Thanks to this site, I feel in control of possible outcomes and demands/needs of body prior and after. I am to have pain pump for TT. Dr. says he will remove 500 to 600 grams, cc's? out of each side. I had one C section and feel comfortable with length of possible healing for scars, fluids. Most concerned about 5 hour surgery length and TT tubing complications like infection, but super excited to finally do this! Hiking is my main exercise (live by Tahoe) but I used to love running until I got big boobs .

Hi, let's share ideas. I'm going in this month
August 15, 2015
Did you have to lose weight? I'm getting the same procedures done

Hi! When do you have your procedure? I have not been asked to lose weight for this procedure, by the way -- is that common? Do you have to?
August 16, 2015
I contacted one Dr. y'day and he said I should lose weight first. I thought that was weird.
Who are you going with? I'm still looking for for Dr.

If you are going to have this done this month, how much weight can you lose?
August 16, 2015
Exactly.
My US doctor did not but one that I started considering in DR suggested that. I weigh 174lbs now, started a liquid diet today, and I'm supposed to get this done if I'm going with the U.S. Doctor on the same day as yours

Hello, how are you preparing for your surgery tomorrow. Just wanted to wish you best of luck. Mine is on Monday

My surgery is Monday too, bright and early! I am so jittery -- different dreams at night about surgery too!
August 22, 2015
Take it easy. This is selective surgery and pretty safe in the U.S. I'm going in the afternoon. Let's pray all goes well. After care and the recovery process is my major concern., more than the procedure itself. Make sure you walk around a lot to prevent blood clots and don't eat heavy food.
I'm staying overnight at the hospital but I'm also trying to see if it's even worth it. In hospitals you can't sleep because of all the vitals they have to take.
I would love to spend the 1st three days in the hospital and stay on morphine or strong pain killers . At least stay there till I get the drains removed and enjoy some initial help . I heard those drains are very inconvenient.
Let's compare notes post op. I'll pray for you, you do the same for me.
We can exchange phone nos. if you like. It will be nice to have someone to talk to during those stay at home recovery period.
Good luck!

I decided to have it done in the U.S. I love the DR results and aftercare assistance but couldn't take that risk.
It's also interesting to note that there isn't much difference in the pricing here & there. The recovery house would have made

the only difference

It's Not Too Late at 56!

So far, the only thing upsetting me is that I have to have a catheter inserted, hopefully when I am in anesthesia land. So much anesthesia can put the bladder to sleep and cause a lot of distress if one needs to urinate, so for safety, a catheter is used. Everything else is great! The doctor and nurse are very experienced and compassionate. I hope to go from DDD to a B. I am having lipo work on flanks, hips and back (a little) and arm areas, too so I already purchased the Arnica cream for the bruising. I purchased at Walmart, a car cup holder/caddy for my days and nights of healing in bed. In it, I can put remote, tea/coffee/smartwater, phone, pills, polysporin, cough drops, lotion, reading glasses, Kleenex, and a cowbell. Cowbell calls my peeps to come to my rescue, at my whim he he. Library is great for free magazines plus, I checked out about 10 more magazines and 6 books. Hopefully the 2 cotton fruit-of-the-loom front fastening bras will fit...they are 38 and that is my current size around...I expect to swell. They were 2/$11! I also purchased a L, 12 x 4 panel, 9" compression binder for the tummy from FLA. I was told that I would wear it at all times day and night for 6 weeks! That was about $35. I work from home office, so I can also use my laptop and kindle on the side table for work. Hah! And I have a sewing project and several sketchpads with ideas for art. Sorry I don't own my before pics yet; I was told they will be provided after the surgery about 2 weeks later when I meet with the Dr.

From a DDD to s B cup? Would that not make it not look too drastically small? I'm going for a C
User Avatar

It seems drastic to me too! But! I did tell Dr. to use his discretion, as he has a very good aesthetic eye for proportion. I really have no idea what a B would look like at this point!
August 23, 2015
if insurance is paying for this, you have restrictions, if it's self pay, the Dr. can give you what you want. Did you have to be on a 7day liquid diet?
User Avatar
August 23, 2015
Are you from outside the US? It sounds like your experience is very different from mine. No restrictions from insurance and no liquid diet. A liquid diet could be helpful if you have pre-existing conditions like diabetes 2, I am thinking?
August 23, 2015
I'm in the U.S. I think the liquid diet softens the area or helps to avoid constipation I don't know. Even I was told to use laxatives 3 nights pre. The insurance uses a scale or they will not cover it. They measure your body mass area based on weight and height and come up with some numbers. It would have left me with nothing good thing I saw it.
My doctor is doing a style of breast reduction that leaves no scar under. It's called the Lejour breast lift. I guess that's supposed to leave you full and perky. I will not like yo be flat chested at all. So that has been an issue. I'm getting breast reduction, lipo of the thigh and tt. The tt comes with lipo of the flanks too. The curves are nice but I don't want a breast result that will look like a mastectomy.

