I once had an amazing metabolism at 5'6"...

I once had an amazing metabolism at 5'6" weighing in at 118lbs. Then was hit with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis...gaining 70lbs in 2 months. After surgery to remove the tumor, I lost 50 pounds. Since then it's been a battle! Up and down, up and down.

The first 5 months of my pregnancy I had gained 6lbs. Duting the 6th month....BAM, 15 lbs. OMG, i was freaking out. Found out that I had polyhydramnios ( excess of amniotic fluid in the amniotic sac, seen in 1-2% of pregnancies)which makes your tummy get too large too quickly and your skin is stretched to the max. My skin was sooooo stretched that I was able to pinch it. Now, I have been sporting the "gunt" as a friend of mine put it instead using the apron of skin wording. Made me feel so good about my self.

Now it is 4 years later and I am finally going ahead with my TT!! WOOT WOOT.

Recieved my package in the mail and consult is booked for May 5th. I can not wait. I have not stopped talking about it. Think I am driving my friends crazy. That is why I am here to drive you guys crazy LOL.

Waiting period for a TT is 8-12 weeks post consult. Would love to have it done then but work is crazy in the summer and many people are off on mat leave. I am aiming for Sept 2011. I also want to enjoy my summer.

Will keep you guys posted!!

Had my consultation yesterday. Sooooo exciting. My PS made me feel great. I was thinking " Wow, I will finally be able to wear the clothes that I wanto wear and look good in it."
I was also thinking of my xmas staff party (yes, ladies....thinking of xmas already). I hate dresses but thought "this is the year for wearing a kick ass dress.
So after my consult (flying high with excitment) with PS I am sent to another waiting area to meet with the booking clerk/finance manager. Then the quote come out. WOW, was not expecting that!
So, now a day later.....
I am sooo confused! Don't get me wrong, I have been waiting for this for 4 years but coming up with soo much money. Not sure if I can and it's bringing me down. How can I be sooo freaking close. Finally thinking that I am getting the TT thats I have been wanting for soo long and then get slapped in the face.

Deposit has been paid. Got confirmation a couple of weeks ago (approx).
Was told to expect my pre op package no later than the first week in June.
I have been soooo impatient, checking the mail every single day.

Will let you know what I need to do!!!

Here we are Sept 1...surgery on the 21st!! FINALLY.
Hade my preop on the 30th of Aug. Was fairly quick.....no eating/drinking after 12m. No advil 2 weeks prior, smoking/2nd hand smoke...yada yada yada LOL
They will be calling me the Thrusday prior to surgery to let me know my arrival time. Made a request to be the earliest as possible. Wanna get it over and done with. I should be more patient...been wanting this for 4 years now he he he
I am staying over night and being discharged at 6am the following day
Also, as mentioned in my last post....was told that I needed to be 170lbs or less. Been working out and eating better. Started off at 185lbs. As of this morning...I am 173.2 lbs!!! BUT when I do weight myself in the evening....i go up to 175 lbs grrrrrrr!!
Gotta be positive...I have another 21 days to loose weight. I should be able to do it right???

Hello Chicas The time is finally approaching,...

Hello Chicas
The time is finally approaching, still not fast enough. Got my phone call this evening. Need to be at the clinic for 12:45 on the day of surgery(21st). It's kinda late. Thinking I am the last patient of the day. Woo am I going to be hungry LOL

Now back to dieting.....I suck!! Mentioned earlier that I had to be 170lbs. Well, I am 170.6 in the am and get to 172isf by the evening.....Spoke with the RN during my preop appt and told her I was a little concerned about the lbs . She told me that was fine a few lbs more was ok. Guess its a good think I am fasting until 12 noon day of surgery unless I swell up before getting there. So, will try to loose at least 1 more lbs bt next Wednedsay.

Talk to you soon

Hey girls, It is done and I am truely happy....

