Had my first son at 17 and started pregnancy at 120 Lbs and ended at 199!! I am now 37 years old (yesterday) and this is my gift to my self! I have not wore a bikini or even been comfortable with my own body for my entire adult life. I recently lost 10 pounds and am at my "happy" weight but decided that the extra skin has to go. I am scheduled for 23 of march which is 3 days away!!! I have read sooo many postings on this site for months and decided to jump in. So far I'm not nervous just extremely excited!! T minus 3 days and counting!!

PS I have before photos and when I figure out how to upload them I def. will

How exciting! I know all to well about the rapid pregnancy weight gain and the toll it takes on our bodies! I too gained 80lbs with both my pregnancies ugh!! Had my mommy makeover 4 weeks ago. Best decision I made! I feel so good about myself again...finally! Good luck to you!

Happy Birthday! Two days until your big day! You're right, hanging, extra skin will not go away with exercise, so, if you want that gone (and don't we all?) this is really the only way.

I'd be happy to help you upload images. Please send me a personal message if you can't figure it out and I'll guide you. Or you can email them and I'll do it for you.

Keep us posted!

Ok had surgery at 7:45 this morning and got home at about 5 P.M. Would have been home earlier but couldn't pee. I first will star off with thank god surgery is done!! My best friend is an RN and my surgeon allowed her to sit in on the procedure, she said my stomach is sooo flat! Can't wait to see on Friday when I go for first post op. Now for the pain part, not gonna lie it hurts. Abs feel like I did too many sit ups but the most pain is getting in and out of bed and it's pretty much all at the drain sites (I have 2). My PS gave me vicodin last week at my pre op , I refused the percocet by the way. Well I quickly called him while i was still in recovery to say I think I'm gonna need the stronger meds but unfortunately he already left. The one good thing is I work for a doctor so he wrote me a percocet script ....he is my angel right now.

I noticed a small amount of blood wher one of the drains go in and just wondering if anyone can reassure me that this is normal.

Ok time for my pain meds and maybe a cat nap. Will chat again soon

Today's your big day!! Good luck to you. I just had my tummy tuck on Monday, and it has not been easy.....but I keep reminding myself that the pain is just for a short amount of time, and the flat belly will be forever! Keep your head up and remember why you did this. Happy Healing!!

Day 2 and really sore today. Drains hurt the most, kinda stabbing pain (and bleeding a bit) when I move which I only really do every 2 - 3 hours when I have to go to the bathroom. And I am really surprised at how swollen my vaginal area is....WOW!!
I go for my first follow up tomorrow so I will update you all then.

Okay, so I had my surgery on Tuesday and went for a follow up today. I have to keep the drains in till Monday, but I expected that. I did get to see my tummy in the mirror and although it is swollen, it looks amazing! Really uncomfortable yesterday and today, but the pain meds keep me sleeping a lot. How did yours go?
  • Reply
Mine went good I think, I much like you have been sleeping a lot. Pretty much just get up to pee. I go for my first post op tommorow and I'm sure my drains will stay in too.
Actually the most pain I have is from the drain sites (2) and they started to bleed a little. You having that at all?
Hello. How are you feeling today? I hope you were able to sleep well last night...

Had my post op appointment today and Doc said everything looks good, he took the drains out which seems to help with the discomfort. I got to see my belly for the first time today and was shocked at how flat it is and a little weirded out with how numb my stomach area is.
I'm gonna attemp a shower today with my boyfriends help but I'm nervous. I have a picture on my phone from my post op and as soon as I'm able to get to my computer I will post it ( on my Ipod now).
PS va-jay-jay is still really swollen!!!

Slept pretty good last night, but was hoping the discomfort would be starting to lessen, but am super tight and still really sore. I will be glad when the drains come out, they are seeping a little bit, but not too bad. Let us know how your post-op goes okay? I am happy to just be watching my Sex and the City DVD's starting from season one all over again. Looking at the ladies in that show and their nice flat stomachs makes me excited for mine! How are you spending your days?

I went for post op today and drains came out! I got to see my belly for the first time.... OMG it is sooo flat!! I'm still sore but not as bad as yesterday.
My days pretty much consist of napping and watching TV. And my boyfriend got me the entire series of NipTuck so that will keep me busy for awhile.
Wow...those came out fast! Lucky girl. I am noticing today that the drainage is changing to a yellowish color. I am numb and sore and can't wait till Monday. Did it hurt much when he removed the drain? Are you standing up straighter yet? I haven't had much back pain at all which is a good thing. Just waiting for hubby to get home so we can chat and watch some of our shows together.

