I am a mom of three boys age 9, 7 and 1. My first pregnancy I went from being 125 lbs to 180 lbs and I've never been the same. I'm now at 145 and have a pregnant looking belly and sagging skin. I'm scheduled to do a TT, Muscle Repair, and Hernia Repair on 2/6. I'm super excited and equally as nervous!

I am getting a TT with MR and hernia repair on January 31. Did they say how long it would take for your hernia part of the surgery?

So I'm officially 29 days out! I swore that I'd lose weight before the TT and I've actually gained 5 lbs. Will they suck that out during the lipo? I am 149 and my goal weight is about 130. I was hoping to be 140 before the surgery. I'm not sure that I'll be there in time....

I gained 5lbs as well...I was 133 and now 138. I was hoping to lose a few before but it's approaching fast. Are you thinking of trying to lose a couple and if so do you have a plan you want to share? I could use a plan :)

My plan has been stress eating which isn't the right plan! Weight watchers always works best for me, but I might just crash diet the last few weeks - vita muffin for breakfast, muscle milk shake for lunch and fish/veggies for dinner... You?

I'm getting nervous and excited! Only 16 days until the new (old) me! I ordered my bed wedges but need to know what else to get. Anyone have any "must haves"? I'm going to take some before pics, but haven't done it yet. Soon to come. I have my pre-op on Wednesday so it's really getting close!

I went to my pre op appointment today. It really was no big deal. I got instructions, prescriptions, vitamins, and "before" pics. I paid in full and am ready to go. I just wish I could do it now so I could stop thinking about it! They didn't give me too much info on what to bring with me to the hospital... any suggestions??

I'm getting a tt and bl on the 29th.... Nervous is a frickin understatement! I live in NJ and will be having my surgery at neuroscience of Jefferson in Philly. My dr does a drainless tt and doesn't put you completely under. He requires one overnight stay at the hospital. Where are you having your tt done at. I will post before and after once the procedure is done :) I can't bring myself to post them until I know the skin has been removed. Are you taking any vitamins now. I stopped all mine but kinda regretting that. I was taking a prenatal multi. I bought the bromelian and arnica I'm just not sure of the dosage I should take. Everyone here starts the bromelian before their surgery. Ugh.... As Tom petty says " the waiting is the hardest part" and I could really use a glass of wine or rather 10 glasses ;)

They told me when I went and just to wear comfortable clothing ,slip on shoes. I didn't have to bring a bathing suit he made his own incision. You will be just fine it'll be over before you know it. Good luck to you.

Cook food? What kind? HELP!!!!!!! I think I'm finally getting a little bit freaked out.... maybe I should start the meds early??!!!! ;)

I didn't rent a chair and I'm not home yet but I'm calling around know for one. You need it I'm need need getting up and down is not fun . You need something solid and a lift . I can't imagine a couch or bed even with wedges. Start the bromelian now. You'll be fine :)

I'm packed and ready to go! I check in at 9:30 tomorrow. I'm super anxious, but mostly just want to be done. The anticipation is what's so hard. I have a little basket next to my bed with my meds, remotes, chap stick, etc. I also got some great cheap night shirts and zip up robes at wal mart. I guess I'm as ready as I can be... Now I just need tomorrow to get here soon! Wish me luck...

I was supposed to have a 9:30 appointment on Wednesday but I didn't get in until1:30! Holy anxiety! But once I got in it's really not been that bad. I stayed over in the hospital the first night. I had a cathedar so I didn't have to get up. The next day was the worst. I woke up and they wanted me to sit up - OUCH! That was awful. The nurse said it's better to do one painful move rather than a lot of little ones. Once I got that down it was much easier. I puked that morning and they switched my nausea meds. As far as pain meds I've been doing the dilaudid every 4 hours and valium every 6 hours. I didn't set an alarm - my body just knew. I do have a pain pump - I can't imagine not having one. It should be done later today or tomorrow and then I will pull it out, shower and take my first after pics! I hope it looks good!! BTW - my two favorite products that I could not live without were the bed wedges from overstock http://www.overstock.com/Bedding-Bath/Comfort-Dreams-Zero-Gravity-Adjustable-3-Piece-Wedge-System/6333001/product.html and a zip up robe from walmart (I can't find the link online but it's long sleeve super soft and has a zipper - key for walking around the hospital)

Sounds like the ideal recovery, pain pump, catherter and nurse. Mine was an in and out at the surgeons office. I bet your looking awesome! rest up and take it easy!

My entire family picked this week to be sick. I was expecting to be pampered, meals in bed, ice chips on demand, you get the picture. So surgery was Wednesday. By Thursday son #1 had the flu and 103 fever. By Monday son # 2 had 104 and has been vomiting and feeling like crap. By Tuesday the hubby and nanny went down. So guess who's the "well" one???!!!! The curse of the mom. And to top it off I ran out of pain meds and no one can get them.

