I've been waiting for breasts since I was 14 years...

I've been waiting for breasts since I was 14 years old but they never came. Now that I am engaged I decided to take the plunge and get breast augmentation in time for my wedding day!

I am only a day post op but I can already tell it was worth it. I'd also like to mention I had a mole excised on my face so that's why the cost is higher. Sorry I can't really provide photos because I have several tattoos and I'd prefer that I stay anonymous as much as possible. I know you ladies would prefer to see photos though, so I'll try to photoshop later. I've been fairly quiet about my surgery. My family, aside from my fiancé do not know yet.

Back in December I had my first consultation and my doctor and staff were wonderful! I know people suggest shopping around and a meeting with several doctors but once I spoke with Dr. Butler I felt completely at ease and was ready! The only other surgery I've had was removing some impacted wisdom teeth; I haven't even broken a bone or received stitches before (knock on wood), so needless to say, I was a little nervous.

The coolest part of meeting with Dr. Butler was that his office utilizes the 3D Vectra system! The software allows you to see what your future breasts will look like by taking 3D images of your torso and then adjusting CC's on screen. It was fascinating technology and experience. Even better is that Dr. Butler told me that in several of his patients' 6 month post-op appointments they look extremely close to their Vectra images! I can't wait!

A little more random information. I hear the 2nd and 3rd day are the worst, so I'm not looking forward to that! The first day, immediately after surgery, was no big deal. I was prescribed Percocet (for pain) and a muscle relaxer. He also prescribed me Zofran for nausea just in case but my nausea only lasted an hour, if that, after surgery. So far I'm staying on top of the pain by taking 2 Percocet every 4 hours, as prescribed.

Back track a bit....

Preparation:
Unfortunately, my fiancé lives in another state at the moment so I had to rely on a few good friends to make sure I had everything I needed, most importantly a ride to and from surgery. The hospital where Dr. Butler operates out of requires that your driver stay within the hospital. I'm lucky to have a couple of friends that offered to help with that.

A week prior to surgery I had my pre-op visit where I was given my prescriptions. FILL YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS PRIOR TO SURGERY. The hospital gave me an option to fill the prescriptions after the surgery; I'm glad I did it prior to surgery with my preferred pharmacy. After surgery I just wanted to go home. Bring a pillow for the ride home so that you can hug it tight to your chest to reduce any pain from speed bumps, etc.

I created a little "recovery station" on my sofa, in front of the television and with books and magazines next to the sofa. Unfortunately, the first day made it difficult to read so I didn't get into my books and mags. I purchased s loaf of bread to eat prior to taking my meds as well an assortment of my favorite snacks and two gallons of water in the twist, button spout.

I downloaded an app on my android phone that allowed me to enter my different pills and set reminders. That was super handy! But you can just use your alarm clock on your cell phone.

I did a lot of research prior to surgery and making the decision to go for it! I think RealSelf was extremely helpful! Don't let the negative stories to get to you though. There is always risk in any surgery, so with that in mind I made a LIVING WILL, which I had witnessed and notarized. At the age of 3-, you don't really think about that kind of stuff but I decided it was important. This isn't the will where I state how I want to distribute my belongings but instead s medical LIVING WILL, which outlines how I feel about life support, organ donations, etc. I listed my fiancé as my POWER OF ATTORNEY (PoA); your PoA can be anyone, just make sure it's someone you trust to keep your best interests in mind. I brought my Living Will with me to my surgery so that the hospital had it on file.

Post-op:
After I came to from the anesthesia they gave me about an hour before they sent me home. Dr. Butler and the nurses warned me that my chest would feel very heavy and to not panic. It wasn't that heavy of a feeling when I woke up but then again they were giving me some meds through my IV.

Once I got home I took two Percocet per my doctor's instruction and continued to stay on top of the pain. I pretty much was in and out of sleep the rest of the day. I did notice that I was a bit itchy, still am, mostly in my legs, arms and back, none on my breast. I read that itchiness could be a side effect of the Percocet, so no worries. I was really cranky are surgery so I apologized to everyone profusely!

Dr. Butler provides you with a compression bra which replaces the need to massage, as I've heard other people say they had to do after their surgery.

So far so good though. My alarms wake me up/remind me take my meds on time, even throughout the night.

The details:
Before surgery I was a 34A, if that.
After surgery I will hopefully be a 34C.
Under the muscle, silicone gel implants, 420cc in the right breast and 325cc in the left breast (I think that was the split)
Inframammary incision. I originally wanted Transaxillary incisions but I discussed the options with Dr. Butler and determined that the inframammary incisions would reduce the possibility of infection by not being through the armpit, which has sweat glands, etc. Also I hope to breast feed children some day so the inframammary reduced the chances of damaging the ducts/glands.

I went with the C option because the D option in the Vectra software, though looked fine, I was worried about clothing fitting properly, especially button ups. With the bra on I can't tell if I went too small. Oh well.

2-day post op

Went to my 2 day post op where the nurse removed the gauze that were over my incisions. My surgeon is so amazing that there is no bruising at all and I even bruise relatively easily. The nurse said I needed to keep my compression bra on for the next 2 weeks, only removing to bathe and wash the bra. I can't soak in a tub for the sake of my scars but showering is fine.

I've had complete movement of my arms the entire recovery period (day 2), which has been nice.

I think my mobility is probably partially due to my surgeon's great work and my tolerance for pain. I've never had children but I feel like this is supposed to be a pretty painful operation. So far, so good!

Can't wait for the Girls to drop though!

Happy NYE!

I forgot to update this post because I never visit the site anymore! Sorry.

As the New Year wraps up, I can say I LOVE my new girls. Sometimes I think maybe I could've been fine without getting the but they're so great!

I still have some numbness underneath both breasts and the incisions are a little raised but that's how I heal. My PS said I could just rub the scars with some lotion to help them flatten out.

Other than the scars and slight numbness still, they look AMAZING and feel soft, real! I was shocked to discover I measured out to be a 32DDD, though my doctor assures me I'd be considered a small D, full C to a doctor. I'm not worried about it. I think they look proportional to my body. I'll try to post photos soon.

PS. I got married in October and the "new additions" did not disappoint my husband! They also helped fill out my wedding dress. ;)

I typically only go to the doctor for my annual women's visit but Dr. Butler had the best bedside manner I've come across, which is super important with this intimate of a surgery, I think! He answered all my questions and assured me that I should ask questions even if they seem stupid. He even put up with my ride home, who can be very talkative and inquisitive. Even without seeing my finished breasts, I'd recommend Dr. Butler to anyone!