It's about 6 AM and I can't sleep. Only slept about half hour at a time all night. I'm exhausted and starting to swell I think but other than that I feel pretty good!

So I had surgery on Wednesday and today is...

So I had surgery on Wednesday and today is saturday I'm feeling much better, still sore and numb but no pain. I just got up to go to the bathroom and my boyfriend pointed out that I am walking almost straight up.... When did that happen??? I keep taking peaks at my belly but I just can't stand that when I touch my skin it doesn't even feel like it belongs on my body... Weird!! My belly button is really dark and I'm not sure if it's supposed to look like this but I go for a follow up on Monday so we will see.

wow, standing up straight already! Nice! Post some pics when you feel up to it! Take care :-)

How are you doing standing? Do you feel like you don't want to stand to straight for fear of hurting yourself? When do you go see your Dr. again? I really cannot wait to get these drains out and think I am going to feel so much better than I do now.

It's funny I walked to the bathroom a bit ago and my boyfriend pointed out that I'm almost standing straight I guess it Is just happening on it's own. I'm really not on my feet much just to go to the bathroom. I go for follow up on Monday which I'm kinda glad about cuz I feel like my belly button is looking weird, a little dark, almost black. And you will be amazed when they take the drains out, you will feel so much better.

So I'm not having the best day, I feel really...

So I'm not having the best day, I feel really full even though I have barley eaten. I am super sore and can't wait til things get back to normal. To top it all off my son went back to college today from spring break so I'm a little cranky and sad!
I do go for another follow up tommorow so I guess we will see.

I am walking pretty well, very sore though. So get this, I weighed 101 lbs. day of surgery and I am now 107! Super upset over this though I am swollen and all. How soon is this going to start going down? I am a little discouraged today and am starting to second guess myself...very irritable too. Anyone have some words of wisdom???

I was 137 day of surgery and I know I'm more but won't check. I tried to go without pain meds and made it about 15 hours but the pain started and had to give in. Im at the point now that I don't feel like I will ever be normal again:-(
my son left to go back to college today from spring break so I'm a little emotional and kinda cranky myself. I Too am looking for some light at the end of the tunnel

Patience my dears...it is swelling and fluid which gets better over time.

If you get all stressed out your body will respond in a negative way and take twice as long to heal.

Just know that it will end.

Ok I'm 5 days post op and today has been great!! I showered and then me and my friend obsessed over my new body. I can't believe how flat my stomach is and I have NO muffin tops!! Then I actually put make up on and did my hair then went to see my PS then to lunch!! I am pretty tired now but I haven't had pain meds since last night and not in pain at all. I am sure I will have ups and downs still but today I am thankful I did this and it's all been worth it

PS I had surgery last Wednesday at 138 lbs and today I am 135 and that's with this swelling!!!

Dr removed the right drain today only, but insists I am doing great. On Wednesday the left comes out, and he says it will be much better after that. Then I will start to feel like my "new" old self! Can't wait for that.

So your one step closer! I'm actually having a good day today. I'm down like 3 pounds and actually went out of the house today... TWICE! Just got back from having dinner with my boyfriend and son. Are you swollen or bruised yet?
Ok it's a good day and I'm better. What a difference a day makes!

I'm doing really good today, it is getting easier but everytime I get up I feel this stabbing pain and I can't tell if it coming from my incision or from where the drain site was?? But it also feels like maybe it's coming from my pubic area. Other than that it's been a good few days.
Today is 1 week and I have pretty much taken it easy so tomorrow I'm gonna attempt grocery shopping. I hope it doesn't make me swell to much more!! I have some pics to post and I promise I will do it tommorrow , I hate that this site doesn't allow me to post from my I pod

I went to the mall yesterday and bought a new garment to try...it's kinda like a spanx but a different brand. I tried a spanx on and it was too hard to get on so I went with the high undies control garment. I'm trying them today to run a couple errands and then out to dinner. I will let you know how they work.

Hi Joyce,

You will get there!   It takes time and is a bit frustrating.   But the results are worth it.

