Spent: $8,600 in Pittsburgh, PA
Soooo the time is almost here. I'm very nervous. More scared than excited for sure. Any advice on how to get the scary thoughts out of my head???
I'm a mother of 2, and while I only gained 40lbs with both prg, I carried all 40 lbs in my tummy. In turn I was left with what I like to call a disformation. My stomach is terrible. I work out 3 times a week and eat pretty good...everything on me is OK expect the Tummy area. I know that I'm going to be so happy with the results, I just wish it were May and i good jump over these next 2 months!!!

OK>getting a little more excited than scared at this point. I must say, I'll ask anybody for reassurance. I'm starting to get concerned for the after care, but I think I can handle it.... I think :) Any good words on not being nervous about the anesthesia???

Today was the pre-op!!! All the fears are slowly fading. Looking forward to the results. Started taking a lot of Vitamen C the past couple days - any other suggestions? I am trying to stock up on food that will promote healing, etc. Thanks! 13 days!!

5 more days for me!! I have a questions about lifting my youngest daughter. She'll be 2 in June, but still requires a little lifting in and out of cars, etc. My husband will be doing everything at home for 6 weeks as far as lifting her, etc, but I will have to pick her up from daycare at night. Any suggestions on the car seat, etc? Will I be OK to get her in and out???

Day 1 Post Op- Pain is tolerable. Yesterday was NO fun.. but let me tell ya - my tummy is flat and I have 0 flanks!!! So that alone is making this all worth it. I do have a concern with my wheezing. Its hard to cough, but i'm suppose to to help prevent fluid in lungs!! I'm also hypo, so I worry about everything. So far so good though.....pix to come.
Updated on 17 Mar 2011:
Day 2 post op - incision is itchy and making me crazy!! The drains are also annoying...
trying to walk around to help prevent clots, etc. So far so good....
Updated on 18 Mar 2011:
day 3 post op: I have my 1st follow up appt today. I also had to pull my pain pump out b/c it was empty :( that was expected though. I'm still walking hunched and it's starting to get annoying! Cant wait to be back to normal!!

Post Op Day 6 : A little dizzy today - not sure why. I am a little better now that I've had breakfast, but not much. I hate being on pain meds, that's probably why I feel so wierd. I'm sending the husband off today to get some ibup. so I dont have to take vicoden.
I'm able to stand up a today almost completely. probably about 10 degree away from totally straight. Still have both drains. One comes out this Tuesday and the 2nd on Friday. Looking so forward to that. They are a pain in the butt.
For those considering this, it is 100% worth it. I have never been in so much discomfort, pain, lack of sleep, etc... but felt so good about myself at the same time. I feel better today than I did 2 weeks ago. My tummy was so uncomfy and gross. I feel like 20 lbs has been lifted from my mid section. Really they took about 5 lbs total, but it feels like so much more.
Pix to follow as soon as I get the stregnth to upload them.

PO day 8: Pain is ok. I'm on only tylenol for the past 24 hours. Again, more of a discomfort than anything. I'm normally a very active person and this is really getting to me not being able to do anything! I still have the binder on which is ok. I had 1 drain removed yesterday - not as bad as I thought. It was a little bit wierd and a burning sensation, but only lasted 2 seconds. Not bad at all... and I only had tylenol in my system. Standing about 10% tilted... again, this is probably the most annoying part along with the swelling. I had lipo on my flanks as well.. I'm hoping these are swollen b/c they are still a little "chubby" :) They hurt and the dr said it will all just continue to go down. I've been taking Vitamen C and Arnica... seems to be helping.
Prayin that in 7 days I will be closer to "normal" and be able to go back to work not looking like a swollen hunchback :)
TOtally worth it though.

PO Day 11: Things are progressing. Got the 2nd drain removed yesterday! Thank God.
I'm still not standing straight, but I'm close. Moving around more and able to do some things..drove by myself yesterday and stopped at Pier 1. Life is good:)

15 days PO: Feeling very set back. I know there's a big difference, but I feel like I was much smaller immediately after the surgery.... has anybody else had this?
Updated on 2 Apr 2011:
AHHH! I feel like I'm getting bigger by the day - I was much smaller the day after surgery... is this b/c of the swelling?!?!?!

