14dpo new pics, STILL so swollen!!!!!!!!New York, NY

So I'm having my tummy tuck, muscle repair and...

So I'm having my tummy tuck, muscle repair and lipo in the flanks on Thursday. I have 3 kids 8,7 and 10 months. I was 130 before my last baby and now I'm 145. I thought I would be able to lose all the weight but for some reason it's been a difficult journey. Sometimes I wonder if I'm making a mistake by not being at my ideal weight but my doctor said 15 pounds won't make a difference. I hope he's right!!!! I'm doing this surgery now because it seems like an ideal time. I have all the help I need and I might not have this help later. I also have so much going on this year I figured its now or never. I gained about 70 pounds with each pregnancy and it completely destroyed my body. I have stretch marks everywhere. Anyway I'm soooo nervous, nervous about not getting my ideal results, nervous about the pain, nervous about my kids being ok while I'm going through all this. My husband works all the time so I am the glue that keeps this family going, lol. Any advice would be much appreciated. I think I have everything I need. I love this website, I'm on it all the time devouring everyone's posts. I figured its time to share my story. I'll post some before pics as soon as I have time to take them.

Today's the day and all I'm thinking is what did I...

Today's the day and all I'm thinking is what did I get myself into? I have to be at the hospital by 10:30. I can't sleep thinking about it. Hopefully and most importantly I will a. wake up and b. get the results I want. I asked for and early appointment, like 8 am, I don't understand why I couldn't get an earlier appointment since I'm paying an arm and leg, that kind if bothers me. Anyway wish me luck!!!!!

Well it's done. I'm on the flat side. I can't see...

Well it's done. I'm on the flat side. I can't see anything because I'm not allowed to open the binder. The pain so far is not so bad. I haven't had any pain meds since 10 pm but I'm starting to feel it now. Thank g-d I have a catheter in and don't have to get up yet. I'm really hungry but I have to be on a liquid diet for now. Can't sleep.

POD2. Recovery has been unbelievable. I am so happy I stayed overnight in the hospital. To be honest I had by gallbladder removed 2 years ago and that pain was much worse. I got a small glimpse of my stomach, I look swollen, I can't wait to see the final results. The last time I took pain meds was at 2 am and I haven't needed any since. I haven't gone the dreaded #2 yet, hopefully it won't be too bad. I'm really itchy everywhere but that's about the only discomfort. I'll keep you guys posted.

Pod3 today is a good day. I'm starting to feel...

Pod3 today is a good day. I'm starting to feel some pain around the flank areas where I had the lipo done. One word of advice: do the breathing exercises, it will help alleviate any coughing spells you might have, because coughing hurts.....badly. I've just been hanging out, walking here and there but taking it easy. Still no #2, I'm getting worried about that. Any advice?

Pod5 I'm feeling better everyday but I get tired...

Pod5 I'm feeling better everyday but I get tired very fast. All I want to do is sleep. I stopped taking pain meds on day 3. It's so weird but I thought I would be in pain much longer. The most annoying part are the drains. They don't hurt they're just in the way. I haven't seen what I look like since I left the hospital. The dr said not to touch the bandages and that's really annoying. I want to see the finished product already. I have no patience. I'm blessed to have an amazingly supportive husband. My mother passed away when I was 15 so I really don't have anyone to help me but he made sure to get someone to watch the baby during the day everyday for a month and he and his neice take care of the baby in the evenings. Thank g-d for that. I go to the dr on Thursday, hopefully the drains will come out then.

Happy healing!!!!!

Pod7. I just came from my drs office. I would have...

Pod7. I just came from my drs office. I would have loved to seem my results but they put me in a room with no mirror. I looked pretty swollen and he said it would get worse before it got better. I've posted the two pics I was able to take myself. I'm praying to g-d that I will be happy with the results. All you other women look great and I look like a stuffed cabbage. :-(. By the way the drains came out and they didn't hurt at all.

Pod 10 I probably over did it this weekend. I went to a birthday party Friday night and then another one on Saturday night. It really wore me out. I've had people come visit me and I've just been falling asleep on them. So funny. Anyway with my clothes on I look pregnant. I'm extremely swollen on the bottom part of my belly. I hope it's going to go down. I'm flipping out about this because it wasn't like that before surgery. I know I just have to be positive!!!!! Take a look at the pics and let me know what u think.

I also just wanted to mention that my stomach...

I also just wanted to mention that my stomach feels soooo weird. In some places I can feel it and in some places I can't. I didn't expect that. And also I get full really fast, which is a good thing, but I can't really eat like I use to. When I'm standing for long periods of time I feel like my stomach gets more swollen and I become more hunched over. When will I be able to stand straight again. All this combined makes me feel weird. I can't even imagine what having sex would feel like with my husband touching my new tummy. I hope it doesn't freak me out. What did I get myself into????? Lol, I hope it's all worth it in the end and everything I'm feeling is temporary.

14 dpo: I'm 14 days out now. I'm still walking...

