14dpo new pics, STILL so swollen!!!!!!!!New York, NY

So I'm having my tummy tuck, muscle repair and...

So I'm having my tummy tuck, muscle repair and lipo in the flanks on Thursday. I have 3 kids 8,7 and 10 months. I was 130 before my last baby and now I'm 145. I thought I would be able to lose all the weight but for some reason it's been a difficult journey. Sometimes I wonder if I'm making a mistake by not being at my ideal weight but my doctor said 15 pounds won't make a difference. I hope he's right!!!! I'm doing this surgery now because it seems like an ideal time. I have all the help I need and I might not have this help later. I also have so much going on this year I figured its now or never. I gained about 70 pounds with each pregnancy and it completely destroyed my body. I have stretch marks everywhere. Anyway I'm soooo nervous, nervous about not getting my ideal results, nervous about the pain, nervous about my kids being ok while I'm going through all this. My husband works all the time so I am the glue that keeps this family going, lol. Any advice would be much appreciated. I think I have everything I need. I love this website, I'm on it all the time devouring everyone's posts. I figured its time to share my story. I'll post some before pics as soon as I have time to take them.

Today's the day and all I'm thinking is what did I...

Today's the day and all I'm thinking is what did I get myself into? I have to be at the hospital by 10:30. I can't sleep thinking about it. Hopefully and most importantly I will a. wake up and b. get the results I want. I asked for and early appointment, like 8 am, I don't understand why I couldn't get an earlier appointment since I'm paying an arm and leg, that kind if bothers me. Anyway wish me luck!!!!!

Well it's done. I'm on the flat side. I can't see...

Well it's done. I'm on the flat side. I can't see anything because I'm not allowed to open the binder. The pain so far is not so bad. I haven't had any pain meds since 10 pm but I'm starting to feel it now. Thank g-d I have a catheter in and don't have to get up yet. I'm really hungry but I have to be on a liquid diet for now. Can't sleep.
How exciting! Hope your recovery goes easy on you! Can't wait til I have mine!! :)

POD2. Recovery has been unbelievable. I am so happy I stayed overnight in the hospital. To be honest I had by gallbladder removed 2 years ago and that pain was much worse. I got a small glimpse of my stomach, I look swollen, I can't wait to see the final results. The last time I took pain meds was at 2 am and I haven't needed any since. I haven't gone the dreaded #2 yet, hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm really itchy everywhere but that's about the only discomfort. I'll keep you guys posted.

Looking good:)

Pod3 today is a good day. I'm starting to feel...

Pod3 today is a good day. I'm starting to feel some pain around the flank areas where I had the lipo done. One word of advice: do the breathing exercises, it will help alleviate any coughing spells you might have, because coughing hurts.....badly. I've just been hanging out, walking here and there but taking it easy. Still no #2, I'm getting worried about that. Any advice?
I am loving your reference to the pain with your gall bladder surgery. I had mine out in 2005. Man, if its less than that, I will have it made. I sure hope it is. I hope all is well today. :)

Seriously that is how I feel. I had the gallbladder removed laporiscopoly and it was torture. This really ain't that bad. Just try not to cough because that just makes me cry, lol. But honestly it's so worth it.

I had mine out the same way. WOW! You are giving me some relief right now. If its not worse than that, I can definately handle it. Thanks so much.

Pod5 I'm feeling better everyday but I get tired...

Pod5 I'm feeling better everyday but I get tired very fast. All I want to do is sleep. I stopped taking pain meds on day 3. It's so weird but I thought I would be in pain much longer. The most annoying part are the drains. They don't hurt they're just in the way. I haven't seen what I look like since I left the hospital. The dr said not to touch the bandages and that's really annoying. I want to see the finished product already. I have no patience. I'm blessed to have an amazingly supportive husband. My mother passed away when I was 15 so I really don't have anyone to help me but he made sure to get someone to watch the baby during the day everyday for a month and he and his neice take care of the baby in the evenings. Thank g-d for that. I go to the dr on Thursday, hopefully the drains will come out then.

Happy healing!!!!!
You look good! Hope you are resting and feeling well, remember it only gets better but you need to be good to yourself now, rest and eat well.

Thank you, I'm trying to be good to myself.

