Boy time flies!! Almost 3 weeks po

First of all, so happy I found this site! I do not know of anyone personally that has had this procedure so I am thankful for your posts! My TT is scheduled for Monday and I am getting a bit nervous. Second guessing myself, wondering if this is really needed etc. I am 52 and have hated my stomach area for a long time. While I am so excited at the thought of wearing T-shirts or tanks without all this pudge, and possibly even a two piece !! . My Dr. said since I did so well with a hysterectomy , the recovery form this procedure should be easier. I appreciate any comments or feedback from y'all :))

Hello there, great thing your doing for yourself. If you have hated your tummy then you need and deserve your tt. I am 53 and had mine In October 18th of 2012. I too always hated my tummy, having my first child at 19. That is when I got all the stretch marks and loose skin. Of course 3 more babies after that only made it worse. I never thought about getting a tt, until the loose skin caused so many problems with infection and sweating. I felt I had no choice. But since then I only have a few things I would have changed. One being I would have had muscle repair, I let my ps talk me into not getting it. I think he was looking at where my pain pump is and how it sticks out. If you pull up my profile you will see it clearly poking out of the right side of my body. He thought it may protrude out to far if my tummy was tighter I guess. Still I love it so much more than my old tummy I really can not complain. YOU will LOVE wearing those tighter shirts and shorts. I really thought I would wear plus size baggey clothes for the rest of my life. It is truely like being re-born. The first 3 or 4 nights after my tt I did sleep in a recliner pretty much sitting up with pillows under my knees behind my neck and back. After that and I went back to my bed I would make a nest to sleep in with my pillows. That would be my main piece of advice. Go to walmart or Meijer and pick up a few extra pillows to stuff in and around your body for comfort. Be very careful the first few days not ot stand up straight. I have seen some ladies stand up and pull their tt scar a little to soon. A few of those ended with a bit wider scar then what they should have had... listen to your ps, they really know their stuff and can tell you every step. Sleep, sleep and sleep as much as you can. If you have someone to pamper you, let them. Best of luck, please post some pictures when your up to it. Congrats!

Hi, I'm 56 and am six days PO. I'm trilled with my results and super happy that I went through with it. I, too had been unhappy with my belly for years and had contemplated one forever. Circumstances arose recently where it made sense to have the TT along with some breast recon from my breast cancer. The first 3/4 days are the hardest, then you start feeling a bit better each day. Have a recliner, table for all your necessities, TV remote, cell phone, iPad or laptop, meds, water, powerade, no salt saltines, low sodium food, I liked tapioca pudding the first few days, easy plenty of protein items for healing, also fresh pineapple. Rest, rest, and rest! Your body needs to heal. Best of luck to you and you will be so happy once you do it!!!!

Bikini4mimi first of all, relax! I didn't know anyone who went through this operation before I had mine and several times I almost talked myself out of going through with it,....Thank God I didn't back out!!!! This truly is the best thing I've ever done for myself and knowing what I know now, I'd o it all over again in a heartbeat! Do your research on a good P/S and prepare to take some time off to recover. Buy some comfy sweatpants and stock up on stool softener and ready to heat and eat meals. Check in on this site often and ask these amazing ladies to help get a list of things you will want to have on hand. Good luck, and can't wait to hear from you when you join us on the flat side!

Po day 6 and feeling better today ! Woke up yesterday with the same feeling and decided to cut my meds back because it had been 5 days out . Mistake! Back to every 4 hours 1/2 dose . Up and moving every hour and don't need the potty lift anymore, lol! First bm this morning , that was fabulous I must say! Eating small healthy meals and keeping hydrated and pretty much just chillin. Hubby will help me with a shower today and I can get a better look at this incision and all. First po appt Tuesday , hopefully drains will come out. So excited about a roll less belly that doesn't explode over my jeans and t's and tanks that are comfortable and smooth without support underneath!! Have a great day ladies!!

