I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Dara...
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Dara Liotta. Her professionalism, skill and personality are top notch. I lived 30 years with a severely deviated septum and was never able to breathe through my nose, on top of having sinus issues and pain. The last few years things had gotten worse and my nose started to really effect my sleeping, eating and active lifestyle. I decided that I couldn't take the torture anymore and started looking for a doctor. After some research I came across Dr. Liotta's page and quickly made a consultation appointment. Before meeting with her, I heard many horror stories about how a Septoplasty doesn't work, the recovery is awful, I'll have my nose packed with gauze, etc. Dr. Liotta explained to me that all of that wasn't true and that the surgery is not only very simple to perform, but the recovery will be very easy. There is NO packing, NO splints and NO black eyes.
Dr. Liotta made me feel so at ease and excited about this surgery that we booked it for less than a month later. She also had me get a CT scan to see if there were any other factors to consider like my Turbinates. The scan showed that not only were my Turbinates bad, but I also had a chronic cheek obstruction. I was very pleased that she had me get the scan done so she can completely take care of all my breathing issues, instead of just the septum.
On the day of the operation, Dr. Liotta made me feel very comfortable and excited about having the procedure. I was very nervous since this was my first surgery ever, but she really helped me tremendously to feel calm and ready. Everything went perfectly during surgery and I was in out of the OR in about 2 hours.
My recovery was very easy and I had NO pain at all from the surgery, which is exactly what Dr. Liotta had told me. After surgery, your nose is basically very stuffy - But for me was no where near as stuffy as it was pre surgery. Within a day or two I was actually already getting some air through both my nostrils which was incredible.
6 days after surgery Dr. Liotta saw me for a check up and a cleaning to suction out any build up in my nose. After the cleaning I really started to see a huge improvement in my breathing. Dr. Liotta said within the next two weeks my swelling should be gone and I should be breathing perfectly. I'm now at 8 days and already can breathe near perfectly and haven't had any sinus pain or pressure. My sleeping alone had already greatly improved and I can actually sleep through the whole night now! I can't wait to see how much more it will improve over the next week!
I HIGHLY recommended meeting Dr. Liotta. She is a fantastic doctor and goes above and beyond for her patients. I've never had a doctor email and personally call me before. It's usually near impossible to speak directly to one!