Pod7. I just came from my drs office. I would have loved to seem my results but they put me in a room with no mirror. I looked pretty swollen and he said it would get worse before it got better. I've posted the two pics I was able to take myself. I'm praying to g-d that I will be happy with the results. All you other women look great and I look like a stuffed cabbage. :-(. By the way the drains came out and they didn't hurt at all.
I think you're looking amazing! Your 7 day post op picture looks great!! Are you still having issues with constipation? That has been the worst part for me. I have had to do two fleet enemas and that is the only thing that helps. I have taken numerous senna tablets and nothing seems to work. Trying to start taking only ibuprofen but just had to take another vicoden as it wasn't quite strong enough. Love the support on here!! :) Here's to a weekend of relaxing again - we have to keep taking it easy for another week or so!

Ok so for the constipation my daughters babysitter made me a prune compote. Basically take like 10 prunes and soak them in hot water. Wait 1/2 hour than drink the liquid and eat the prunes and that should do the trick. It helped me right away and it actually doesn't taste too bad. I was crazy today, I went on a three hour shopping spree and now I'm at the beauty salon getting my hair blown out. My stomach feels so swollen like its going to explode!!!

Thank you - I will give that a try for sure. Wow - so good to hear that you've been able to get out and about and there is nothing better than a good blow out! You're going to feel amazing! But - you definitely should get home and get your feet up so you don't do any damage - I was told you don't want to overdue it in the first few weeks. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for the tip on getting back to regular! :)

Pod 10 I probably over did it this weekend. I went to a birthday party Friday night and then another one on Saturday night. It really wore me out. I've had people come visit me and I've just been falling asleep on them. So funny. Anyway with my clothes on I look pregnant. I'm extremely swollen on the bottom part of my belly. I hope it's going to go down. I'm flipping out about this because it wasn't like that before surgery. I know I just have to be positive!!!!! Take a look at the pics and let me know what u think.

I also just wanted to mention that my stomach...

I also just wanted to mention that my stomach feels soooo weird. In some places I can feel it and in some places I can't. I didn't expect that. And also I get full really fast, which is a good thing, but I can't really eat like I use to. When I'm standing for long periods of time I feel like my stomach gets more swollen and I become more hunched over. When will I be able to stand straight again. All this combined makes me feel weird. I can't even imagine what having sex would feel like with my husband touching my new tummy. I hope it doesn't freak me out. What did I get myself into????? Lol, I hope it's all worth it in the end and everything I'm feeling is temporary.
How are you feeling??

I'm good, slowly getting into the groove of things. Honestly I just want this recovery to be over. I have so much to do and clean, it's never ending. I feel like I'm wasting my time lounging around. I'll be alone for two hours with my 10 month old. I guess we'll see how that works out, lol. How r u? Excited, in a blink of an eye your day will come. Time flies way too fast.

I'm just expecting the worst (pain wise) and expecting my house to be a total disaster for atleast 6 weeks. Lol Your only 12 days po right? I would just take it easy! It's good to know you feel we'll enough to even want to do anything. I thought I would be on my death bed for atleast 2 weeks after surgery. Lol

14 dpo: I'm 14 days out now. I'm still walking...

14 dpo: I'm 14 days out now. I'm still walking kind of hunched but it's getting better. I feel like I'm becoming too attached to my binder. Whenever I take it off I feel so naked, lol. Recovery has been pretty good. I'm still not lifting my 10 month old and it really sucks but I knew what I was getting myself into. I've taken new pics and I still look the same, if not more swollen. I'm patiently waiting for my body to heel. I'm going to see my ps tomorrow for another post op check. I'll keep you guys posted. Check out my pics and tell me what you think.
I think you're looking great! But I agree with you about the swelling. I am so tired of it! We are "surgery twins" and I'm 15 days post op as well. My PS said I didn't have to wear my CG anymore and spanx are okay "when active." I was cleared to start working out again, which I'm going to start tomorrow. I'm hoping that will help with the swelling. It's really bad at the end of the day, especially, but I know that's when most of us have it worst. started lifting my 17 month old yesterday and it hasn't been that bad. I'm trying to remember to "lift with the legs," but it's hard with 3 small kids (which I know you have also). One day at a time...each day gets a little better and I still feel MUCH better than I did for the first week post-op! Hang in there!

Wow after 15 days your allowed to start excercising! Did you have muscle repair also? Just wondering bc I'm having lipo and muscle repair with my TT and I'm curious when I can start excercising
Reply
I did have muscle repair too, along with a full TT and lipo. My doctors philosophy is 1mph on the treadmill for each week post op. so now that I'm in my 3rd week post op, I can go 3mph on the treadmill. Not a super effective workout by any means, but better than sitting around, I guess. I miss the gym!
