Well, I am 24 years old, 5'4 and currently weigh 156lbs. In the last couple years I have put on about 50 lbs(lowest was at 120-highest at 176). I have tried every diet out there, got a gym membership, even bought an eliptical for my house and have only lost about 20 of those lbs.
I thought smartlipo would be a good way to jump start the rest of my weight loss by eliminating the trouble areas. I am getting my upper & lower abs, love handles, bra roll, and banana roll done.
I will post before pictures now, and after pics on the 24th. Keep your fingers crossed for me, I am super nervous.

Today I got my upper and lower abs and love handles done.. I have to make another appointment to get my bra roll done in about a month or so..
I got to the office at 10:30, and they took me back to a room were I met the Dr. He took my blood presure, BMI, and did the markings with a sharpie marker. After that I took the vicodin and ativan, and sat in a consultation room for about 30 mins to let the meds kick in.
I got taken into the surgery room at 11:25 and we started right away. I took the antibiotics then laid down on the bed. My dr got the lidocane solution and needle hooked up and started filling me up.
The first prick wasnt too bad, but as soon as the solution was injected it tingled a little bit then started to burn. After the initial prick I got used to the feeling of the liquid filling my body. It felt like alot of presure with a slight buring sensation. We got through my entire stomach (which now looked like a beach ball as stuffed inside me!) with no problem. As soon as he finished my lower abs he moved right along to my upper abs. This part hurt the worst. It felt like he was jabbing my ribs and it stung like crazy. After about 20 mins of this it was time to move on to the incisions & laser.
This was the easy part... He made about 5 incisions on my stomach. I couldnt feel a thing! Now he started with the laser. He inserted the laser into each incision and did quick up and down motions for quite some time. I could only feel little zaps here and there, mainly around my ribs and hips. Not bad at all...
Now comes the suction... I didnt like this step at all !! As the lidocane solution got sucked out I started feeling more and more. It was vibrating pretty hard and he had to apply alot of pressure. It hurt around the ribs and hip area again. It felt like my bones were vibrating too. I could feel the tension of the fat against the cannula. This part took a while. Some parts I had to have him stop and add more lidocane because it hurt too much.
After he finished sucking most of the liquid out, he moved onto the sculpting cannula. This tool is smaller then the one he was using before and he said it was to perfect the area. It felt the same as the one before. But i got through it and it was time to do the same steps all over again for my love handles...
So.. He added the solution to each of my sides, once I was numb he made two incisions on each side, lasered, suctioned and sculpted same as described above.
All Done around 2:30...
Once he was finised, he left the room pretty quickly. I was left with the medical assistant, she took good care of me.
I sat up for a few mins. The once I felt well enough to stand she started "milking", as they call it, my incisions. I was leaking fluid like crazy!! it was litterally pouring out of me. Once we finished that, she helped me get bandaged up & dressed and got me a wheelchair to help me out to my car.
During the car ride home I was still leaking a ton, I soaked through the pads and the towel & blanket I was sitting on.. yuck!
I got sick before I even made it home, but i think it was from the meds. I felt really dizzy and nauseous. I was also shaking uncontolably, I think my body started going into shock.
Once I got home i changed my pads and clothes and laid down.. standing was really painfull and made me dizzy. Once I ate I felt alot better.
I had to get up to put on my compression garment. This was awful. Standing makes me feel sick, and my skin hurts like touching a really bad bruise, even to the slightest touch. But I got used to the pressure in a few mins.
Now I am sitting/laying writing this, so I am doing ok.
My results are amazing so far ! I can really see a huge difference in the shape of my body. I wasnt expecting this dramatic of a result.
This procedure is definatly not pain free, but i think it was worth it.
I will post the before and after pictures. And I will update in a few days...
I hope this helped any one considering getting it done!

I feel so much better then yesterday. I am pretty sore, but once I get in a comfortable position or get up and start moving around I am ok. I have to make sure not to twist or stretch too much because it feelings like my stomach is ripping.
Draining has stopped for the most part.
I am scheduled to go in this friday to get my last area done (bra roll). I am not to excited about this because I am pretty sure I will still be sore. Laying on my stomach for this second procedure 4 days after my first does not sound like too much fun.
But so far so good.. I havent noticed too much swelling or bruising. and I am down 1 lb from the day of surgery.
Its been 11 days since my first procedure and 7...

First 3 areas ( upper and lower abs & hips) are finally feeling better. The incisions are healing nicely, and no real swelling happened.
Second 2 areas (back bra roll, and banana roll) are still sore. This procedure cause me lots of swelling and bruising. I am still draining alot from my left thigh.
Results are good though! I am very pleased. But if I could do it all over again I would have waited longer then 4 days to go back for a second procedure.
I will post more pics soon !

Not too much of a change in how I am feeling. But I have grown to love my spanx. It is so much more comfortable wearing it. I'm down 3 lbs so far , but I've been eating awful , and Havnt gotten back to exercising . Gotta start back on a diet and work out plan asap !
I can see a huge difference in my love handles , but my tummy isn't as noticeable. I have started to get this weird ,hard ridge on the lower part of my abs.like where my pants sit .. Is this normal ? will it go away ?
I am also posting more updated pics today !

My results are noticeable , but not as good as the few days following the procedure.
Oh... And I saw Dr.borges at physicians skin and weight center. He did a good job

My rating:
were you able to go to work after 2-3 days or were you bedridden?Do you have lumps?
I consider myself as having a pretty high pain tolerence, and this hurt me.
As for the reason why.... I do not know...
Due to previous experience with Vicodin and nausea, I asked for anti-nausea medicine prior to the procedure. They gave it to me and I didn't get sick at all. Maybe ask them for some for your next procedure!
Pain during and after the procedure was not bad for me (I am sore and stiff today but not bad). But like you mention, the leakage, OMG, I was seriously not prepared for that level of nastiness lol. I had read about it, but didn't realize how it would be. For me that was the worst part. We'll see how the next surgery goes!
Good luck!
Its probably a good thing that your waiting weeks in between your procedures. I only waited 4 days, and was in alot of pain. But i figured I should just get it all out of the way at once.
My results so far are good! I am not sure how much fdat they took out, but I can see a huge difference for sure.
My stomach looked better right after surgery, it looked smaller and tighter. probably from being filled with the fluid or something.
But its still a huge improvment.
Hope your feeling better ! and good luck with your next session!
Oh.. who was your DR? I was originally scheduled with dr. menon. but when i got the reminder call, they said it was with dr.borges. I ended up keeping the appointment with him, and I dont regret it. But it was a little shady to switch it on you last minute.
I go in on friday to get my last area done (bra roll). I have no idea how that is going to work because I am guessing I will still be in pain. Not looking forward to laying on my stomach..
How long did it take for you to start feeling better?
Any other adivce to help the healing process?
Who was your Dr ? And how are your results coming along ?
Thanks for the update. You look great!
Welcome to RealSelf, Dana! Good luck with your surgery next week. :)