That said, the 10 lbs I gained in surgery is gone and I haven't been hungry, so I'm thinking another week, I'll be super hot :). Luckily for me, compared to many of you recovery has been super easy... I guess so I can take care of everyone else!

Had my first post op visit Friday. It was disappointing. I was hoping to get drains out but no such luck. My ps likes 10cc per day per side before he takes them out I was at about 15 so they left them in. I had a lymphatic massage which I can't say I was a big believer in.... I'm rescheduled for Monday to check drains again but I don't think I'll be ready. My BB was looking a little too outie so she had me do the marble trick. In two days it looks so different which is awesome! I went into surgery at 147, came home at 157 and am now 145 and still swollen so I'm feeling great about that. I'm hoping to get below 140 by the end of February. I'm happy with my shape, a bit worried about bb, and getting bored of recovery! I'll do new pics on Wednesday at two weeks post op.... Happy healing to all!

Good news:
(1) So I've made it to PO day 12 and finally got down to the amount of drainage that the PS wanted (10cc's per side per day).
(2) I've lost 3 more lbs! I'm down to 142 (5 less than going into surgery and 15 less than coming out of surgery!)
(3) I went to the PS office and finally got those stinking drains out and a new not so sexy but way more comfy garment to wear. This is it if you were wondering http://marenagroup.com/garmentstore/product/tabid/199/p-84-1st-stage-girdle-with-no-leg-coverage.aspx

Now for the Bad news
(1) When I went in to the PS office to get the drains out the nurse had some concerns. She noticed a hard red section on the middle of my scar which they are calling an edema. She took a pic and sent to the PS who was not in the office at the time and he was concerned too...
(2) I'm already on one anti biotic, going on another at the same time and won my self two more dr visits this week - one for lymphatic massage (which I honestly think is a bunch of bunk) and one with the PS for eval/suture removal.
(3) I've also been running a low grade fever today so not sure it that's the edema or the sickness my whole family has had over the last week or two.....

Good times, good times......

Fever gone. Red area still nasty. Did a lot of r&r today which did wonders. Hopefully on the way to recovery. It seems like a lot of us in the first week of feb have all had complications! I hope that trend ends! Definitely getting more swollen - let the fun begin!

You have to same redness that I have on my stomach. My surgery was 2/5, and I have had thy redness in the middle part of my incision since a couple of days after. Mine is finally getting better, after starting a second antibiotic. Mine causes my incision to open up some-I hope you are not dealing with that. Hang in there, it will resolve.

Mine hasn't opened up.... yet! But the area is red and hard. And I keep getting a low grade fever 99.7 or so.... have you had that? Are we having fun yet??
Yes, I have had some fevers. I think I would notice them a lot more if I was not on a constant stream of narcotics laced with Tylenol... but yeah. I think we are definitely having fun-LOL! A few days ago that thing turned purple, and got really ugly, but my doctor said it has improved today from since my last appointment, so I am getting some faith back.

Today was such a great day.... Went to the PS office and got the lymphatic drainage massage. I swear I lost inches of water weight around my middle! Met with the nurse, the infection has decreased by about 50% in size so she feels we are well on our way. And then for fun I spontaneously asked about botox and got it done right then and there.... who needs a wrinkly face with a hot bod? No fever today, no major pain, hopefully on the upswing. Either way, I'll take a great day after the last few!

I'm finally starting to feel back to normal. The infection is totally gone which is great. Botox kicked in and made a huge difference - highly recommend it. I got a few pairs of leggings and fitted tops the other day so I can walk around thinking I'm hot (even though I'm wearing a CG and still obviously swollen, but one can pretend). And while I don't yet feel up to real excercise or sex (god knows how some of you are up for that yet) I'm finally getting some energy back!

Today was a pretty busy day.... Took a little walk around the neighborhood, went to my son's swim meet and sat in the bleachers for a few hours. Then went to the mall and took my baby and dealt with the whole stroller thing... walked around for 2 hours. I got home tired, but didn't go to bed. I actually went out for a date night with my hubby and my mom watched the kids. I went for mexican and had 2 margaritias and way too many chips and feel super guilty as I just paid thousands for this new tummy but I'll just have to be good the rest of the week.

I'm not feeling like my body is looking too different in the last few days, but I'm trying to be patient. I'll do pics in a few days for my week 3 anniversary. I went onto lands end and bought a few bikinis so hopefully they'll be here in time for the pics! Happy Healing!

You look very good!!! I also weighed 145 going in and I only saw what I looked like the first day in the hospital. I'm bandaged up now and won't see it until Thursday but from what I saw that first time kind of discouraged me. I don't feel so flat. I hope it's just swelling.