Wow! This week has flown by, thank you Jesus!! Every day gets a bit better but a much slower recovery than I had anticipated! My dh helped me with a shower yesterday, and while it felt fabulous, it was truly exhausting!! I have my 1st po checkup tomorrow, and am already wondering how the hell I am going to get from the parking lot to his office!! It might take me an hour just to do that! I will call their office today to see if there are walkers available. My back is still super sore - need to sit a minute just walking around the house but definitely getting much easier getting up and around. Thank God for my supportive/loving family! I have never had to depend on them this much. Looking forward to getting back to my normal life with my new hot belly, lol!!!
DANG!!!! Your tummy looks fantastic! I'm so jealous! You have got to be over the moon with your results! Every day gets better, take your time moving around. It will get easier and easier. It is a long recovery, but so worth it. You will be doing things on your own in about a week or so, not everything, but a lot more! Happy healing!

Thanks so much! My first day po pic looks better than I do now. I am bruised and swollen, but that's the norm I guess :/ Thanks for the encouragement, it is a slower recovery than I had anticipated. Are you happy with your results ??

I'm very happy! I'm obviously still healing and have been eating really badly lately, but even so, I'm still so happy! I had breast augmentation too and am loving them too! I'm back at the gym full time and I'm feeling pretty good. Still achiness where I had muscle repair, but otherwise things are going very well.

Had my first po appt. this morning. Drains out and it feels great!! Pretty happy with the results so far. Liking the new bb, scar looks awesome, and although I'm still pretty swollen I think I am going to be very happy I did this. Each day gets a bit better and as long as I don't miss getting my muscle relaxer on time, I think I'll live, lol! Still very sore and walking hunched over, back still killing me, have to sit after walking just a short time. Thinking of switching to regular Tylenol tomorrow and see how that goes. Don't like having my daily bm :)

I meant not having my daily bm, geez!!

I meant not having my daily bm, geez!!
It def gets better every day. I felt like I was never going to walk standing straight up and one day I woke up and was standing straight up. Rest is very important. You look great. Hang in there

Yeah, it takes a bit for the bm to come, though when it does, it will be a very happy day! It's really rather funny how excited we all are/were when we finally go/went! You are looking fantastic! You will straighten up soon, it takes a little while. Keep on the meds for a bit more! Happy healing!

PO11, feeling better, but still home bound, stiff and sore. Energy not back yet. Got off the painkillers but still taking Tylenol every 6 hours or so. Wondering how much longer till I'm feeling like myself again :)
What is everyone using for constipation ? What works without giving you cramps or making u go too much? Trying to get my list ready ...

I took stool softeners, which made it some what easier to go but didn't do all the other stuff. Also ask your PS, see what he says. The one thing I remind everyone to have is cough drops. I didn't the first day and it was something I really needed. Good luck!

Phillips stool softener gel tabs. Two or three every morning will help alot, and best of all...NO NO CRAMPS!

Close to 3 weeks po. Feeling a bit better, still...

Close to 3 weeks po. Feeling a bit better, still walking pretty slow, especially at the end of the day, and that's with taking it pretty easy! Off of pain meds, back to my own bed (its one of those high ones) and slept on my side for a while last nite :)! Still sore and tender from the mr I guess, looking forward to the day that I'm hiking and riding again with my new cute stomach in a tight white tank without rolls!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whooohoooooo! Going to put on a bikini I bought a couple years ago and have never worn just to see how it looks, lol! Not going back to work for a few more weeks, I want this to heal properly and not cause me any additional grief! Will add some more photos in a bit. Hope y'all are healing well :)
How are you these days?

8 wks po on Monday 6/17

Went back to work Monday, on my feet all day kinda job :) Hello swell Hell!! Started the week with spax type thing only, but yesterday wore my binder. It helped a bit with the soreness but not so much with the swelling, ugh!! Hopefully this old body will adjust to the new stomach soon and the swelling will be a thing of the past! Hope everyone is healing great!!
Hey Mimi!!! One of the best post pics I have seen. Great job in picking an awesome ps! Not looking forward to going back to my job in 2 weeks. It will be 5 1/2 weeks and I am a nurse and on my feet also. Oh well. Only 2 days a week so I can handle that. Enjoy your summer with your new figure!
