Tummy Tuck: Stories

Hi All, I'm new to this site but have recently decided to go ahead with a TT...I've been wanting to do this ever since I lost all my weight from my second pregnancy...I thank god my daughter was healthy but my body was a train wreck.. Gained 90 pounds. As quickly as I gained the weight - I lost it under a year leaving my stomach - as my children would say..."it feels like dough mommy".

We laugh about it but I've always told them not to get used to it. I'm not overweight - I weigh 135 lbs and am 5"4'. I'm just tired of looking down at all the rolls and after you hit 40, it's all downhill from here ladies!

Anyhow, Aug 1st will be my big day and feel very comfortable with the physician I've finally decided to go with. I'll be staying overnight at a hospital after the surgery and have prepped my husband and family with the upcoming surgery. I'm scared and elated at the same time. Can't wait!

Tomorrow is the pre-op! I've been really going back and forth with really going through with this.....until I looked down at my rolls! I am so ready!!! Weds will be the surgery. When I get to my computer, I'll upload the before pics. I hope the other ladies going through the same - has a quick and almost painless process.

Went to pre-op and visit with the doctor to go over the final details before the big day. Although it was initially scheduled for weds, we rescheduled it for Friday. The doctor went out of his way to accommodate the surgery date. Anyhow, he said that he would see me on saturday at the hospital just to make sure everything is healing properly. Just a few more days! I have to say that the staff and dr at the office were wonderful. They took their time answered all my questions, gave me the prescriptions that need to be filled before surgery AND they gave me multi-vitamins to start taking before, during and after surgery - just to expedite the healing process. Can't wait!!!

After reading so many posts, I'm going to have a hospital bed delivered to my house on Friday! Not a bad price, 165.00 for the month. I'm just debating on where to place it...Everyone has been joking around at the house and will wheel me around so I don't miss out on any action. If anyone has any suggestions on where I should have the hospital bed, please feel free to share!

Well tomorrow is the big day! I have my bags packed, had the hospital bed delivered to the house and everything organized. I took the hospital bed for a test drive...it is so comfortable....glad I made that call.

My husband is very worried but after the surgery is over, he'll be okay. The kids started tearing up when the hospital bed arrived to the house today....they are so sweet. They told me that they liked my tummy smooshy and tried to talk me out of it. They felt better when I told them that I would call right after surgery. I think I'm more worried about the kids being upset than I am over this surgery. It soon will be over!! See you on the other side :-)

Surgery was a success! I've not seen my new tummy yet but will post pics! What a relief , I'm glad the surgery is behind me and can focus on feeling better.

The hospital gave me a morphin drip but hardly used it. YAY!!!!!!

2 days post op... Everything was running so smooth, It was bordering -too good to be true-status until 2am. My pain meds were worn off and out of the blue - I started coughing. I now know what pain is!!!! Man did that hurt. So I have been taking it easy all day.

Tomorrow I have a follow up with the PS. I've been draining very little, so I'm hoping he takes out both drains.

I went for my checkup with my PS. He was able to take one of the drains out today. He asked that I come back tomorrow afternoon and he will take out the other.(YAY!!) It has been less than a week since the surgery and everything is clicking right along. The only concern that I had was the swelling and the PS said it would take a couple months - which I am completely ok with.

It has been less than a week since the surgery and I feel better each day! Everyone has been saying they can already see a difference even with the binder/drains on...I'm very happy with the decision of going through with this. My family has been so supportive with all of this. I've been staying at my parents house and have been pampered. Next week will be going back to NC and I should be strong enough to care for my husband/children without any issues.

For all the ladies that are hesitant in going through with this type procedure, make sure you find the right PS (I can't stress this enough), stay overnight in the hospital, take vitamins (no vitamin E), rent a hospital bed, expect to be down for at least 6 weeks and finally to know you will have some emotional ups and downs - It's just part of the process. Went to PS 3 days ago and I am officially drain and staple free!! I was not able to take a shower until this morning and was able to get out of the house with my husband. We went to SAM's club and was sporting one of those nifty scooters. I laughed to myself because I was feeling REALLY cool especially when my husband pointed out some Hollywood rock star and his "niece" were staring at me. I thought to myself...... "scooter envy".

Anyhow, everything is going really well. The only thing that kind of got under my skin was my husband looking at me with disgust on his face as I was getting ready to walk in the shower. I approached him about it afterwards and he was trying to dance around it. I told him that the incision will go away. He has told everyone including my PS that he did not support me with this whole deal. I just thank god for my family and children being supportive. Maybe one day he will understand or better yet is reincarnated to female and gains 80+ pounds with pregnancy.

I just posted my 12 day post op pics. Out of the blue, I started getting some bruising on my left side of my stomach but it was to be expected. I just can't beleive it hasn't been 2 weeks and I can already tell the swelling is slowly dissapating. I'm still very happy with the results.

Went to my 2 week post op and the little bruising that started on my belly is called Hematoma. I think it was from my coughing episode early on because it hurt REALLY bad. I didn't think it was an issue at the time of the visit but the PS gave me Arnica and asked that I take it twice a day and massage the area daily. I hope it goes away soon!! other than that, all is well. I feel great but I have to remind myself not to push it.

I just started using the Scar Away cream that my PS gave me at my last appointment and I also found it at walmart for $10. It's only been a couple days since I started using it and I can already tell a difference. The bruising is starting to go away too!! Everyday is getting better. I just posted a before/after pic at po day 16 and a pic of my incision area. Big Difference!!
