Hello RS! Thank you for stopping by to check out...

Hello RS! Thank you for stopping by to check out my journey. A quick synopsis. This is my 2nd blog on RS (1st was for the BBL procedure in 2014). I'll be writing about my breast lift/breast reduction. As well as the additional work I'm having done on my abdomen & bra (back) bulge. I decided to have the same surgeon do both procedures for me. I'm 39, 146-150lbs, 5'4", workout (full body strength training & running) 3-4 times a week, eat healthy for the most part, drink only water, wine, tea or liquor, sleep regularly, etc to stay in shape/healthy. I had a full breast reduction when I was 19. I remember being 36DD (probably bigger, I don't believe I was measured right). I think the doctor took 300cc from each breast and used the pedicle procedure (anchor stitching: around areola, down to inframammary crease and along that line from the outside of my breast towards the center of my chest). 20 years later I want to fix the asymmetry/height of my areolas & the two different breast size. I completed 2 consultations to discuss my breast, not sure if I want to do a 3rd AND spoke to 2 of the 3 doctors about my abdomen/bra (back) bulge. What I told both doctors was that my areolas are too high & I want them lowered (I'm tired of them "star-gazing" & making appearances in photos unbeknownst to me. Lol), I wanted the long scar that is across my breast moved to the inframammary crease given it's higher now that my breast have bottomed out, I want the bulge on the right side of my abdomen fixed, my bra (back) bulge liposuctioned more & the "hood," as I call it, that is over my belly button fixed.

Consult #1: I met with matthew schulman (the PS that did my BBL). Dr. S told me that he could do a lift for both breast; that I would lose a small bit of volume but the breast would look smaller because of the skin being pulled tightly around the beast; I would not lose sensation/ability to breastfeed because he is not disconnecting any nerves. He advised that I could not lower my areolas - that was not possible; he would be able to move the longest scar that goes across the bottom side of my breast into the inframammary crease. In regards to my stomach and back....he stated my back has a lot of skin so even if he sucked all the fat out I would still have my thick skin offsetting any benefit of additional liposuction to the area: in regards to my abdomen, he said that the bulge is probably scar tissue/fibrous tissue (which cannot be used for fat transfer to the derrière), he could perform additional liposuction to remove the bulge and even out my stomach overall. A week recovery time in total. About three weeks before I could get back into the gym. Total charge (with the correction to the abdomen/additional lipo to back being done for free): $12,500

Consult #2: I met with Pierre Saadeh (chief of staff @ NYU, plastic microsurgery). I met with Pierre because I loved the work he did on my mother to reconstruct her breast from tissue/skin he removed from her stomach (my mother had a double mastectomy after 2 bouts with breast cancer).
Pierre stated that he would use my existing scars to execute the lift: that there appears to be some excess skin on the bottom half of my breasts that could be removed to give the breast a more natural look: the existing placement of tissue overall looks good: a small reduction would be done to the left breast since it is larger than the right (as well as place the left areola in the "meridian of the breast") and the right breast would be lifted (not reduced) so the breasts would be symmetrical: he said that my areolas could not be lowered because there would not be sufficient skin above the areola to fill in the area that would be created if they were lowered, so only a lift will address the placement of the areolas. He said it was not necessary to move my longest scar into the inframammary fold but would cut out the scar tissues and make a very narrow scar - so in theory it will show a lot less than my current scar from my reduction years ago. He said I will not need drains for my breasts post op. He confirmed that a large fluctuation in weight would adversely affect my lift results. Also he did not want to say specifically how my nerve endings/ability to breastfeed would be post op. He stated I will need a week off for recovery from work and I should be able to resume my workout regimen in about 3 weeks as long as the procedure is not too invasive - but that he would not know for sure until he got into my breast for the surgery itself and how my post op healing progresses. He anticipates that after about 6 months my breast should be softened up and assumed their "settled" position. He also is in favor of me using silicone on the post op scars. I would not need a garment for the lift/reduction other than a sports bra.

In terms of my stomach - Dr. Saadeh stated the bulge is being caused by under liposuctioning in that area coupled with over liposuctioning done immediately above & below the bulge itself: the "hooding" over my belly button resulted from too much fat liposuctioned out immediately above the belly button and the skin didn't have fat to hold onto so it could stay up: he plans on injecting fat into the two areas that were over liposuctioned in addition to performing more liposuction on the bulge itself: he plans to remove some of the skin right above my belly button to address the "hooding" effect (it may NOT be able to be fixed in entirety) and I would be left with a crescent shaped scar above my belly button. But the good news is that I don't need a mini tummy tuck to correct my stomach overall. He suggested I wear something like Spanx or Waist-Cincher as my post op garment for 4-6 weeks.

In terms of my back he said I have good skin but it is on the thicker side so he could do additional liposuction on the bulging areas but it will not make a significantly marked difference. He does not believe there is a lot of fat, rather that it's predominantly thick skin. But it is worthy of additional liposuction.

Dr. Saadeh also commented that he was under estimating results to manage my expectations. Which I appreciate.

Lastly Dr. Saadeh recommended I see a colleague of his who does CoolSculpt (thank you Tigerlilly50 for suggesting in advance) to see if that process would help better with addressing my abdomen and back. Dr. Saadeh ensured that the CoolSculpt doctor (Dr. Theodorou) did not charge me for the consultation. Dr. Theodorou took very good care of me during the consultation. He stated that CoolSculpt would not benefit me more than traditional liposuction. So I returned to Dr. Saadeh to do a final recap.

Lastly, Dr. Saadeh advised that he recently had a patient who was able to have medical insurance cover the cost of a "revision" post a breast reduction. He is going to look into that for me (savings of no less than 15K). So price tag pending from his office.

As new developments come in I will update. Thank you again for taking the time to read my story. Blessings!!