14 dpo: I'm 14 days out now. I'm still walking kind of hunched but it's getting better. I feel like I'm becoming too attached to my binder. Whenever I take it off I feel so naked, lol. Recovery has been pretty good. I'm still not lifting my 10 month old and it really sucks but I knew what I was getting myself into. I've taken new pics and I still look the same, if not more swollen. I'm patiently waiting for my body to heel. I'm going to see my ps tomorrow for another post op check. I'll keep you guys posted. Check out my pics and tell me what you think.

I think you're looking great! But I agree with you about the swelling. I am so tired of it! We are "surgery twins" and I'm 15 days post op as well. My PS said I didn't have to wear my CG anymore and spanx are okay "when active." I was cleared to start working out again, which I'm going to start tomorrow. I'm hoping that will help with the swelling. It's really bad at the end of the day, especially, but I know that's when most of us have it worst. started lifting my 17 month old yesterday and it hasn't been that bad. I'm trying to remember to "lift with the legs," but it's hard with 3 small kids (which I know you have also). One day at a time...each day gets a little better and I still feel MUCH better than I did for the first week post-op! Hang in there!

Wow after 15 days your allowed to start excercising! Did you have muscle repair also? Just wondering bc I'm having lipo and muscle repair with my TT and I'm curious when I can start excercising

I did have muscle repair too, along with a full TT and lipo. My doctors philosophy is 1mph on the treadmill for each week post op. so now that I'm in my 3rd week post op, I can go 3mph on the treadmill. Not a super effective workout by any means, but better than sitting around, I guess. I miss the gym!

I know how you feel, I use to do spinning 4 times a week and I miss the gym too but I would still take it easy. I think we swell more when we are active. I'm still not lifting my baby. I saw the dr today and he told me he was happy with the results and that I still needed to take it easy because I can still cause damage to myself. I have to wear my binder for another two weeks. I guess all drs are different. My sister in law had a tt last may and her recovery was a complete opposite from mine. She stopped wearing her binder on day 5 and the dr said she didn't need any kind of compression at all. Go figure!!!!!

hey my swelling is starting to keep in, mostly in my thighs, hips, & flanks. When it do start in my belly area, I have to quickly take off my cg because it hurts so bad. I then take some vitamin E oil & massage belly area, then put ice packs on it for about 20 mins. After i feel a lil better, I take a short walk around the house, still massaging, then put cg back on. It helps so far. Let me know what your Dr says about the swelling bc its getting really painful for me and I need all the help/advice I can get. Thanks & Happy healing :)

Every time I mentioned the swelling my dr said what can you expect you just had major surgery. You are fresh out but your results look good so far. Just lay down and don't do anything. The more you walk and do the worse the swelling gets. Try not to take the cg off because when you do it gives more room for swelling. My doc said it would go away but to give it time. Good luck, you look great.

take it a day at a time! 2 weeks and your standing up that's great!! I hope to be able to, my surgery is next Wednesday and my dad called to tell me make sure I'm ready for his company dinner April 6 Yikes!! I hope i dont disappoint him! What about a CG?? have you looked into that yet?? my doctor told me the binder will only be on for 2 weeks.

I had a party to go to 8 days after surgery. Needless to say I was not comfortable but it was doable. I'm very confused between binder and cg. Isn't it the same thing? I just saw my dr and he told me to use my binder for another two weeks. He never mentioned a cg. I should have asked him.

Thank you for sharing your journey... I have my TT scheduled for April 9. I have already been so up and down. There's times I think I've lost my mind then I'm super excited. I just hope the swelling goes down soon for you. I will continue to follow your journey until mine own begins.

I know this journey is a roller coaster but honestly even though I'm swollen I can't say I regret my decision. Don't worry, you will look great in the end of it all. I'm so excited for you. You will be swimsuit ready in no time!!!!!

You look great! Swelling will subside and you'll feel better soon. At 2 wks I switched to a cg. Was that an option? I think it helped....

Well I'm wearing a cg since I came out of surgery. I think my dr will have me move on to spanx. I'm seeing him today. I can't wait for recovery to be over, I'm so impatient.

I know... it sucks! I think I was even wrong when I wrote that... I was in a binder until drains out which was 1 1/2 weeks or so and then spanx since (well actually the VS version which I think is better...). Yesterday I went to my 4 week appt and was told I don't need anything if I don't want! I slept without anything and was SO happy. I feel more comfortable with the spanx during the day though... progress. It will be a distant memory soon!

I meant binder til 1 1/2 weeks, CG until 3 wks or so and then spanx

Wow! You look great in clothes! Do you still have to wear your compression garment?
  • Reply
Yes my dr said that I need to wear it at all times. He said usually at two weeks he tells is patients to go on to spanx. I am going to see him today. Lets see what he says. I think I kind of look a little pregnant with the clothes on , the swelling is horrible.

You are looking great, even with the swelling! My lower stomach is the worst too, you can see in my side pic how it poofs out. This is a long recovery and I know it's hard to be patient, I am the same way. lol

Yes, I see a huge difference, but I hate how the swelling looks. Oh well, time heals all wounds.