Just look at it as a break in housework...which we hardly ever get:)
I know I keep telling myself that. I did buy a new garment yesterday that I'm gonnna try today and hopefully it keeps some of the swelling down

That should help a little bit.  Mostly it is just time that heals this swelling.

Went for another follow up with the PS today.. He thought maybe I was a little too swollen and wanted to see if I had some fluid building up so he put what I think is the longest needle I have ever seen into my abdomen!! But turned out I have no seroma...thank god! But I'm still pretty swollen so he wants me to lay super low for awhile and take it easy. I will be 2 weeks in 2 days and I'm thinking it's gonna be a much longer road to recovery than I thought!
I asked him about scar therapy And he said I could try the silicone sheets or vitamin d oil but he actually prefers Palmers cocoa butter...said it has the best results that he has seen on his patients.
So guess I'm off to hang out on the couch for the night, my poor doggie is wondering where his runs have been for the past couple weeks.

I know your probably right, it just kills me to be this swollen and I am just worried I'm gonna stay this size. I don't know what to do different.

I know we are always our own worst critics, but I really think you look amazing! It's a great transformation! Remember, that you lived with your mommy belly for 20 yrs...you can handle a few months of swelling to get to your new awesome flat tummy!!! Hang in there and happy belated birthday!

So I'm 16 days post op and the time is flying! I have been super bummed about all the swelling lately but today has been ok in that area. I'm not sure what is different, I raised the amount of water I'm drinking and started wearing a new compression garment I bought at a dept. Store so I'm not really sure which one helped?? I just hope that my whole mid section continues to loose some of the swelling.

And to top it off i woke up today to a red spot on my incision so im hoping i am not getting an infection!! dont go to the docs for 5 more days but if it gets any more red then i may have to call him. i did post new pics!! all of them were taken in the morning and you can see the swelling even then!

Your swelling is coming down, as is mine I know, but it is a slow process, but girl, you look really fantastic! Give it a couple more weeks and I'll just bet you will have come down even more! Really great pictures!!!
You are going to rock the Headlands this summer!

So I have been complaining for almost a week about this Hard red spot on my incision line and yesterday it started hurting and today it was soooo sore I was miserable all day at work but had a follow up appointment with PS after work so I suffered. I get to his office and he was like that's no big deal looks like a stitch trying to come out. After making a tiny cut and digging around he pulled out a stitch ball!!! Not gonna lie it hurt like hell but now I feel like a new woman!! Amazing that a tiny stitch can hurt worse than the whole damn surgery.

the stich is what caused the hole in my left boob...he rooted around in it and polled it out..your right, it wasn't much fun....now i have to clean it and doctor it until it heals...
  • Reply
You had a stitch problem too? When did he dig around to get it out and is it healed yet?
last sunday i saw it opened up...monday i called them and they said as long as its not red, spreading, and fever..it will be fine....i got concerned so ps had me go in wednesday. he dug around in the open wound...ouch...said unless he gets the stich out then it will not close. so, once he got it out i was told to put ointment on it and gauze twice a day as well as wash it out with peroxide and water....he said it would take up to 3 weeks to close and it is getting better but still oozing...

Today is 6 weeks post op and i cant believe it has been this long. I am getting flatter everday but still a puff ball by the night! i am not gonna complain cuz i am 100% percent better than before surgery. I loooove my belly and belly button now!! I have not looked this way since i was 16 and am so happy with my decision to do it, was worth every penny!!

how are things going for you....i am def getting a redo hopefully november...hope all is well

Your 6 week pics look good too and I think the same about yours, I think your swelling isn't that bad either. I think maybe we are just tougher on ourselves than we should be. And yes I am so happy I did the surgery...it was worth every penny, every sleepless night and every bit of swelling that I have gone through!!

Oh Joyce! You look fantastic and not nearly the swelling that you described. Every day get a little better doesn't it? You have to be pleased so far, and know that even this will get even better!

I haven't been on in so long so I thought I would stop by and drop a few lines. I'm a little over a year and a half post op and I've never been happier with my body! I'm down to about 130 pounds and it's pretty much just from diet. having a tummy tuck was the best decision I've ever made and im wearing things I haven't worn since I was 16! I actually bought jeggings and wore them out in public for gods sake!!! So to the ladies that are in the beginning of their journeys all I can say is hang in there because it will take some time but you will eventually be happy with your results!
