Not Worth It
Spent: $4,000 in Atlanta, Georgia

Can not breathe threw right nostril. Barely any air coming threw when I blow out. Even inside on top feels different. Like the cartilage is a lump.

Im even concern when the swollen is completely down I will not be satisfied with the results. My right nostril looks weird to me. Like it goes in to much.

What do you think? Once the left side goes down will my nose look pinched?

I had a Rhinoplasty, now I can't breathe through my right nostril. It also looks weird. What do you think has happened? Is it normal? Or is it going to stay permanent?

I posted my question 27 months ago and as I suspected my right nostril did collapsed. One year after my surgery I had a revision done (by a different doctor). He corrected my right nostril but after some time I developed a little scar tissue bump on the right nostril that looked as if I had a permanent pimple. Also, every time I took in a deep breath my right nostril would still collapse in a slit that almost would close. My left nostril would not move at all. The appearance of my nose looked better though. This drove me crazy so me and my surgeon decided to do another revision. So, here we are again...Im two weeks post-op and Im having the same problems. This surgeon used a cartilage graft to supposedly stop the right nostril from collapsing. Im starting to think it didn't work or he didn't do something right. It still collapses when I take a deep breath. My nostrils are also very asymmetrical. Now, if you are going to post comments about how Im still swollen blah blah I don't want to hear it! I think you often do this to try to keep people calm. 90% of the time most the people that are concerned with a problem are RIGHT. I understand Im swollen, but my nostril should not be collapsing. Unless my nostril is going to in a few weeks think it on steroids and get stronger! yeah right! So, I guess my question is what can I do??? how can I get my nostrils to be more symmetrical. (and I know everyone has asymmetrical nostrils) but come on guys my nostrils look really funny. This has been my third surgery on my nose and I getting very discouraged.

I think I may have responded to your question here: http://www.realself.com/question/breathing-problem-uneven-nostrils-rhinoplasty Let me know, though, if this was not your question. All the best, --DCP

I would recommend you see and speak with your surgeon. Many factors contribute to pos-operative changes including swelling both inside and outside, what procedure was performed (open vs closed) and the extent of the procedure as well as your anatomy prior. Healing does take some time as well. I am sure your surgeon will address all your concerns, so make sure you ask him/her a detailed explanation as well as what changes/improvements you can expect in the future. Good luck! JPC

I would look for a different surgeon who specializes in revisions. I've heard of some really good ones (and have seen pictures of people with very successful outcomes who claimed to be happy with their final results), so I believe it's possible to fix your issues. It's unfortunate that it will take possibly 4 surgeries to finally get it right, but those things happen sometimes. Good luck and I hope you find a way to resolve your issues!
