesiologist, not a nurse. There's nothing wrong with the other, but I prefer the added safety. He does a lot of surgery on patients who have had gastric bypass and may have health issues, so that may be one reason that he chides to use the hospital. So far, he's been very kind and helpful to me. I'll let you know how everything goes! :)

Hi! I'm going in on Monday for my TT...just wanted to tag your page so I could follow your progress! I'm super excited and not sure I'll sleep the next two nights. Guess I'll get plenty of rest on the flatter side! Good luck to you!
Pottery Granny 5 Nov 2011
Good luck sdc4sc. I know you'll do.great- I haven't found it to be too bad.about the same as arm lift/breast lift. Suggest you stay in the drug fog for 2-3 days, drinking lots of water & walking a little every hour or 2. That first shower is like heaven! Pee every time your drains are emptied. Taking a couple of gas-x pills can help relieve the tightness. also, after reading all the poopy distress on here, & not being real regular myself, I took 2 colace the night before, 2 the night of, 2 po1, 3 po2 & tonight (po3), it only took a couple of prunes (they make orange ones) to solve that problem before it really was one.
dmdobbins98 5 Nov 2011
Thanks! You, too! I'll be watching for your progress! :)

Good luck with your TT this week! Sending you wishes for a speedy recovery. Mine will be soon after yours on the 14th. Thanks for the info on the shaper you got, I want to find one this week.

Thanks! You'll be one week after me! Hope all goes well for you.
