Attended Kaiser BR class

I attended the Kaiser BR class yesterday. We watched a DVD that explained the procedure and had stories of actual patients. I had already learned so much from everyone on the site that there weren't any surprises.

Kaiser has the following requirements:
-Non-smoker (for 3 months)
-You must be a D or larger
-Have 400 removed from largest breast
-BMI of 30 or less

My BMI is 36.
My BMI was around 20 until I was in a car accident 3 years ago. I was a competitive and semi pro roller skater that was in the gym everyday. (I would wear sometimes 3 sports bras for my Zumba classes.) I was hit by a teenage driver that ran a light. I was leaving my morning Zumba class. They had to cut off my 3 very expensive sports bras when I arrived at the trauma center. Lol. So glad I was unconscious for that embarrassment!

The total inactivity and steroids for my back injury helped me gain 100 pounds over 2 years. I became vegan 1 year ago and immediately lost 30 pounds.

I've been cleared to finally return to skating and normal workouts (geez after 3 long years!). Now I've given myself 2 months to lose 40 so that Kaiser will schedule my surgery consult. Once you do that apparently everything moves very quickly.

The physicians assistant that led the class said that BR patients have to be off supplements, aspirin, ibuprofen etc. 10 days prior to surgery. But it was suggested that if your schedule is flexible you can get called if there is a surgery cancellation. But you have to be off meds for 10 days and be ready.

Your 1st surgical bra is provided by Kaiser and you can purchase more from their pharmacy. Their BR surgeries are done outpatient by their board certified plastic surgeons.

I'm gonna be counting everything that goes in my mouth and working my a$$ off to get to that magic 30 BMI.

Btw, the reason that Kaiser requires a below "Obese" BMI is that there is much less risk of post operative complications and markedly better healing. Also, for body image/psychological reasons. BR patients that have smaller breasts without losing a bigger belly and underarm fat will feel very disproportionate.

I will post pictures soon to documents my DD girls and weight loss.

I have been wanting this surgery for the past 10...

I have been wanting this surgery for the past 10 years. I've always had large breasts, and liked it, but the too large areola and heaviness I am done with.

I am with Kaiser and have been referred to their prerequisite two hour class before I have my surgical consult. Attending the class tomorrow, hopefully I can be scheduled soon!
