When I was young, I enjoyed my tiny breasts. I...

When I was young, I enjoyed my tiny breasts. I didn't have to worry about them falling out of my top and they were just ME. Then a switch was flipped at 28. I wasn't even 100 lbs and so there was very little that wasn't nipple. I'd gotten a car accident settlement and decided I'd get implants to balance me out. It was so long ago, I don't remember the name of the doctor or if there was much discussion. Silicone would be more natural. Under the muscle would look better. Bang. Done! Recovery was very painful and I can still remember it. This is what's kept me from making an appointment with a Plastic Surgeon. The fear of that pain.

Fast forward 27 years. Pain when I'm sleeping. Pain when I wake up. My husband can't hug me because they cause pain. A friend giving me a hug and saying "They're hard!" - which they're NOT, it's just that they're not totally squishable like a natural breast.

Enough.

A year ago, I started asking every doctor I go to about Plastic Surgeons. No one could come up with a name, only giving me vague information like, "they're in this building tho I've never seen their work".

Thank goodness for RealSelf!!

I'm scheduled for explant on 8/20 and just have to keep the nerves at bay, while I wait. My husband stands by my decision...it's funny because he hasn't had any questions but he want's me to be happy and healthy. That's not to say that I haven't gone into every little detail of what's coming, including that there will be crying but I'll be ok.
I wish I could hug everyone that's told their story and shown photos, so I'm braced and ready. I'll try to be patient and be good to myself.
I'm sorry I don't have pre-implant photos. I also don't remember what size I was before (maybe a 32 Almost B?) and right now I'm a 38B. I'll chalk some of that up to gaining 30 lbs in the last 27 years.
I'm already looking forward to golf, bowling and finally being free of the pain.
More to come!

Its getting close!

Today I tried to occupy my brain by working. About an hour before I left, the nerves started to kick in.
Here's a silly (maybe) question: What do I wear to the hospital?
The temperatures are in the low 90's, I'm always warm and I only have tshirt type tops. Should I get a button down something? I'd have to cut the sleeves to short length. It's amazing how the mind works...or doesn't work. I really need to have this figured out soon or I'll be a wreck by tomorrow afternoon. My PS said I'll be in a surgical bra. He doesn't know if I'll have drains. I'm tempted to go in wearing one of my husbands golf shirts and no bra. It'll be too big by the time I leave!
Darn this East Coast heat wave! My plans for jeans are completely foiled and I'm going to wear cropped sweats.
Argh!

A Bit Of Shopping

Today I ran out to Sam's Club and bought 2 men's button down shirts. My husband doesn't have any so that wasn't an option.

I already got the call from the anesthesiologist nurse and have to call after 3, to find out what time I need to arrive. (Deep breath)
I told her that I sometimes get low blood sugar and she advised me to eat lots of protein today...as late as 11:59pm...to help with that. Since surgery isn't until the afternoon, I hope that works.
Tick Tock

I saw a video by Dr. Subbio, here on RealSelf, and I met with him twice before my explant surgery. He answered every question I had and gave me his cell number for any questions that may pop into my brain. He didn't try to push me into getting replacements or a lift, tho he did tell me about the procedure (lift), if I chose that down the road. Dr Subbio called me the day after my surgery to see how I was doing and to tell me how everything went (because I was too loopy to remember he'd already told me, post-op). His Practice Manager, Brittney, is very nice and extremely helpful. She dealt with my insurance company and got everything in order. Donna, the doctor's assistant is very helpful with a funny, calming personality. Everyone in the office will do anything they can to make you feel important and appreciated.
