I had considered having this done for many years...

J from Ipswich
WORTH IT$1,200

I had considered having this done for many years but never had the courage. I am 52 and had heavy hooding of my right eye and slight hooding of my left. My surgeon offered me the option of having it done under local aneasthetic which saved approx $2,000. After the initial injections around the eye area which were painful but quick, I did not feel a thing. The surgeon made the incisions from the inside corner of my eyes right out into my crows feet.It took less than an hour and I was able to go home straight away.

I went back a week later for a checkup and everything was good. Not much bruising although swelling under my eyes which has still not gone completely.

Four weeks later the scars are still quite red but I can cover them up with makeup.

Absolutely love the difference it has made and can't wait to see the effects in coming months when the swelling has completely gone. I would highly recommend having it done.

You are a brave woman indeed!! Do you have any "before" pics? It looks like you are going to have really good results!! I think I would be too afraid to do it "awake" though. I'd probably jump or something and get my eye poked out!! Congrats!! Looks like he did a good job!

Thanks tabithanash. Once the injections had been done it wasn't too bad and if I had to do it again it would be local aneasthetic. It's hard to find a before photo as I avoided having my picture taken but will upload one soon as well as a recent one.

how long before the swelling went down? I did it awake as well...it was no problem at all with the sedative.

You were luck to have a sedative. It wasn't offered to me. I did take a valium an hour beforehand but can't say it had much affect. I was still terrified!
The slight swelling under the eyes took about 2 months to go completely. It wasn't too noticeable though. The swelling above the eyes also took about 2 months to settle down but even now, nearly 4 months later, I am still seeing improvements. The scars are very faint now and in the eye creases. I am absolutely over the moon with the results and every morning when I get out of bed I still check my eyes in the mirror and love the absence of the droopy eyelids.

Jill, Sorry to hear the post op eye surgery wasn't successful esthetically. I found a specialist in face, and eyes only as you might have read in my post. I believe it's best to only choose a specialist for surgery you are having on your face. The reasons are what your experiencing, now post op. The mistakes are too expensive, sometimes not reversible and most of all can change your image forever to worse, when your initial goal was to look better. The residual results of either positive or negative can take some time to settle in as swelling goes down. I have under my left eye very slight skin with slight bumpiness, but no one see's this but me. Dr. Wulc as I mentioned is a board certified Ophthalmologist and facial plastic surgeon. He did a lower lid lift only and did it from the inside of my lid. The previous lower lid technique was done from outside near the eyelashes, cuts are made lifting the skin up,suturing outside. For some reason on my left eye some of the healing process left a little extra puffiness with some white bumps, but it's really not noticeable,it's really so minimal. I was going back to him to correct this but I have to wait a long time to see him and he has to submit it to my insurance for coverage. I really didn't think it was worth the aggravation since many people said they can't see it. He is honest and really good a correcting other doctors mistakes as I had met a person he corrected an eyebrow lift mistake from another plastic surgeon. Call him and get his opinion,if your doctor screwed up get his evaluation in writing and you might be able to get it covered by insurance since now the other doctor made a mistake and you don't look the same. I would also advise you to contact an attorney or call your local court to see if you can file a small claims law suit. It's not expensive, maybe $100 and get some satisfaction for his mistake. You will have proof from another expert, maybe get two opinions. Then go back to Dr. Wulc and get it corrected to match the other eye. These doctors shouldn't get away with not understanding how much to remove. Dr. Wulc told me he couldn't do an upper lid on me since I had one in my late 20's already,it would result in my not being able to close my yes. He said an eye brow lift would bring the same results and would look great and help me look more youthful. I do believe this took some wrinkles off my forehead as well as opening my eyes. So he really knows what he's doing. Here is his telephone number and tell him Karen sent you, his patient who blogs on Real self, he knows I do this to help other women. His phone number is 610-828-8880 his web is wcosmeticsurgery.com.
