I've had saline implants for 14 years with no problems. I am now 38 years old with 2 small children. In the past year, I've had some health issues.. just some here and there, but started with a UTI infection, then panic attacks. I got through that and seemed to be okay for 6 months, but recently started with breast pain. I went to the PS shortly after it started and he told me I had capsular contracture (Baker I & II). I pretty much decided before the appointment that I wanted them out. He said he was going to do a simple explantation, but after going home and feeling awful since these pains started, I've decided on getting the capsules taken out as well. I am scared to go under the knife and having anxiety. If anyone is going through or have gone through, please let me know what to expect.

Hi AnnMa . . I an having my silicone implants out on July 6th. My capsular contracture is Baker IV. I'm not sure if the ps is going to take the whole CC out or not. I hae read that if you are small breasted leaving them in will actually help for the fullness. This is what I read anyway. I will have to call and ask my ps. Have you schedules your surgery yet.I have had mine for more than 1/2 my life and i'm ok with just taking them out.
Yes, mine is scheduled for 8/16. My PS was going to just take mine out, but I am a bit fearful of reading other's experience and research, that by leaving the capsule in could result in fluid forming and possibly another surgery to take them out if problems develop. Also, some who believe that they have caused health problems say that the silicone and other chemicals on the outside shell can break off and settle in the capsule, but of course doctors claim that they do not cause health issues. But in fear, of having further complications or possible health problems, I want to get it all over with and move on. I was an "A" before and my doctor says i have alot of my own tissue and believes good elasticity, so feels they will look good. I am going to go back though and discuss taking the capsule out in more detail, since I didn't talk to him about it at that time because he said he was just going to do a simple explantation. I do know now it is goign to be a more involved surgery and now under general anesthesia instead of local, which does scare me a bit. It's hard to know what to do! Let me know what you find out.
My ps said about stripping the cc and putting new implants in , but that was before I decided that I didn't wand new ones put in. I'm sure since I decided to just explant that he woudl still strip the cc, I guess I better ask. I don't want to have any problems after the explant, no more surgeries. I'm counting down - only 3 days to go to be implant free.
Best of luck. Please let me know how surgery and recovery goes!
Thank you AnnMa, I'm getting a little more nervious today. I'm not sure what anesthesia the ps is going to use. I'm hoping for just a local with twilight sleep. I haven't had very good response to anesthesia in the the past when my other 2 implant surgeries were done. I tend to really go under even without a preop shot. It makes me a little nervious. 2 more days and it will be over. I live about 2 hours from Pittsburg.
I am nervous about the anesthesia too. Where is your surgery? I live in suburbs of Pittsburgh and having my surgery at Magee hospital. Before you know it you will be over and done with!!