Hey girls,
It is done and I am truely happy. Surgery was on Sept 21 st. Went in at 1:30 and was in my room by 4pm. Had a reaction to the morphine. Was soooooo itching, eyes puffy. Was given benydryl. Night of the surgery was a breeze. Felt great. Had a 1 1/2 hour drive back home with no problem.
Day 1 was really good until the early evening. The long lasting freezing was starting to go bye bye. Took my first percocet at that time. Slept well all night but do regret not keeping up with meds though the night cuz I felt it this morning.
Day 2 (today, Sept 23)..very tough morning. feeling everything. Muscle repair, insicion, drainage tube but was expecting it. Hubby and my 4 yo daughter changed my dressings and they are clean. No discharge as of yet.
Will post some pics hopefully in the next couple of days.

Well I have to say Day 2 as been the worst so far....

Well I have to say Day 2 as been the worst so far. Husband pulled the pain pump out this am. Most of the pain is coming from the swelling at the lipo sites. My hips are HUGE HUGE HUGE!! The JP drain is draining very well and quick. Hoping it slows down by Tuesday so I can have it remove at my 1st postop appt. Still no BM....kinda worried. Been taken stool softeners. There is some movement going on but.....

Hello again,
This is a journey!!! My incision and MR feel fine. The lipo is killing me. If I am sitting ..everything is fine but as soon a s I try to move to reposition myself or got to the washroom...WOW what a feeling. I get this burning sensation and pulling. My upper thighs are soooo swollen and that's where it hurts.
A little jealous at some of you girls for being able to stand and take pics so early on :-) Also disappointed...I friend of mine is starting a new job and we are having a going away party in 2 days...don't think I can make it!!
Thats is for today......so far

9 days post op and things are looking better. Starting to heal....the itching is crazy. I am going nuts....anything I can do????
Tape is off my incision, looking pretty good. Swelling is going down. Still have more on the right side. A little concerned about that side. When I lay flat, it looks swollen but when I am sitting it looks more than like a fat roll. Keeping my fingers crossed that it is not and reminding myself that it has only been 9 days.
Moving more. Trying to stand up staighter. All in good time.

I've read post of people saying that they were itchy when healing started but this is unbearable. I cannot stand it. Been taking Benadryl with little effect.

Starting to get that pulling/burning sensation that I had soon after surgery. Oh well, what can I do!!! Also find that I ahve a buldge at the top of my abdomen...where the MR starts. Gotta be patient right!!

Hello ladies,
Hit the 3 week mark yesterday. Not doing bad at all. More swelling than I had last week. Thought I did too much a few days ago but....the swelling is still there. More so at night. Also, notice a part of my scar getting red and the scar looking a little discolored. Pressed on it and some puss came out....GRRREEEAAATTTTT!! Looking closer, I notice that I still have a stitch in that area which are supposed to be disolving. Will call my PS tomorrow.

Hey ladies,
Been a while. Gone through a bunch of emotions/feelings that you've all talked about. Now I am at the point where I am not sure about my results.
When I stand I have no complaints but when I sit and kinda crouch.....not liking it much. I have a roll on each side of my incision, just above my hips. Things are not so tight. Noticed it apprx 4 days ago. Been telling myself that its still the swelling. Not so sure. Once again I keep on telling myself that I am only 4 weeks out of surgery...need to give it time..right???
Anyone else with something similar???Should things not be tight everywhere??
Let me know!!

Great review?

Slow down girlie.  Your body needs rest in  order to heal.

As far as thee puss and stitch popping out don't stress yet.   I had four different areas on my incision line where this happened.  My last area was at three months post op.  Crazy right...

I would notice a red bump and then within a day the end of a stitch would pop out.  The first time this happened I freaked and ran into the doctor.  The nurse pulled the stitch out and placed antibiotic ointment on the area.  It healed up in a couple of days and was fine.

The 2, 3rd stitches I just pulled out myself and cleaned with hydrogen peroxide.  The holes closed up in a day.  Then the fourth eruption I went back into the doctor.  This one was a biggie!!!  It was at the end of the suture line and it was the entire suture knot trying to push through the skin.  My body just spits these things out.  The nurse pulled the knot out and put more ointment on it.   Never had any infection even though puss did come out.