OMG! This was a big deal, but I know it is worth it!

Monday 24th, operation. 5 hours under anesthesiology. Lost 510 (grams, cc's) in one breast and 570 in the other. TT was extensive with flank lipo; upper arm lipo accompanies the BR. Renown S Meadow Hospital in S. Reno was amazing -- great teamwork with Dr. Dahan. Recommend tubing to those who have this much taken away from body cavities, as they will fill and they need to drain; tubes really help the pain. I did barf upon being fed saltines and orange juice. The instant my stomach got OJ, it was all she wrote, so don't drink anything after surgery unless it is tea or water!
I could tell, post op, immediately that Dr. Dahan understood what i wanted and he followed through brilliantly! Boobs are the easy part of this mommy makeover. Know it, and get through it the first two weeks! You will be in a haze for the first week, thankfully and then the second you will deal with the odd feeling of healing - pain, itching, constantly going pee and drinking healthy fluids. All magazines and books were set aside because my eyes couldn't focus on anything close up anyhow -- the surgery changes your whole bodies' modus operandi due to the trauma of surgery and the anesthesiology etc to wear off.
First, my grown kids actually took excellent care of my wounds and my needs for meds, walking, eating, and maintaining a clean home. God bless them. Second, please get toilet seat augment device that you put over your toilet -- you will need this and be thankful the first 4 or so days post op. Second, have a walker with a seat to use the first week. Also, laxatives were more important to me than just about anything -- for me, miralax is too gentle -- first night post op, please use 3 little bis-coidyl tablets along with having at least one serving of mil of magnesia during the day hours. I cannot tell you what a struggle my first bowel movement was without invoking images of Discovery Channel mixed with Scream 4 audio! Of course i exaggerate, but you do not want constipation with the TT. Not. No. Nyet. You do not want to have to push.
Also, recommend stocking up on these foods: Greek yoghurt, almonds, dried berries, Smart Water constant and cold, hot ginger tea made with fresh ginger that is boiled into tea for 15 minutes, along with camomille in the evening. Avoid salty at all costs -- immediate swelling will occur. Just keep electrolytes balanced and eat fresh carrots, apples, grapes. Also!!! Sugar free tart fruit flavored popsicles. The best! Sally, nurse at Dr. Dahan's office, recommended reading Wheat Belly diet before surgery and boy is that a smart way to recover from this, thank you Nurse Sally!!!
Bra -- this was a real issue. I was a 40 DDD. What the heck kind of holster do I get for the healing days? If you go into surgery a 40, you will come out a 40 -- so I discovered that a non-cup, front zip type of yoga bra that is made of non-cotton, wicking type of material.
Surgical Tape Allergy -- wow, did I not know I was allergic until this operation. Hives everywhere the tape was. If this is a concern, i can tell you that itching will be worse than any pain you have, so have benedryl cream/gel on board, nearby and take benedryl. I took 6 benedryl on a bad day, and it really helped me to deal. And it didn't make me sleepy due to all the histamines at the tape regions of my skin and the healing sights where cutting was done because all of the anti-histamine in Benedryl went to those sites and helped! Amazing. Also, a reaction of Percocet is itchiness, and i think it played into the over all discomfort. I am sensitive to drugs. I only mediated with Tylenol for pain from then on...sad clown.
Emotional etc. We moms, we are tough! We got coping skills for this. But what is hard is asking for help when we need it. Ask. You need it. Be as non-judgmental about your breasts and tummy as possible these first two weeks; everything is swollen. Also, after two weeks I felt very wakeful mentally and did not sleep well at night. And napping is not needed any long.
One more really helpful things -- I am a hiker and love to day hike so I have a lot of CamelBak equipment on hand. If you can have one of these pouches and keep it filled with cold Smart Waters, right next to the bed, where you are perched, it was a God Send! Anytime in my sleep, I'd just pull the tubing over and bite down the the mouthpiece for an instant relief to Cotton Mouth.
