Brand New Tattoo Regret - New York, NY

Hi everyone. So I recently got a tattoo that I have been planning for years. I knew what I wanted, had several pictures, researched several artists, and put a lot of thought into this tattoo. I picked my artist because he did great work and had a really light hand. He drew up a stencil and I told him I thought it was way too big and wanted it smaller. He reworked it and made it smaller but I still thought it was kind of big. But I figured he's the artist he knows best, he'll make it look good so I said ok. He worked for about 4 hours and when he finished I was completely speechless. Not only did he make it bigger, but it is so incredibly dark and heavy. I didn't want something dark like this...I know it will lighten up a little after it is fully healed but I am totally regretting letting him talk me into going bigger and having him go so heavy when I told him I liked his light style. I'm not in a huge rush it get it off of me but I think that this has to go. I do like the top rose because of the design and it seems lighter, but the cameo and bottom rose are just making me really upset about this tattoo. Does anyone know the success rate with new tattoos? I don't want to wait too long and decrease my chances at full removal. That's something else I'm concerned about...I want it gone but all gone. I don't want some ink to stay and then it just look like some big mess. I do have very pale skin and it is all black ink which I hear gets the best results but I don't want to start laser removal if it can't really get this thing off of me. Its also really expensive, so I want to be sure that it'll be gone. I don't know if I'll just end up living with this thing...I don't want to have to settle on something but I guess I should have thought of that before. I'm really bummed over this. Anyone have any advice?

aloha cmwhit11, There are many here on the forum that began laser removal after healing.  I started within six weeks.  I would recommend a consultation with a laser professional. I was told to expect to undergo at least ten sessions to remove and black ink is easier to remove than colours, but there are some on this forum that have had great success. Yes, new tattooes are dark and they often lighten up.  Good luck!

I really think your tattoo is a nice art work , maybe is just the impact of seeing such a big piece in your body. In my research for tattoo removal i have seen plenty of tattoos that are HORRIBLE! But this is not the case, if you do not feel comfortable with it. is better that you remove it ,.till then enjoy your tattoo because is not bad at all. I got a terrible tattoo ! Regret it every single day ! And the worst is that is in a visible area ... Well at least we got tattoo removal! Hope it works!
My new tattoo is about the same size and all black too. You're not alone. I'm starting laser soon.
Hello cmwhit11, I am in the same situation, except mine is a cover up. My tattoo is large and colorful and I am on session #7. This will take time, and I believe and have read that new tattoos are easier to remove. Best of luck

Hello, I am not sure how I can have you message me back. but It would be nice to talk about this, I had the exact same thing literally happen to me yesterday. I loved the design but i let him talk me into doing it bigger and it was supposed to be more light blue and all i see is black with dark blue. I think mine is a beautiful piece but i hate it now. It will lighten up when it heals but i want it to heal and i want it ***** my body. I love your tattoo but i understand what you mean. best of luck. keep me updated some how and i will do the same. i need someone to help get through this haha - bobby

I am in the same boat! I went into the shop yesterday with what i wanted & he talked me into something different and now I too want this thing the *********my body!!!! Im not even sure wtf i was thinking!!!! I am going to say it was a moment of temporary insanity! I have called more places today & have spent the majority of this day researching the newest, best, method to rid myself of it and cannot seem to find the answer! I have 2 consultations scheduled, one uses the picosure & the other uses Alma XL Q-switch....no freakin idea which one is more apt to completely remove this thing! Have you any info? Maybe we can go together and get 2 for 1!!! Hahaha!!! UGH! This thing is consuming me!!!! :( Roxanne

Hi Impulsive68! I I thought I would share this information with you, it's a great video that will provide you information about the Picosure, as well as show a full treatment in session!