Keep an eye on this and if it starts to get super red and you have yellow stinky puss get back to the doctor.

So many women have this happen with stitches.  Doctor knows best though:)

Hey Kimmers,
I ended up going to the ER last night since the one spot was getting worse and infection was starting at both ends of the insicion.

I ended uo having some of the sutures were cut. They cleaned the whole incision with peroxide, sterile saline and put some antibiotic ointment over the infected area. Also got a shot of antibiotics and a script for another round of antibiotics..they also swabbed the areas.
Not worried about the whole thing....just don't want it to get any worse. I am due back to work this coming week.

How are you doing now??

Angiemcc (Community Manager) 11 Oct 2011

If only the stupid chores would let up and let you heal. I hope you can take it easier tomorrow.

BellaBelly 7 Oct 2011
Glad to hear you're feeling well! That itching was horrible. You look great!
Angiemcc (Community Manager) 2 Oct 2011

Oooh no! Itching is the WORST! Does it feel like it's sort of inside your skin, or outside? Here's what some doctors have to say about itching on the inside.

Have you contacted your surgeon about this? You should ask if it'd be okay to put hydrocortisone where it itches. I really have no idea if this is okay, so do ask.

I can tell you that what has helped me when I've been itchy beyond anything imaginable is cold. Ice packs work.

Hope this helps at least a little. Please let us know how you're doing with your extreme itchies!

taraf1717 (RealFriend) 2 Oct 2011
Sounds exactly like what happend to me. Have you washed the areas really well ? Make sure any tape residue is washed away and take cool shower ... Hot will make it worse . And use the cortisone cream. That should help till u c ps tues
BluEyez 2 Oct 2011
Hey Tara,
I have been scrubing the incision very very well. Just got out of the shower...felt great. I even took a shower at 3 am since I couldn't handle it anymore. I do have some leftover cortisone cream. Used it at on each end of the incision but didn't put any on....not sure if I should yet. Seems to be easing off a bit.
Once again, thanks for the input.

hey i had a crazy allergic reaction to all the tape and had hives and horrible rash all over my tummy and boobs...your problem doesnt sound nearly as bad as i mine but i will tell you what my dr did for me ...cleaned area w baby shampoo and applied hydrocortizone cream like 5 times a day when i felt like scratching i put more on..also he gave me a cortizone shot which really did nothing..also took benadryl round the clock..and then finally when it wasnt getting better he put me on a steriod (pill ) and that finally helped and cleared it all up but was horrible..i sware the itch was worse then the pain!! so hopefully just putting some cream on will help you just dont get it on the incision.!!! hope i could help! and whatever you do dont scratch! i did and it made it so much worse...
BluEyez 2 Oct 2011
Hi Tara, been eating Benadryl like it is candy. I am thinking it might be a reaction to the paper skin tape which is odd. Most people are allergic to the regular skin tape. When I went for my preop bloodwork, the lab tech did use the paper tape....started itching when I took it of and was red.
I started itching when all tape was removed from my incision.....I see my PS on Tuesday...hopefully its better by then .
Thanks

The lipo is VERY uncomfortable/painful. Are you staying on top of your pain killers? If you don't want to take narcotic pain killers, at least take tylenol. Hang in there, it will get better.
BellaBelly 26 Sep 2011
Hey BluEyez, hang in there! I agree, the lipo seems to cause the most pain .... Maybe you could give your ps a call?
BluEyez 26 Sep 2011
Seeing him tomorrow...will ask then. If not for that i would be doing pretty good.
Thanks

Hi BluEyez & Congrats on making it to the other side!

Hi BluEyez, you may need a laxative as well. I had my surgery on Tues, Aug 30 and finally had my first BM on Saturday at 3:00 am. It was almost 4 days for me which seems to be about what it is for a lot us. I was taking a pill that was a laxative and stool softener together. The pharmacist recommended it. On Friday morning, Sept. 2, I had my first post-op with my PS and the nurse suggested I try taking Miralax. It is a powder that you add to any liquid. I had a small glass of low calorie gatorade and put the miralax in that around dinner time on that Friday. I then woke up around 2:45 am feeling like I might be able to go. I went in the bathroom and just sat there and just let my body work. It took about 20 minutes but I just relaxed and vavoom, I had my first post-op BM. I had absolutely no pain with it and boy did I feel so much better.

