Finally decided to take a leap and do something...

Finally decided to take a leap and do something for myself, albeit significant and costly. I am a married mom of 3 kids 5 years old and under. I breastfed/pumped for each about 2-3 months. I am now a very deflated 34B. I am 5'6" and 118lbs. I've done a lot of research to now know my ribcage measurement is 29" and breast width diameter (bwd) is somewhere between 13.3-13.9. I am having silicone implants for the sake of feeling "natural" at 450cc under the muscle. They are moderate plus profile. (Did the whole rice sizer thing and try on sessions and settled at this).
I have opted on the "awake" procedure mostly for the sake of peace of mind (I won't have jitters about not waking up) and for the cost savings. My doctor has prescribed valium and a sleeping pill and will then inject local anesthetic. Initially, I wasn't put off by this idea, after all I've had a previous breast surgery to remove a benign growth on 2 separate occasions, once while I was pregnant and unable to take any sedatives/drugs so I think I can be stoic...but honestly, it's a bit scary.
Aside from the surgery, here are my concerns:
1. am I'm going too big. And I know that's vague, but I don't want to be hanging out all over the place-I have 3 young kids. At the same time though, I'd like to be full again and larger than previous to having kids.
2. I racked my brain over these measurement guidelines of staying under 1cm for the implant size being put into your breast. My BWD is 13.3-13.9 and the implant is 13.6. Is this range safe, ok? (I mean my surgeon is 2x board certified, but he never took measurements, he looked at me, asked what I wanted and we discussed it).
I'm tired of staring at boobs and comparing them to mine to see what my "after" may appear like.
So I'd like your thoughts, comparisons, advice?
Thanks,
Jamie

UPDATE:
My surgery was yesterday, performed under local anesthetic with taking valium and a sleeping pill of which did little to help with my anxiety let alone help me sleep. To do it over again, I recommend general anesthesia, the tugging, pulling and occasionally pinching of nerves was a lot to take. (at one point I kneed the doctor in the chest). But anyway...the ride home sucked, although I was somewhat still numb and didn't do the general, I was both in pain already and vomiting. Granted everyone has a different experience and pain tolerance, but my first 12 hours were pretty rough, throwing up at night as well.
But now its the following morning and I'm feeling better. The percocet is helpful and after having taken off my wrap, I felt relieved.
IF YOU CAN MANAGE THE FIRST 24 HOURS, IT WILL GET BETTER!
But do your research as to what to accept them to look like, bc they are riding pretty high-that's normal.

Today is day 3 after my surgery. I'm pleased with how well my body can recuperate given the pain on day 1. However, today I have an occasional burning sensation in my left breast that radiates to the nipple. I'm assuming it's just nerve endings coming back but it's uncomfortable. I'd like to see them drop a bit or even a lot (i know that comes w time)-they look like shelves for now..and smaller than I think they will end up since most of their size is swollen under my collar bone.

Day 7 and feeling really great. They look the same as day 1 post op and every day thereafter (in pics anyway) but I see subtle changes in my profile. I feel a lot less tight and the heating pad is my new best friend. Initially I had to use it for my shoulders the first few days following surgery since I inadvertently walked around like Shrek. But last night I subtly layed it across my chest for about 30 min or so and it helped the soreness near my armpits a bit too. Hoping they continue to drop and fill in. Very happy for now..

I'm 18 days post op from doing 450cc moderate plus profile smooth round silicone unders...any suggestions on helping them come down more...I'm massaging and wearing the strap as often as possible. Any special techniques that have helped you ladies?
Great review?

Thanks for the progression pics. There's a huge difference between post op days 9 and 12! And your final results are beautiful.

I really don't think your boobs looked bad before. Hope you like your 'after' once the implants have fully settled.

My BA surgery is in a little less than 2 weeks. I chose IV sedation. I'm sure that as you continue to heal they will drop and only get even better.

I'm planning to do a local as well... we shall see how it goes! Glad to hear you were able to get through it though! Glad you are doing well!

I really wish that my doc gave the option for twilight sedation instead of just general..I have had several procedures under twilight with local anesthesia and had no problems. I also had a benign tumor removed from my right breast with only local anesthetic. I don't think I could have a full augmentation done that way! You are brave! There was no pain, of course, during the procedure, but I still felt everything they were doing which was creepy!

Funny... I had a benign growth also removed from my right breast years ago and that's what made me think I could go through w it. I did in fact make it thru, but never again-put me to sleep!

It's been nearly 48 hrs since my surgery, the pain is subsiding although middle of the night and morning wake ups suck bc I'm stiff and more sore but moving around helps a lot. I'm going to try just tylenol today in hopes of not needing the percocet (fingers crossed). My boobs still look like shelves and a tad more swollen. I can fit 3 fingers beneath my collar bone before the start of my swollen breast area begins.

Wow I don't think I could do a local anesthetic, I'd be freaking out the whole time. But that's kind of cool you got to experience it like that

I'm so glad it's done and you're on the other side. Great insight about the local vs. general anesthesia, too. Please keep us posted as you continue to heal!