2 weeks 5 days out - Incision is really really itchy. Hopefully that's a good sign that it's healing well. I don't go back to dr. until the 14th but I'm calling tomorrow b/c i'm swollen bad. I know they will say it's' normal, but I'm just going to make sure. I've been eating soooo good... very clean, low/no sodium, etc. I feel like i have a football size fluid seciton above the incision!! Am I crazy?!?
Updated on 5 Apr 2011:
3 WKS today!! went for a PO visit today and the swelling is normal - nothing unusul going on! Also, the itching is normal too - i just need to be on the look out for yeast infections of the scar. (agh!) I am noticing slowly but surely that the swelling is subsiding. My pants are fitting better and tomorrow I'm moving onto spanx - the binder at night only. 12 on spanx 12 on binder. So far I'm teetering b/tween 10 and 13 lbs weight loss and from a sz 10 (should've been a 12 but I refused to buy them) to a tight 8 :)

my ftt and flanks lipo is march 24th//maybe we can be buddies for the hatd times.
Just focus on the new body you are about to receive and all the new clothes! Just keep busy with all of the prep work for your recovery process. The nesting will kick in the week before surgery and you will be so extremely busy that the week will fly.
The nerves will settle and you will be peeking at your flat tummy before you know it.
Go for a massage and that will relax you. Keep us up to date on your progress as you go.
LOL...I remember so well! I even cleaned my garage. My hubby thought I had gone nuts.
The bikini is actually a really good idea. Pick a low bottom so that she places the scar as low as possible. And yes you will be wearing it this summer. Keep the receipts because what fits you now will be far too large in a few weeks. That way you can at least go and exchange it for a smaller size.
My scar is very low and I love it! It hides very nicely in a little bikini bottom.
SaintLouis2873 is also on your day the 15th.
We need to keep up with each other!
Hi there,
Have you read Kimmers' Tummy Tuck Survival Guide? It's great.
I'm glad you're more on the excited side now. The fears are completely normal and mentioned by almost every woman on this site. You'll do great.
Also, if you get a chance, I have a Facebook page called Moms Who Want Their Bodies Back where we have some discussion going on about everything from plastic surgery to healthy foods to exercise.
Keep us posted on your journey!
My Surgery is March 15th as well @ 10am, I have to arrive an hour earlier and I wish so bad they could go ahead and get started by 9:05 so I can get this thing over with and be back home by the time my kids are out of school, lol.
I NEVER gone under general anesthesia and was very nervous, but a sense of calmness/peace came over me today...People have this done everyday and survive, soooooo, why would my case be any different. The PS is board certified and uses a qualified anesthesiologist so, I feel I'm in good hands, besides he reassured me no one has ever died on him, even after the surgery!
Each and every beat of your heart is monitored, if something is no right after a minute, they are able to make adjustments. They always tell me, I'm more at risk driving everyday than being at risk of complications from anesthesia. They gave me Valium to take a day before the surgery to calm my nerves, but I'm afraid to take it cause I dont want it to interfere with the ansethesia.
Let's keep in touch. :)
Please keep in touch! I'll be camped out on the laptop for a week I'm sure!! GOOD LUCK!!!! Prayers and luck your way!
Your day is almost here!! You will do wonderful so no worries. I will be anxiously awaiting to her from you and also to see your pics.
I will be saying the prayers for you!
Yes all normal!!! You will be ok.
I have been thinking about you all day and hope you are resting comfortably.
Good to hear from you! Don't get annoyed:) It will be a little bit before you are walking upright so be patient.
Rest and medicate...
Oh goodness...so glad I am done with those days. I wonder if your body is just all screwed up from the surgical trauma and medications??
Back in my period days my cycle would get all messed up if I was sick, tired, on meds, stressed, etc.
Don't panic just sit tight for a few more days. You may want to get to your doctor for the blood test. That is very accurate.
Party time!!! Whew...thank goodness!
Not sure why this all happens but it does make you nutso! All you can really do is ice, massage and elevate your feet. It just needs to run is time.
Mine was pretty bad the entire first month post op and then eased up. That area was puffy and swollen for weeks though.