I also highly recommend you take the percocets faithfully. I took two every 4 hours for the first three days and had no pain. I slept and rested very comfortably. The key is to stay ahead of the pain. Don't let it get bad because then it's hard to get it under control. I then started taking ES tylenol during the day and percocet at night. I was off the percocets pretty fast but once in a while I needed one. My doctor gave me 20 but I didn't need them all.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op right now and even with all the swelling, I'm thrilled. I can't even imagine what I'm going to look like when all the swelling is finally gone.

Good luck to you and congratulations!

Blu Eyez, 2 more sleeps :) Wishing you lots of luck for your surgery. You are going to love your new flat tummy. Look after yourself and keep us posted on your recovery.

BeyondBusyMomma,

OMG thank you sooooooo much for all the info!! It is really appreciated.
I would love a copy of all the info. I have never hade to watch what to eat until now and honeslty I don't know much about it.
Once again, thanks

Girl! I have an underactive thyroid and it seems like it took awhile to get it under control! When it got out of whack, I had a rapid weight gain of about 30 pounds and another 60+ pounds with my first pregnancy! Its a tricky thing! I've been there with the weight gain, pregnancy, weight loss, repeat, & repeat!

I hate diets and really feel strongly about it being a lifestyle change. There's not just one thing that needs to happen to lose weight, it's a consistent balance of several things. 10 lbs in just over a month is certainly attainable!

My best advice for weight loss is to be calorie aware. Write down what you eat and tally up your cals. To lose weight have you to burn more calories than you consume. Depending on your age, weight and activity level the cals you need daily vary.

Eat 3 small meals and 2 snacks a day. This takes planning, but being mindful of how you're fueling your body is worth it! Eat an early dinner and don't make it your "heaviest" meal of the day. If I need to knock down a pound or two, I won't eat anything after 6-7:00. I love a protein smoothie as a meal replacement. I'll mix ice, fatfree yogurt, protein powder, almond milk, sugar free jello, phsillium husks (this is fiber! has no taste and a pulp-like texture but blended with ice, I don't notice it at all!) This is around 300 cals, at least 30 grams of protein and super filling!

Water!Water!Water! Drink water! I love all the flavor stuff like Crystal Light and Mio to jazz it up. Lemon is a natuaral diuretic (sp?) and is great to add with some Stevia.

You have to get your workouts in to burn it off! If you do workout regularly and are not getting results, crank up the intensity and add extra time spent! Try a few different classes at a gym. Our bodies do get conditioned to the repetitive activities we do, so switch it up!

Don't forget to rest!

Last year when I was working hard to lose the last 10 pounds, I doubled up my workouts. Instead of one class, I'd do two. I wasn't doing the same two things everyday. It'd be running and yoga, step class and weights, or Zumba and Pilates, etc., etc.! Find something you love to do, and don't be afraid to try something new! You just might find a new challenging passion!

I have a copy of a really great resource that I received with a well known workout video set. For me its been the most straight forward information to help me get results. Pretty much it's what I have said in the above, but with more detail, esp about the calorie stuff. If you'd like a copy, let me know.
Best of Luck to you! Set your goal, make a plan, and get it done!!

What great input! Thanks so much.

JoBibbi 15 Aug 2011
BluEyez,

To lose the weight, I recommend eating moderate portions of protein, veggies and fruit only. In addition you'll need to walk 1 hour a day at least 5 days a week. If you can't manage an hour at one time, do 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening. Good luck, you are going to look fabulous!
BluEyez 15 Aug 2011
Hey JoBibbi,
I have chaged my diet sooo much...it is killing me :-) Not a big fan of veggies......looking for new ways to eat them!!
Thanks

OMG give Weight Watchers a try.  I lost all my weight on that program and loved it.

Also hit the gym 5 days a week with a 50/50 mix of cardio and weights.  You can do this!!