Thank you so much! You do too! We are all so hard on ourselves - I look at mine too and just see swelling as well. From reading others, it looks like we'll have a good few months of that... Hopefully it will all look "perfect" in the end! I also have 3 kids around the ages of yours - 9, 7 and 1!
Power to us, it's not easy having this procedure with children. Lol. I'm trying to hide it from them as much as I can cause they have big mouths and will tell the world.

So my TT MR HR was 3 weeks ago today! And.... Just maybe I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I worked my first full day yesterday. Full disclosure - I work from home but I was on calls at my desk all day and didn't rest once. I was actually very swollen at the end of the day. But when I woke up this am the extra swelling was gone and I'm back to normal swelling - lol. The infection is gone. Left side still seems to be more swollen than right. BB is finally showing signs that I might not hate it (but still doubt ill love it). I have had good days and bad days but good seem to be winning right now. I've become a bit anxious/feeling of jumping out of my skin going to bed - anyone else? I hope that's part of the gig and I'm not going crazy. So far so good. Let the healing continue!

Today was a day of small victories 24 days PO. I put on my po jeans and they fit and were even loose in the waist! I haven't had that problem in 10 years! Also after bracing myself a few times today to cough I realized that it didn't really hurt!! I ran around most of the day doing errands with my family and kept up (until now at almost 8 pm when I'm in bed). So overall not so bad. I did get the lands end bathing suits and unfortunately they were a no go. My scar is too high. I'm going to have to go to a store one day and try different styles... Bummer b/c aside from the scar I didn't look 1/2 bad for a 40 yo mom of 3! I'll update pics on Wed on my 4 week anniversary. Until then happy healing!!!!

Thanks, I'm in swell hell now but I'm staying positive.

So life is definitely getting easier. This...

So life is definitely getting easier. This morning was the first morning that I almost felt like myself... I unloaded the dishwasher, washed the dishes in the sink, cleaned the kitchen from last night.... all of the normal morning things I do before 8:00. And, I didn't feel sore, tired or worn out. Might not seem like a big deal, but this was a huge milestone for me. I'm back to working full time (albeit from home which is normal for me), I'm walking to the school bus stop but really not more - I need to get on that!

As far as symptoms, the pain, soreness, etc has definitely decreased. Still there, but nothing to stop me with normal activities. But now I have some new symptoms - I'm CRAZY itchy even with benedryl and when walking I feel like I'm getting poked by 100s of little pins. It doesn't hurt, but is very strange. I guess this is a good sign, but it's very strange. Does the fun ever end?

I just posted some 4 week pictures. I'm wearing the same "outfit" (bra/underwear) so I can start to really compare. I'm thinking there might be less swelling since week 3? I can't see a huge difference between 3 and 4... can you?

Lastly, I have been crazy careful with my diet. I really think before the TT I was sabotaging myself. I'd lose a bit of weight, see my nasty stomach and say screw it - I'm going to look bad anyway, I might as well enjoy the chips, cake, cookies, margaritas..... Now, I feel like I have a second chance and it's such a great feeling. I've been hovering around 150 for the past two years. The morning of surgery I was 147. Today I'm 139! I know he probably took off a few lbs of fat/skin, but def not 8 lbs! I'm so excited. I haven't seen the 130s in years. I'm going to continue the diet/healthy eating for now and hopefully begin walking for exercise in the next two weeks. I really haven't done any exercise since 2010 when I got pregnant with my 3rd so I'm going to start slow, but I can't wait to tone it up!

I'm so grateful to all of you for your stories and support. It makes this long process so much easier. Happy healing!

Quick update as I'm away on a work trip.... i added a few new pics - i remembered to pack my "outfit" :). There's very little change between wks 4&5 but thats ok. Ive been seeing more swelling this week. I wake up fine but I'm a mess by the evening. I went to my 4 week appt last week and the nurse removed a stitch in my bb. Now it looks like a big scar at the bottom :(. I'll have to ask the ps about it next week. I am feeling great other than the swelling. To those who asked about work travel- I drove 3 hrs yesterday to Baltimore and flew up and back to Boston today. Other than a much needed extra cup of coffee it was totally fine at 5 weeks. Until next week....

Getting back into the normal swing of life. I'm done with spanx at night but still feel better with them in the day. I have a few concerns that I'll discuss at my appt. tomorrow - bb scar is ugly, dog ear on right and bulge on left flank. Hopefully all are quick fixes. Other than that, I'm thrilled. It's been a year!

OK, it's been over a year but thought I'd share an update. The bulge on the left and the dog ear on the right never went away. I had to go in today for a touch up. It was in office, no big deal. He cut the skin where the dog ear was and stitched it up and did lipo on the bulge area. I hope that helps! My weight has been a struggle. I looked back and was sad that I was 139 at one point. I got up to 158 this year :( The last few weeks I've been working hard and am back down to 149 which is where I went in to surgery at. I have work to do but I'll get there! Overall still so happy I did it. Now it's up to me! Happy to answer any questions....
